  1. UPDATING YOUR FIRMWARE The firmware that powers your LG Ultra HD 4K Smart TV with webOS should be updated from time to time to enhance your experience and improve its operation. Thankfully, this can be done easily and quickly, right at home. Watch this quick video to learn more. Or follow the easy steps below to get started. HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO UPDATE MY FIRMWARE? Firmware updates don't happen frequently, so you should be fine checking for updates every other month. HOW DO I CHECK FOR, AND DOWNLOAD, AVAILABLE FIRMWARE UPDATES? Before you do anything, make sure you have an Ethernet cord connected directly from your router to your television. Wireless Internet connections are not reliable enough for firmware updates. Use this diagram if you need help getting set up: ONCE YOUR TV HAS A WIRED CONNECTION, DO THE FOLLOWING: Press the MENU Click SYSTEM SETTINGS Then ABOUT Then SYSTEM UPDATES You'll be advised that your system is currently up to date or requested to select CHECK NOW for the latest update. If a new version is available, it downloads automatically. FIRMWARE UPDATES WILL ALSO UPDATE LG ULTRA HD 4K SMART TV AND LG APPS AT THE SAME TIME.

  3. Hallo, i am trying to update my LG 55UF850T to webOS 3.x due to UHDTV and HDR compatibility. Update via menu not possible. It shows 2.2.1 as the most current version. I downloaded 3.x via the website and copied it to a USB stick as mentioned in the guideline. Now the problem: USB stick is recognized as a Smart Share device but the firmware and folder do not trigger the update process. Question: is there a technical guideline on how to proceed, e.g. Via the hidden Support menu? Any other ideas or procedures that I can trigger? please advice. Rob
  4. Dear all, Have my 2 month old LG E6 connected to my amp using ARC via HDMI and i used that to send the audio from Amazon/Netflix/Youtube apps on the TV back to my amp. The audio is fine for everything but YouTube, which is out of sync. I've tried using the audio sync adjustment on the TV but can't get it right despite the adjustment. I've heard others on other forums complain of the same issue with this app. Is there somewhere I can raise an issue with LG for this problem? I wonder how often the youtube WebOS app is updated, maybe a new one is due soon? Thanks all! S.

  7. h265

I have had my 55" 4k tv for just over a year now and am finding that it plays less and less MP4 files. I believe it may be because they are h265 files. Is it really hard to update the TV. If I had known that it will not play recent files I would have considered buying a different TV. It also seems to have a problem playing some MKV files as well.
  8. Since two weeks or so, finally the WebOS store became available in the Netherlands. Unfortunately for me some very desired apps are still missing. These apps are: - Soundcloud - Spotify - IMDB Does anybody know if they are to be released in the Netherlands soon? Are they already available in other countries? In the web browser both Spotify and Soundcloud cannot be used because flash is not supported. Will there be flash support in the future? Before WebOS I used a Western Digital Live TV media player, WebOS is such a relieve in comparison to the WD media player. If these apps become available soon, WebOS is for sure the best smart-tv OS.
  9. There are numerous articles on the web saying that LG is bringing webOS 3.0 to its 2016 TV lineup, most likely showcasing it at CES in January. This is good news as LG continues development on webOS. The Verge: http://www.theverge.com/2015/12/21/10636280/lg-smart-tvs-webos-3-update-ces-2016 WebOS 3.0 has a few notable features. You'll be able to split your screen into two different channels at the same time, or one channel and another source like a Blu-ray player. You can also run LG's Music Player app through your speaker setup with the TV turned off, as well as control LG smart appliances using LG's IoTV app. The software's new standout functions, however, are a trio of "magic" features — LG's stand-in for "smart" — aimed at taking advantage of webOS 3.0's deeper hardware integration. Magic Zoom will let you magnify any portion of the screen without any loss in picture quality, according to LG. The company is also updating its Magic Remote so it can toggle set-top boxes on and off and control DVR functions as well. Magic Mobile Connection is an Apple AirPlay-like feature that lets users stream apps from their smartphone to LG smart TVs. None of those appear all that "magic," but they do bring some unique capabilities to webOS 3.0. LG is also updating its interface with new Channel Advisor and Channel Plus recommendation features. Similar to TiVo, Channel Advisor will analyze what and how you watch to predict what you'll want to see and suggest upcoming time slots. Channel Plus will mix in broadcast channels with over-the-top streaming into a unified list, to help remove barriers to how viewers consume live and cable TV versus streaming services like Netflix. ZDNet: http://www.zdnet.com/article/lg-smart-tvs-to-get-webos-3-0/ The company released webOS as open source in the hopes companies like LG would adopt it for commercial products. According to LG it has been developing a major version of webOS for use on its 2016 line of smart TVs. New features in webOS 3.0 include watching videos from two different sources at the same time. It also supports streaming from smartphones to the TV. LG is highlighting three features on webOS 3.0 under the "Magic" brand, including Magic Remote, Magic Zoom, and Magic Mobile Connnection. Magic Zoom is intriguing as LG claims TV owners can magnify objects and text without degrading picture quality. The new smart TVs featuring webOS 3.0 will be launched at the CES next month.
  10. Hi people, I bought a LG 49UH650V 49" 4k. Even though it is a very good quality TV, I'm struggling trying to sort out a problem that seems apparently easy to solve. I'm italian and I live in the United Kingdom and I set up the TV to use it in the UK. I want to watch the italian tv as well which all the channels are on HotBird 13E. The tv has set by default Astra 28.2E satellite, only this one is listed. In the upper right corner there is a button with a plus symbol [+], I think this is for adding a new satellite, but it is not enabled, I'm not allowed to click on it. Very sad. Does anybody know how to enable that button, please? Many thanks Bye. Software Version 04.30.40
  11. It's been noted on various forums that some LG TV owners can change the country code through the ez adjust service menu. For example: http://forums.webosnation.com/lg-webos-tv/328085-hulu-plus-netflix-overseas-lg-webos-tv.html It appears the instructions covered in the link above are for webos 2.0 versions. Changing country code has allowed many users to download apps not available in your own country. A small amount of forums state that some LG TV owners cannot change the country code through the ez adjust service menu. For example: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/687684-LG-WebOS-TV-s-cannot-change-region-to-get-Netflix-etc?p=15362222&viewfull=1#post15362222 Some of those owners report a different menu, most likely those users NOT using webos 2 and are using webos 1.0 or webos 1.5 In Australia on my TV I see - 7. Country Group Country Group Code 19 Country Group AJ Country -- 8. Area option Area code 263 Wi-fi Frequency 7 Lang Gr. ALL Teletext Lang Gr. W_EU I II Save On HDEV Off MONO Off Location 0 Isolator 0 I found that the South African user posted that they had a similar menu: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/687684-LG-WebOS-TV-s-cannot-change-region-to-get-Netflix-etc?p=15362222&viewfull=1#post15362222 Comparison between Australian and South African users posting about the issue - Area Option Area Code - South Africa: 259 Australia: 263 Wi-fi frequency - South Africa: 3 Australia: 7 I note that the difference between the Area Code between the two countries (263-259) equals 4. Further, the difference between the Wi-fi frequency between the two countries (7-3) equals 4. I suspect that it is possible to change the country and thereby download apps from another country. I think the USA Area code is 02. Anyone figured out how? Perhaps posting up your Country Group Code and Area Code (IF you have webos 1.x) may be a step towards this process.

  17. Hi All, I recently bought a LG Smart TV with WebOS (42LB6500) and would like to connect to my external hard disk connected over network. Here is how my home network and devices are setup. I have a high speed broadband that comes to my WiFi router (D-Link DSL 2750U) with USB support for External HDD. I have connected my Seagate Ex.HDD to this router and I am able to access the drive over WiFi on my smartphone and computer using the network path \\192.168.1.1\... Once connected I am able to use it similar to any mount location, i.e., read/write files, play media, etc., I want to do similarly with my TV, I would like to use this connected Ex. HDD as any other location and would like to achieve following two things at the least without any additional hardwarePlay media files on this HDD (very very important) Use the HDD as recording device for timeshift/live pause feature (important) Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Rukmaj
  18. I saw this TV for €749. Since someone answered on amazon.de that the Magic Remmote will work I decided to grab this TV. Now my Magic Remote arrived and I have problems registering it with the TV. When I press the wheel-button I get te message "Failed to register Magic Remote. Please try again". I already tried changing the location from Austria to Germany (as described in another thread here), hoping to get a firmware update to resolve this problem. Would be great if anyone could help me to make it work!
  19. Hi to all.... MY TV is LB6520 42 inch with firmware v 4.65.XX From yesterday, suddenly the magic remote stopped working except the cursor was moving on screen & using the wheel on remote channel change was working. All the buttons & clicks stopped working. Even my LG blu ray player remote which I use for operating TV on/off, volume, channel change etc. Stopped working. But the android LG TV Plus app was working smoothly. So using the app, I reset the TV from 'Settings' menu. Now at primary initialization phase where 'Language' & 'Country' selection is done, I cant click on 'OK' button [as no button/clicks are working on both the remotes]. Screenshot attached. So I struck on this screen & can't proceed. Is there any other way to perform the clicks for initial setup like using laptop, mouse etc.? Please Please Hep me. Note: TV bought from UAE. Now I'm in Bangladesh. Country was set to S Africa. No problem I faced in my 1 year operation of the TV. - Ripan

  21. I own a 65UF6450 and it currently has WebOS 3.11.00 installed. I'm trying to change the names of my inputs from HDMI1, HDMI2, and HDMI3 to something a bit more meaningful. I've looked online and everyone says to go into the input hub. To get there, I must either go into advanced settings or select All Inputs on the input sub menu; however, neither of those options is available to me when navigating the menus and I am left unable to change the labels. Is my version of WebOS special? Or am I not looking in the right place? Thanks for you help. mike
  22. NEWBIE NEVER POSTED BEFORE: I want to connect any compatible LG wireless headset to my LG webOS TV UF6450, my is on me to get this done because my wife likes to fall asleep earlier than me and I know this would work if my TV had the Wireless Sound Sync feature. I have emailed LG support and the chat service, neither one has attempted to respond and it has been over a week since I've written them. The following is what I keep sending LG over and over: I’m trying to connect any set of LG wireless headphones to my LG TV webos 55UF6450 Ultra 4K with the weboS 3.10.80 software and my Smart LG TV came in the box with the weboS 2.1 software. However, every forum or LG help center related to the weboS 2.0-3.22 Behive-Big Horn edition software (same as my LG TV) illustrates a Wireless Sound Sync feature in the Sound Out function, but I don’t have the Wireless Sound Sync feature, which according to the LG site I should have it on my TV. I have exhausted every search for an entire 3 days straight to no avail. I called the tech support last night and the lady I spoke with said “NO old or new LG SMART TV would be compatible with any LG Wireless Headphones. I told her I read on the LG site that the HBS-700, HBS-730 and HBS-800 would work with my TV, only if I had the Wireless Sound Sync feature. Hope I explained right and didn't put too much in the post.

  25. Hi to all who was waiting for some news/updates from LG for this model of TV. The new firmware was added three days ago. link to firm: http://www.lg.com/za/support-product/lg-42LB652T Difference between before and after in software/OS version. Before After WebOS ver is still 1.X Hopefully LG will work out to develop better OS in future for this model. So far the OS cannot be used for internet browsing or similar activities, it looks to me that this software is only "Beta" version. Will test and see what is the difference between the old OS and the new one. Kind Regards,
