  1. @DavidW Thanks for the feedback. It is also possible that LG blocked it for certain 2015 TV's, because the age of the hardware, maybe it does not support the app very well, or it performs badly/slowly.
  2. @Diego Garrisi Thanks for reporting back that a reset to factory defaults fixed it. It may help others that get this odd issue.
  3. @Oskar Farbaniec You can ONLY dowload the apps that exist for YOUR specific TV in YOUR country, from the LG store. If it is NOT THERE, then you cannot get it. You can of course connect your XBOX to your TV, and use it as a display screen. I am NOT a gamer, but I would suspect you can get a "game pass" using your XBOX account on yout PC (XBOX stuff is "built in" to Windows 10 I believe), then use those details on the XBOX attached to your TV? The Gaming experts on here can hopefully chime in here, and add details that I am unable to.
  4. @Chalapathirao Vanapalli From: https://twitter.com/SonyLIV/status/999897399995715585 ( Posted 28th NOV 2020 ) "Hey! We are glad to inform you that the SonyLIV App is now available on LG Web OS - on post-2018 TV models. You can now watch your favorite content. Please let us know if you face any issues and we would be happy to help you" [ Of course, this will NOT be all countries and all models - you may have to ask your local country LG support for specifics ]
  5. @DavidW It is most likely NOT available in your country for your specific TV model.
  6. @Ha Duy Unfortunately most smart TV's, including LG, have their own built-in browser app, that is tied to the operating system inside the TV. In the LG case, this is WebOS. Also of course, the YouTube APP is a "browser wrapper" app that SPECIFICALLY uses the YouTube site. You cannot change that either. However, there are a couple of hints further down that MIGHT help you. Smart TV's are NOT like a PC (although many think they have the same functionality AND architecture, but that is FAR from the truth), and so software cannot just be changed or added to in an uncontrolled way. All LG TV's (and most others too), are limited to be able to use a very controlled "app store", so that ONLY apps that are know to work properly on specific models, in specific countries, can be downloaded and used. So, the browser in an LG TV will be a proprietary one, and will NOT allow extensions or ad-blockers. However, having said all that, for general advertising (other than YouTube ads) that might be bothering you, try this first: For LG sets, press the Settings button on your remote and head to All Settings > General > LivePlus and turn it off. You may also want to turn off personalized advertising from All Settings > General > About This TV > User Agreements from the General page. For YouTube ads, these tend to be "in-content" ads, driven by the owners of YouTube, i.e. GOOGLE. The problem there, is that the ads will come from MANY sources, and you will NOT be able to block those easily. You COULD purchase a YouTube premium subscription, that is SUPPOSED to be "ad free", but I am not sure if you can log in on the YouTube TV app to do that (maybe a user on this forum has done that, and post experiences of doing that on here)? - I rarely use the TV apps (other than specific TV channel apps) , as I find them too buggy, especially the browser and YouTube, so I cannot advise on that part. However, if BROWSER ads are cuasing you an issue, or some TV function or player is giving you unwanted ads still, even after you altered the settings recommended above, you COULD try this hint below, provided you can log into your router, and it has a content filter: From https://techpenny.com/how-to-block-ads-on-a-smart-tvs/ In the content filter of your router, put the following URLs for blocking: ngfts.lge.com us.ad.lgsmartad.com lgad.cjpowercast.com edgesuite.net us.info.lgsmartad.com
  7. @Diego Garrisi Does that happen ONLY during your Sky box programme viewing? Have you ever seen it using Live TV? If the Sky box only, I would guess it COULD be just a "waiting for data" status indicator, if it is a very quick, occasional thing (as it appears to be, in the 6 second video). Is you box fed via a Dish, or Antenna (Cable TV), or internet feed only?
  8. @Taigini Your "room mate" is presumably using YOUR internet service, therefore using the same Home network that your TV is on? if so, then the ONLY way I can think of to stop him doing that, is to log into your router, and create a "guest" account for him to use exclusively, with his own account and password. Then you will have to change the "normal" WiFi password and keep it secret. If you have never logged into your router before, Google the make/model details for the default account, and PLEASE change the admin account password from "admin" to a secure password if not done already, otherwise it opens up a BIG security hole for hacking. The check if you model supports guest accounts (many do, just for your sort of situation, or for when friends stay over).
  9. @Alanf Thanks for the clarification. I do NOT believe that ANY LG TV's come with an internal HDD or SSD for recording, so I am at a loss to know HOW you successfully recorded anything to watch later (unless you had some sort of "cloud" app that you subscribed to, using an Internet Cloud based service)? There is very little normal memory inside smart TV's to use for recording functions, it is used for the WebOS, and the app storage, and data buffers. My old Samsung had a few MB of memory allocated for a 30 second "pause" of live TV, but that was all it had. I suspect that once you had set up your HDD for PROPER TV based recording, your TV now needs to go back to that do do the job it was designed to do. Why did you need to remove that to "defeat" your Time Machine based recording function?
  10. @oscarodas While it IS possibly a remote fault, I would think it is MUCH more likely to be the Bluetooth functionality failing inside the TV. The little combo card is inside the TV. If you know what you are doing, it is easy to replace (take back cover off TV, locate the little card, unplug cable, carefully put in the new card, plug the little ribbon cable plug back in). If still under warrantee, try to get it done via LG service.
  11. @LG user 42LB6500-TH Refresh rate is ONLY to do with screens, devices connected should have no bearing on the issue. Did you try an empty USB stick, downloading the ZIP file from the LG site on your PC/Laptop, then unzip the file into the ROOT of the USB stick (i.e. NOT in a folder), then following the USB firmware install steps? https://www.lg.com/in/support/product/lg-42LB6500-TH
  12. @[email protected] I have never seen cut/paste on a TV, as it is very different to a PC. I beleive you are supposed to load your IPTV app first on your PC or Laptop, then create your account there, then set up you channels on that device first. THEN when all set up, log in on your TV, and you should all be good to go, as the info is held on the IPTV servers under your account profile.

@Clyde Carson and any other forum users: This forum is for peer-to-peer help and comments ONLY, and it NOT OWNED or run by LG in any way. It happens to be called the LG WEBOS forum, becuase that is the main subject matter regarding posts on here, for LG enthusiasts to react with, and provide user to user help. LG have NO associated representatives on here, and even IF they actually monitor posts, they have NO obligaton to officially (or even unofficially) respond. Your best bet is to find if your local country LG has a Facebook page, or a Twitter feed, and pressure them that way. Mention what OTHER smart TV models have this, and ask when they are planning to provide the app on their models.
  14. @Alanf I reread your original post, and it seems that I misinterpreted what you posted about, BUT your post is not very clear about the issue. So, can you please clarify the questions below: 1) Have you already added a NEW HDD drive to one of your USB sockets on the TV already, and you are able to record live TV successfully? 2) If above is correct, are you then trying ANOTHER USB device with photos/music etc, then find it hard to get back to TV functions, or to the recorded schedule? 3) please carify what you mean by "How do I switch back to TV recording" (i.e. the Time Machine schedule, or something else)? NOTE: if playing back photos/music/mp4 from aUSB stick, it is best to CLOSE (EXIT) the playback app that is used, so that the USB stick can be safely removed. Once removed, you should be returned to the previous function or programme. If not, use the "return" button.
  15. @oscarodas The magic remotes split the button functions between regular Infra-Red (for power, volume and the other defined buttons that you have that work), but the others rely on BlueTooth technology, similar to how a PC Wireless Mouse communicates. There is a very small circuit board inside (about 2 inches square), that is a Combo card, supplying both the Bletooth AND the WiFi functions. I had mine fail a few months back, after a storm. I have a spare card, but I have not bothered to replace it yet, as I found a workaround (see below): I downloaded the "LG TV PLUS" app into my smart phone, and it works as a very good replacement for those lost functions. I beleive this works for most Android and Apple phones. Small learning cureve, but generally easy to use, so long as your TV is on the home network. If the card has failed completely (so no WiFi as well), try using a LAN cable direct to your router.
  16. @Toxo Interesting, thanks for the info. It seems to be run as "snu.lge.com" (an LG Electronics site), with all the sub-domains there for software DEV and development partners.
  17. @northern wallster Please clarify your internet setup, as the WiFi = Wireless, Ethernet Cable is a LAN (direct) connection to your router.. What does "4gee" mean? What router make/model are you using for your Internet Service? Hopefully not a "hot-spot" or 4G SIM/Phone service, as these are often glitchy and unreliable.
  18. @Alanf Did you format the drive for TV use by its "Time Machine II" recording functionality? If so, please explain in more detail what is going wrong, step by step?
  19. @Toxo I thought most smart TV's used the antenna feed, that is "OTA" Over The Air updating? Any exprts out there can correct me on this if inccorrect.
  20. @raspia What country are you using the LG TV, and how did you update the firmware? Did you download it yourself, or was it an Auto Update by the TV itself? The reason I ask, I have just spotted this from Wikipedia: "ivi (ivi.ru) is a Russian online video streaming service which offers licensed video content, including more than 65,000 titles of movies, TV shows, cartoons and music videos. " So, unless yoiu are using that TV in Russia, that "ivi load" thing is NOT Valid, and points to a bug/mistake in the firmware image build by LG for your country, or you got a "suspect download" image if you did it yourself manually, and use a USB stick.
  21. @Csaba Bakó Did you follow what @CpRivers found to work? That is, media centre and PlayOn? If you computer is a Windows 10 system, I recommend you ensure to get it updated to the latest Feature Update called 20H2, as many user have found this works very well "projecting" the screen to many TV models, including many of the newer, and certain older LG models. That way you can use any of the Video Players, such as VLC, WMP (Windows media Player), YouTube, Cyberlink etc, and "mirror" the PC screen. You can also try using the in-built File Explorer, go to your Video Library, right-click on a video file, and try the "cast-to" option. If your TV is on the same network as the PC and recognised, you should be able to play it over the network. NOTE: you will need too ensure that "Media Streaming" is turned on in the Windows 10 settings app or Control Panel. Theasiest way to find that, is to click on the notifications bubble icon at the bottom right, choose "all settings", then in the search box type in the word media, then you will be able to select the Media Streaming settings shown in the select list. Turn that function ON, ensure ALL your media devices (DLNA servers, and the TV) on the network are turned on, and ensure you have ticked the "allow" for them to be used. The DIVX video player ALSO has its own media server that i have played with for streaming to a TV, but it is a bit clunky, AND the DIVX Server stays active in the background when finished playing your videos, and will stop the PC from staying in SLEEP mode, unless you right-click on it and exit it after use.
  22. @northern wallster Please post WHAT model the LG TV is, and confirm that the TV is actually connected to The Internet (either via a LAN cable directly to your router, or via your WiFi 2.4GHz band, or the 5GHz band if your router has 802.11ac dual band support).
  23. @Vijay Kumbhani The picture does no really show us anything, other than the TV settings UI is waiting. Did you check with your smartphone as requested in my previous post, to see the strength of the WiFi arc/bars ICON at the top of your phone, when near the TV? Do you know if the 2.4Ghz and 5GHz WiFi bands are using the same SSID name, or have different names on your router? Some routers have them the same, which makes it difficult to know which band you various devices are connected to. The signal strength by the TV would be useful to know . How far is the TV from the router by the way? If you have a Windows 7 or 8.1, or Windows 10 laptop, download the excellent utility from NIRSOFT, called WiFiInfoView, that will give you details of ALL reachable WiFi routers and SSID names "near" you. Of course the strongest signals are going to be the ones from YOUR router, and even if the SSID names are the same for both bands, this utility will show your both, and the strength and quality of the signals for both bands. It is also useful to find if your neighbours routers are using the same channels, so you can check your router, log in and change the channels to ones with less interference (see my earlier post reproduced below for suggestions on that). https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wifi_information_view.html NOTE: the download link is about three-quarters of the way down the page. When downloaded, unzip the ZIP file into its own empty location, then double-click on the .EXE file inside your newly created folder for that program. In case you missed it, here is my previous recommendation to follow, and suggested WiFi channel numbers to try. Also, if yo have a very old router, that could be your issue (e.g. an N600), so please post the make and model of your router). "If you check your smart phone WiFi "bars" in the room where the TV is located (NOT the phone network signal bars), does the strength look "good" (i.e. all arc lines), or just a couple highlighted? Is the TV using a 2.4GHz band, or a 5GHz band? Which is the best/strongest signal in the TV room? What channels are those bands using (log into the router, go to config -> WiFi -> advanced settings to check). If on defaults (say 1 and 100), change them to channel 8 for the 2.4GHz, and 36 for the 5GHz, and ensure that the SSID names are 8 characters or less, with NO special characters in the name. The router make and model would be useful to know."

  25. @murugess Hotstar is ONLY available in India, USA and Canada currently. You will NOT be able to get the APP on your TV if not ACTUALLY in one of those 3 countries. HOWEVER, you may wish to try using a VPN service to "configure" your location to be, say an Indian IP address location, then you MIGHT be able to view shows via the app downloaded on to your Laptop/PC. Here is an example, but I offer NO guarrantees, as Hotstar could tighten up their location checking for VPN use: https://www.purevpn.com/how-to-access/hotstar-outside-india
