It would be amazing to be able to use the Philips HUE and synchronize the lights with the video and audio of the LG TV. Thanks

YES. PLEASE ADD THIS! I can currently do "free" or non-DRM content using Hue Sync from a PC but it would be a HUGE feature to add this natively to WebOS. Application needs to send information about the displayed colors on a given area of the screen to the Hue Bridge over WiFi link. Hue Bridge would then tell the Hue Lights how and when to change color values. As there is no way to output video from the TV, the content providers should not have any DRM concerns. This would be the absolute cleanest solution and at least in the US market and would funnel so many buyers towards LG units. Summary of wish: Feature to be added to the "all settings" menu somewhere under display Selection enables the TV to run Hue Sync software TV then connects to the Hue Bridge on customer premises Whatever content is displayed on the TV screen from whatever source (streaming, cable box, etc.) is analyzed by Hue Sync software for color/placement information TV sends color and screen area information in real time to Hue Bridge Hue Bridge tells Hue Lights the appropriate color adjustments to make Check it out in action:

Are we ever going to get Eurosport Player on lg smart TV ???

Please give us the option to remove Live TV from the Launcher and Home Menu, "Today" from the Home menu, and to auto-launch the last running app (like if you were watching Hulu when you turned off the TV. I don't have cable and all of these features are just a nuisance to me. Turning on my tv with the "No signal" or "Scrambled" message because I don't have any live channels is also annoying and looks very unpolished for a $5k TV... Thanks!

Hi, LG content store administrators! When will you give us Jio TV on WebOS. You have been left back by almost 2 years by other TV OS. At least compete with others in the present market. In the name of WebOS you are charging your customers heavily but you are not giving them even the minimum. Other TV manufactures e.g. MI, VU, Samsung, etc, are giving the world to their customers for a price as low as 60% of what you are charging. Still you have useless apps in your store which have no meaning at all for a TV and have left the stuffs that are inevitable in market. P K Prabhakar [email protected]

We need steam link app. We could use hardware steam link, but now, when it is discontinued by Valve, this app could be the way. Please respond, thanks!

Would love to see an app or webOS update that has a chromecast built in - so we can chromecast to the TV without requiring the google cast hdmi dongle. would be especially useful since there aren't too many featured apps (hbo go, etc) and these apps support google cast. Any plans to do this?

(*I'm a woman!) But no problem~ not sure why people can't just say "seems like I can't help you" & move on. Here's hoping LG & HBO get their shit together and get us an actual app!

You mentioned you have hulu? You should be able to subscribe to HBO through Hulu and then access the shows through the LG hulu app. I currently have a PS4 that has HBO otherwise I'd probably subscribe through hulu or amazon instead

For all those who bemoan the lack of support from LG when things do not work as expected the following article makes interesting reading: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2019/01/smart-tvs-are-dumb/581059/ Personally I have worked in the tech world long enough to already have realised all the points made by the author and have adjusted my expectations accordingly (not just with my LG Smart TV but many other products).

Good luck with all the time wasted looking for an answer, but whomever said, unplug your tv, anything hooked up to it, and unplug your router should be highly rewarded with a big bag o’ cash. This worked for me. I did every option except changing the dns - that looked too scary, I did re-set, went to every available thing available. Use my phone as a hot spot? Come on? Lg is supposed to be the best and this is something someone had to figure out as an option? Very disappointed with my new tv not being smartly, and I was too stupid to know how to agree to a user agreement, was making me think I actually had to hire someone to figure this out. I am in a learning curve with this, and the smart tv scenario is really defeating, but unplug, wait and find your user agreement and agree to them! Netflix marathon is happening.

Hey there, Does anyone know if it is possible to swap between watching something in Dolby Vision or HDR? The issue is when content is available in either option (depending on hardware watching on) the TV will always default to Dolby Vision but I would like the option to watch in HDR because sometimes it is too yellow and the picture setting options are limited in Dolby Vision. Thanks

This section of the forum is really aimed at those who develop apps for the platform, not those developers of the OS at LG.

I believe that someone elsewhere on the forum stated that Samsung have secured the rights to have HBO NOW on their platform, so LG and others are not able to release it in your region.

CHICAGO, ILL. AND TOULOUSE, FRANCE (PRWEB) JULY 24, 2018 Intuiface, provider of the world’s premier interactive experience creation platform, is pleased to announce support for the LG webOS operating system. All multi-touch content created with Intuiface software can now be run on all smart devices running webOS 3.0, 3.0+, and 4.0, including the LG TC3D series of Integrated Touch Boards with PCAP (projected capacitive) touch technology. With this announcement, Intuiface provides multi-touch signage option for webOS, enabling businesses to invest in and to realize the added benefits of interactive over passive signage. Built from the ground-up with touch capabilities at its core, Intuiface is a no-coding software platform enabling any organization to create and deliver gratifying, purposeful, data-driven digital experiences that connect people to place, powered by the latest interactive technologies. Advantages of interactive digital content include deeper, lasting engagement thanks to real-time personalization and the ability to track user preferences in context, generating actionable business insights. Organizations adopting webOS devices for digital signage distribution can now use the IntuiFace platform, empowering them to create personalized, template-free visual content, incorporate live connections to cloud-based data and APIs (including social networks, IoT, Web triggers), and adopt all core capabilities necessary for successful signage and kiosk deployments such as remote deployment, fine grained user data collection and analytics, scheduling, and the ability to work offline. The marriage between the Intuiface platform and webOS is rooted in work by Intuiface to port its HTML5-based runtime (aka Player) to the touch-enabled webOS Web browser. The result - complementing Intuiface’s previous work for other platforms – enables users and partners to both manually access and remotely deploy interactive experiences simply by entering a URL. The combination of Intuiface’s unique capabilities with the dramatically reduced total cost of ownership achieved by SoC-based LG webOS devices creates a compelling low-cost option in the signage market for content creation, deployment, and monitoring. It is estimated that projects built with these two platforms will reduce total cost of ownership by 65% and time-to-deployment by 50% over conventional display and content delivery approaches. “Devices running LG webOS, coupled with premier PCAP touch technology, have a price point and convenience that make interactive signage deployments – the natural evolution of passive signage – an excellent choice for businesses of any size,” added Vincent Encontre, COO, Intuiface. “Thanks to our technology partnership with LG, Intuiface has been able to make interactive signage creation accessible as well. We believe the market will be amazed at what can be achieved, triggering a significant increase in interactive webOS-based projects.” “Giving LG digital signage customers the ability to create multi-touch digital content through the Intuiface platform is consistent with our strategy to offer the best technology currently available in the industry,” said Jongjin Woo, ID Business Unit R&D Head, LG Electronics. “For organizations in search of an affordable, accessible path to creating interactive digital signage – even organizations with no development skills - Intuiface and LG offer a uniquely compelling, turnkey package.” Interactive experiences built using Intuiface Composer can be published to a public or private cloud storage account and then downloaded and run, using Intuiface Player, on the PCAP-based LG TC3D Interactive Digital Boards as well as on any other LG display series running LG webOS 3.0, 3.0+, or 4.0. Both Composer and Player can be trialed for free – without a time limit – or licensed with an annual subscription. Information for getting started can be found here. About Intuiface Intuiface is the world’s premier platform for creating, deploying, measuring and managing deeply interactive digital experiences without writing code. Over 1400 companies across 90+ countries are connecting people to place using interactive options such as touch, RFID/NFC, beacons, Web APIs, Internet of Things, and much more. When trying to load the Plex app on an LGWebOs smart TV, app says :- CHECK NETWORK CONNECTION Error CODE : -337 This may be a temporary issue. Please try again later. (RETRY) (EXIT APP) Firstly my network connection is fine. Netflix and YouTube loads and runs just seamlessly. This has only been happening in the last few months If I (RETRY) after a long wait sometimes it connects and loads correctly or I get the same error again. I have tried other Plex clients on my home server and they work just fine. Specs: LG OLED65C8PTA TV running Web OS 04.10.15. LG Plex client app is version 2.1.6 from Sep 2016 Plex server is on my QNAP NAS and at version 1.13.5.291 from Sep 2018. I guess my question is, if the LG Plex client app hasn't changed since 2016 and my Plex server is working for other clients, then what is going wrong? Cheers Noel

I watch LIVE TV all the time on the LG Smart TV, with an antenna for local broadcast. I'd never want to be without it.
  25. 1 point
Hi guys . as a work around . Web OS can remember the last input that was selected. You can change the input to one of the HDMI inputs so that whenever the TV is turned ON it will go to HDMI and just scroll through Random Beautiful Pictures saying No Signal . Another work arount is do an auto Scan or Auto tuning for live TV without Antenna or Cable connected so that it will not detect any channel, if it will not detect any channel , whenever you go to live TV it will just scroll through random images showing No signal. I hope LG can add a setting that can let the user to choose BETWEEN booting up to Inputs like what its currently doing AND booting up directly to the Homepage . I love the current setup because I use a Set Top Box and it works great but it will be better if there will be a settings like what I suggest above .

This is certainly very concerning. What's the average video quality on your Hotstar TV app? I think these issues are only temporary as it's a newly launched app. An update might be all that's needed. I also second George's suggestion to contact the Hotstar's customer care executive.

Hi George, that's a brilliant bit of sideways thinking. I did suggest but my wife didn't like the idea of putting legs on the back and making a coffee t ………………… Just a moment George, I've got to phone my wife, she's off to the municipal tip with the set. I must stop her. As well as cats, TV's might have nine lives also. Heading for eBay now. Thank you so much for your inspired guidance. If you ever need to know how to use a theodolite, give me a call. lol.

If you look at other recent posts on the forum you will see that Hotstar has released an app, its availability will be dependant on you region and possibly your model of TV. If you are in any doubt I would suggest contacting Hotstar's customer support to see if your model is supported, they are usually pretty good at responding. Of course you could always access the Hotstar website via your TV's web browser in the meantime.

Could you help me to downgrade my tv' s FW ?

I used to use a Sony MDR-1000x with it. Now using a Bose QC35 II and an Anker SoundBuds Slim. All working well, I find it the most useful feature of the TV. No need to worry about the neighbours and me listen the TV too loud.

True, if you're wanting to write data to the NTFS volume using macOS, you need to install non-standard drivers. But if you're wanting to pause live TV or record using the TV, you can get the TV to format the volume. Your mac can then *read* the NTFS volume without special drivers, although not sure what format the TV writes. Good luck!

I would like to be able to mount NFS shares (and possibly SAMBA/Windows shares, but these would be too slow to play HD videos ...) so that I can play videos directly without depending on a DLNA server. This is because the DLNA implemented by LG WebOS is still too primitive and does not allow to play x265 videos.

You would be better off asking where Steam Link for webOS is on the Steam forum as they are the ones who produce the software. If they can make it for multiple platform including competitors' TVs then they should be capable of porting it to webOS. https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/0/1692669912400498996/

Finally found a way to read a pdf file on LG WebOS. Upload your document to google drive from your PC or mobile phone. Then run the web browser at LG WebOS (TV). Type the web address of Google Drive (https://www.google.com/drive/) Then find your pdf document and click to open it. It is opened by Google Document Viewer automatically on yor TV. You can read the PDF file by using the controls on the page. This is an indirect method really to read a PDF file on your TV, but it is the only way that works for now
