  2. Hi All, I recently bought a LG Smart TV with WebOS (42LB6500) and would like to connect to my external hard disk connected over network. Here is how my home network and devices are setup. I have a high speed broadband that comes to my WiFi router (D-Link DSL 2750U) with USB support for External HDD. I have connected my Seagate Ex.HDD to this router and I am able to access the drive over WiFi on my smartphone and computer using the network path \\192.168.1.1\... Once connected I am able to use it similar to any mount location, i.e., read/write files, play media, etc., I want to do similarly with my TV, I would like to use this connected Ex. HDD as any other location and would like to achieve following two things at the least without any additional hardwarePlay media files on this HDD (very very important) Use the HDD as recording device for timeshift/live pause feature (important) Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. 3. LG's webOS 6.0 smart TVs have a new UI, NFC-equipped remote The new smart TV software from LG also has more voice commands for use with Alexa or Google Assistant Seven years after introducing webOS as the platform for its Smart TV lineup, LG is introducing version 6.0 with a new look and feel for its 2021 4K and 8K TVs. The old blade lineup of apps is gone, with a more modern tile-based layout. LG Home Entertainment president Park Hyoung-sei calls this “the most significant update since we first introduced webOS in 2014.” An upgraded version of its ThinQ AI has more voice command control than ever whether you’re using Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. For traditional control, this year’s edition of its Magic Remote is a bit more standard than some of the previous versions, but also includes NFC for the first time, which allows users to share content from phone to TV (and back) simply by tapping it. The new software includes Magic Explorer, which can pull up related content about actors, locations and items of interest for “select broadcast channels, while Next Picks analyzes viewing preferences to suggest things you might like. There’s no word on opt-in or opt-out preferences for these settings, but we’ll ask about them as the show progresses next week. It’s also unclear whether the updates will extend to older TVs in LG’s lineup, one way or another, the old HP software platform is still rolling on, powering new OLEDs and LCDs for another year. 4. Every time I use the scrollwheel on the amazing LG remote for the 55" OLED55B7V TV nothing happens, until I realize I am scrolling in the wrong direction. For everyone not accustomed with PCs, ie the whole mobile generation and all of us on the Apple platform, the so called "natural" scrolling aka "inverted scrolling" is what feels right. If I want the content on my screen to go up to reveal more content, I scroll the wheel up. On PCs and WebOS, you scroll the viewport, not the content, so you have to scroll down to make the content move up. If it would be up to me, the default should be natural scrolling, but at least give me an option to change the scrolling behaviour! For me, the current behaviour is just jarring each and every time I want to scroll! Moving a viewport is the old paradigm. Moving the content, as you do every day on your phones and tablets and PCs with touch screens, is how we interact now.

  9. UPDATING YOUR FIRMWARE The firmware that powers your LG Ultra HD 4K Smart TV with webOS should be updated from time to time to enhance your experience and improve its operation. Thankfully, this can be done easily and quickly, right at home. Watch this quick video to learn more. Or follow the easy steps below to get started. HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO UPDATE MY FIRMWARE? Firmware updates don't happen frequently, so you should be fine checking for updates every other month. HOW DO I CHECK FOR, AND DOWNLOAD, AVAILABLE FIRMWARE UPDATES? Before you do anything, make sure you have an Ethernet cord connected directly from your router to your television. Wireless Internet connections are not reliable enough for firmware updates. Use this diagram if you need help getting set up: ONCE YOUR TV HAS A WIRED CONNECTION, DO THE FOLLOWING: Press the MENU Click SYSTEM SETTINGS Then ABOUT Then SYSTEM UPDATES You'll be advised that your system is currently up to date or requested to select CHECK NOW for the latest update. If a new version is available, it downloads automatically. FIRMWARE UPDATES WILL ALSO UPDATE LG ULTRA HD 4K SMART TV AND LG APPS AT THE SAME TIME.
  10. I was wondering if there’s any chance that we going to have iTunes on webos I own like 300 movie plus tv show on iTunes just got my first new oled c8 Now there’s a lot rumors about airplay 2 only for 9 generation .
  11. After update, sound and picture is gittering.. picture jumps and sound goes quite then very loud every second. Can I reverse the update this occurs on TV, Netflix, and Prime, so it is not an app issue.. how can I fix this. Turning tv on and off does nothing
  12. It is now 2020, and the WebOS browser in LG Smart TVs (which I believe is Chromium-based) is still massively out of date and doesn't work properly with a ton of websites! The main problem is actually very simple. The browser doesn't support EMCAScript 2015 or ES6. Basically, translated from nerd speak, it doesn't work properly with modern code using new features created since 2015, so any newer websites will break unless they've been written to be compatible with ancient browsers and OSes. This should not be the case on a TV made in the current year. It should be running an up-to-date web browser, if not for convenience, then for SECURITY reasons as well!
  13. Hi all, hope someone can help me. I have a LG 49LX761H model 2016. I know it’s a hospitality tv but turned that mode off it works perfect. We upgrade the webos to the latest version available but the content store is not available. Is this function not available on this model or do I need to turn something on. Hope someone has the answer. Thanks
  14. I have LG webOS TV UF950T, software version 04.06.00 1.) WebOS is getting updates but new apps are not showing up in LG Content store. When I visit https://in.lgappstv.com/main through my Tv browser there are many new Apps which are not in LG content store. When i try to install , it says not compatible with your Tv. 2) When i try to play a video some times it says video format not supported and some times audio format not supported like with opus & ogg. My question is to Manufacturers/ WebOs designers if this is the case what is the point in updating TV, when there are no apps or support for new video or audio formats ???? In this case its like if i want new apps, I have to buy a new TV, updates are not helping in improving TV in any ways, no longer a Smart TV lol

  17. is there a webtv function or app that shows all of shows available on all the services I subscribe to. Xfinity does with this it's cable service for example. If you click on "recently watched" it all show all the shows you've watched wether from live TV, on demand, or from apps such as Netflix, that you've logged into. , Apple TV does the same thing. As do third party providers such as realgood. Anything similar of LG TV
  18. I hope LG check this forum. Powerful Browser App like Google Chrome that is able to play videos of Amazon Prime, the default browser is like Kids play, taking ages to load. Able to control streaming quality in apps like Prime Video, Hotstar, NetFlix, Sunnxt etc., i do not understand how hard for any developer to put this feature in app, I think WebOS SDK expose this to developer to provide this feature. File Explorer that allow us to store data in TV Wifi file Transfer App like ShareIT(Android) More Apps(MX Player, Jio Tv, Jio Cinema, Airtel Xtreme, VLC Player etc.....)... i feel the most apps available in the content store are crap and useless Actually i did not do much research before purchasing UK6360PTE TV, I never expected this much difference from Android TV, i do not know how LG even thinking to compete with this WebOS , because people are getting intelligent and do research before purchase of a TV. they definitely find Android TVs more feature rich.
  19. Hi people, I bought a LG 49UH650V 49" 4k. Even though it is a very good quality TV, I'm struggling trying to sort out a problem that seems apparently easy to solve. I'm italian and I live in the United Kingdom and I set up the TV to use it in the UK. I want to watch the italian tv as well which all the channels are on HotBird 13E. The tv has set by default Astra 28.2E satellite, only this one is listed. In the upper right corner there is a button with a plus symbol [+], I think this is for adding a new satellite, but it is not enabled, I'm not allowed to click on it. Very sad. Does anybody know how to enable that button, please? Many thanks Bye. Software Version 04.30.40
  20. After purchase my LG smart tv was able to pick up DTT (digital Terrestial Transmitters in the local area. These channels failed to work after some time and it was assumed that they were switched off due to the never ending wait for South Africa to migrate fully to digital. However tuning my sons Hi Sense tv the said channels were found and indeed are operational as digital HD channels Returning to my LG tv i changed the location to digital , retuned and lo and behold the digital channels appeared on a multiplex on uhf channel 49 (8mhz) however within a few minutes they disappeared never to be seen again isn spite of much time and many alternative settings. I have tried changing location, adding channel 49 UHF manually which shows full signal strength and quality, but gives no digital programmes found. I have had to revert to the 4 terrestial channels to get any tv operation at all. I believe that my set has been crippled by LG. I am highly upset considering the cost of a uhd TV thats not capable of performing ito its original specification or at its best. Any advice on how to obtain a working system ( frimware has been updated ) or the legal route to go to resolve this issue would be welcome. NB as a retired broadcast technologist i do have some knowledge of the industry so would welcome any technical perspectives if i have missed something thanks Mikei
  21. Hi, I have a 42 lg 3D Smart TV(42LB6500-TH) to with WEBOS version 1.4.0-2532, software version 05.05.70. 22. My smart TV model : 42Lb6520 WebOS: 1.4.0-2532 Issue: many applications don't exist in LG app store like shahid despite the importance of this app that the most famous app in the middle East And any other applications like Spotify and starzplay despite the importance of that Please add this applications to LG app store Thanks 😊
  23. Since two weeks or so, finally the WebOS store became available in the Netherlands. Unfortunately for me some very desired apps are still missing. These apps are: - Soundcloud - Spotify - IMDB Does anybody know if they are to be released in the Netherlands soon? Are they already available in other countries? In the web browser both Spotify and Soundcloud cannot be used because flash is not supported. Will there be flash support in the future? Before WebOS I used a Western Digital Live TV media player, WebOS is such a relieve in comparison to the WD media player. If these apps become available soon, WebOS is for sure the best smart-tv OS.
