  1. @Spencer Cook It is possible that it is either a minor firmware bug, OR an intermittent SSD disk error, that causes the recording to stop. To eliminate that, take the SSD off the TV, connect it to your laptop or PC, then run the checkdsk command on it. That will be in the "cmd" option (it calls the black window like the old DOS command window. See how to here; https://computing.which.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/115005587645-How-to-use-CHKDSK-Check-Disk-to-repair-a-hard-drive If no joy, you might need to purchase "Spinrite" that is a very good disk analyser and fixer, that might force it to do a proper "wear levelling" on any off spec memory areas on the SSD. It is around $USD 70, but you get a lifetime licence and support. See here: https://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm
  2. @Robs1 Possibly an update might have broken the power feed option on the TV? Try toggling the LNB power options on the TV from off to on (then let it re-scan if it needs to). Can you do a reset to factory settings on the TV ? If so you should be able to replicate the situation (software wise) you were in when it was installed? if the problem is still there you will likely need to lodge a fault with LG, "there is no power feed from the TV to the dish"
  3. @Spencer Cook Has recording ever worked properly on the new TV, with that SSD? What was it used for before? Did you let the new TV format it to ITS requirements?
  4. @PastaMark If you are NOT using the Sonon Beam with Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant, try using the phone setup app for it, to see if you can disable HDMI-CEC on the Sonos.
  5. @Richard Hollander The LG Smart TV will have its own antenna/cable tuner. and only "knows about" it's own TV GUIDE. The Tivo set-top-box is a totally seperate box, with its own tuners, and the TV does NOT have access to its tuners, so therefore cannot see the channels it provides. The channels that YOU select on the Tivo box are fed directly to the TV via the HDMI cable, so are treated as an external signal source.
  6. @PastaMark I beleive it is called Simplink on many LG TV's. It shows some settings pictures here: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/lg-tv-settings-guide,review-5624-14.html
  7. @George Hofmeister Thanks for your thought provoking, and insightful comments on this subject. I was making the (fairly logical) assumption that it was due to a failed deal between LG & Freeview Play, as the article I quoted from seemed to suggest that. Although, of course unless we are able to get sight of leaked emails and all the negotiation and monetary details (highly unlikely), we will probably nerver get to know what the issue was, or which direction the "royalty money flow" actually was going. I looked at the article I found below, an article that mentioned the fees that Roku charge for "ease-of-use" direct access buttons (like Netfix and Stan etc), and I had never thought about that. It is quite an innovative "Business Model" that seems very lucrative! Thanks for opening my eyes to this! 🤑 https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2020/4/24/21232655/netflix-button-tv-remotes-advertisement-marketing-streaming
  8. @Diego Garrisi Many thanks for posting that solution, I am sure it will help others on here..
  9. @Garden Thanks for the useful feedback, Yes, many users are finding that odd irritating issues are fixed by turning off that "quick start" feature. Apologies I thanked the wrong person/source for the extra information in my previous post.
  10. @Kumara Manohara Thanks for the useful feedback, Yes, many users are finding that odd irritating issues are fixed by turning off that "quick start" feature.
  11. @Vijay Kumbhani Many thanks for your input and useful pictures. I am sure this will help people a lot, who have WiFi issues..
  12. @Michael Burnd Many buyers feel the OLED is the best, but do your product research, look at reviews, to make sure you get the right one for your needs.
  13. I can see the bright part near the bottom. It looks like screen damage of some sort. Has anything been pushed against that part of the screen, or anything fallen against it just prior to you noticing this? It certainly does not look fixable.
  14. @Vijay Kumbhani Are you saying that by changing the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 fixed your slow WiFi startup? If your router DNS service is set to that (8.8.8.8 primary with 4.4.4.4 as secondary DNS server), then the default in the TV would be to use the routers setting, that should use what the router is using anyway. The automatic settings leave it to use your ISP DNS services, which is not always the most secure or safest thing to do. If you are saying that the default setting in the TV is slow (and you have your router already set up for 8.8.8.8/4,4,4,4), but using 8.8.8.8 in the TV DIRECTLY (i.e. specifically defining it there) stops the slowness issue, then that is definitely a buggy situation with the LG TV WiFi DNS usage and operation. Unless of course you have some unusual or special advanced DNS settings in your router, or you have IPV6 services enabled, or an IPV6 server setup (not normally necessary for Home Networks).
  15. @Arthur Dent I am not sure if the older firmware is held anywhere, but it is possible that someone on here MIGHT have a copy that can be posted on Dropbox or Google docs. I don't have it. By the way, I noticed there is a later firmware, 05.00.10 with minor bug fixes, might be worth trying that. However, in the meantime, odd irritating issues have been fixed according to some posts I see, by turning off the QuickStart option: Press the Home/Smart button on your remote to bring up your launcher bar. Click the Settings icon in the top-right. Choose the All Settings option at the bottom. Choose the General menu from the left. Under Quick Start +, set it to Off.
  16. @Michael Burnd It sounds like a screen fault, but if you post the LG TV model and year of purchase, and country you are using it in, PLUS upload/insert a photo of the issue, some experts on here might have advice or suggestions.
  17. @PastaMark You might need to turn off the HDMI-CEC control for the eARC port connected device, either on the Sonos settings, or in the TV HDMI settings, whichever works best for you. Ensure you have the latest firmware in your TV, as a lot of devices had firmware updates over the last 12 months or so, due to changes in eARC specifications. It is 03.21.10 for your model I believe.
  18. @tonygumus I see that is a 2015 model, so not sure if it is the later Bluetooth specs or not. I think Bluetooth 4.0 has more options? I have not yet seen a good list of tested alternative Bluetooth Headphones, other than the official LG Sound Sync ones, but I saw that some of those are not always working with older sets. You might want to review this site below, and if their adaptor is available in your country (if needed), and/or a usable alternative to connecting up if your do need it: https://avantree.com/au/blog/how-to-connect-wireless-headphones-to-lg-tv.html
  19. FYI: while researching some other LG mysteries, I came across this GREAT site with VERY good visuals explaining the different model numbering schemes for all the older and newer LG models. This goes from 2011 through to 2020, and is very comprehensive and easy to understand, so hats off to whoever put this all together: https://en.tab-tv.com/?page_id=7111 Apologies if this has been posted before (and the experts on here may know this stuff already), but even if in the middle of a thread, I think it deserves its own seperate topic. I am sure it will help someone.. 😊
  20. @Kumara Manohara FYI: from the LG USA firmware updates Reference fly-out page (or only the first 2 if not in the country list for fix 3): [05.00.03] 1. Launcher visibility improvement 2. Launcher exposure when TV is turned on 3. LG Channel service improvement and expansion (Korea, North America, Europe, Brazil only) I hope this helps.. 😊
  21. @Fawad Ashraf As far as I know, there are NO LG engineers commenting on here (maybe retired ones occasionally)? As this is only an LG WebOS peer-to-peer enthusiasts forum, you are only likely to get tips and help for problem workarounds, and NOT official LG fixes. This forum has NO CONTROL over LG whatsoever, and it is NOT owned or run by them. Your best course of action, is to either contact your local country LG support, and put in a call or complaint there. It might also be useful to voice your complaints and loss of functionality and enjoyment on the LG Twitter feed for your country, or the Facebook forum for your country. You can just Google search for Facebook LG US (for USA for example).
  22. @Laurie Reynolds Depending on the LG model and firmware version, one (or both) of these might fix the slow WiFi issues: 1) Open the built-in app, Screen Share, from Recents. 2) Click on Listen Mode. 3) Set it to Off. The other setting to turn off, is Quickstart (or Quickstart+ on some models) When done, power off and unplug your TV for 30 seconds, plus back in, and turn on. If the WiFi is still slower than it should be, ensure it is on the 5GHz band rather than on the 2.4GHz band, as depending on your router and Internet service, you SHOULD be able to get a minumum of 600Mbps with 5GHz (hopefully higher with better routers), but the 2.4GHz tends to max out at 300Mbps. NOTE: this will still be 3 times the 100Mpbs max for the Ethernet LAN cable connection, as there are no 1GBE LAN cards (1000Mpbs) in LG TV sets at the moment as @George Hofmeister says. If your 5GHz Wifi is still slow, log into your router, and go to the WiFi advanced setup for the 5GHz network, and ensure it is on a lower channel than 100, I find that channel 36 works well in my location, some find 44 is good.
  23. @[email protected] I noted from the article below: https://www.whathifi.com/au/news/lgs-2020-tvs-finally-get-iplayer-and-other-bbc-streaming-apps That: "It's not all good news, though: there's still no update on when (or even if) these 2020 TVs will get ITV Hub, All4 and My5. While iPlayer is clearly the most valued of the UK's catch- up services, many people consider the full suite to be the least that should be expected from a smart TV platform. In fact, LG's 2019 TVs all shipped with all of these apps, thanks to LG's partnership with Freeview Play. One wonders if LG is regretting having not renewed that partnership into this year." So, it would appear to be a contractual or commercial issue, rather than technical. By being "cheapskates" , LG will suffer in the longer term, by frustrating users. Annoyed/unhappy users usually vote with their feet, and buy a competing brand!! All manufactures should take note that in this open, competitive market, with online reviews and more savvy users, they cannot afford to take missteps like this. Listening too much to the "bottom-line" driven accountants, and NOT taking proper advice from technical and development engineering teams, can have a negative effect both on the end product, AND the brand, as we are seeing here (and other forums).
  24. @DavidW Thanks for the feedback. It is also possible that LG blocked it for certain 2015 TV's, because the age of the hardware, maybe it does not support the app very well, or it performs badly/slowly.
