Ignore the option of trying to download, basically the website is trying to read the browser identification string, failing and then offering you the nearest equivalent it has available.  The reason you are being told Chrome is not up to date is that the LG webOS browser is based on WebKit which is Apple's basis for its Safari browser and is used (or soon to be used, I'm looking at you Microsoft Edge) by pretty much every other major browser out there apart from Mozilla's Firefox.  Yes webOS is 'nix under the hood, but this does not mean that you can just install a Linux app on the system, it would have to be written and compiled especially for the platform.

How to Update Chrome which is embedded within the LG Web OS?

If you are visiting a website and getting this message it is because the site does not recognise the webOS browser and is miss-reporting it as being an out of date version of Chrome.  Sadly the only thing you can do is inform the owners of the site that it does not work with webOS and hope that they fix the issue.

I have an LG UK6500AUA. My WebOS version is 4.0.0-16022 (goldilocks-gayasam). I used the WebOS internet (*not the YouTube App) to log into my YouTube account. I wanted to comment in Live Chat. And I got this message:

"It looks like you are using an older version of your browser. Please update to use Live Chat."

What can I do ? ?  I'd like to able to comment in the live chat of YouTube...

Either call LG customer support see above number or send an email to chrome to see if they can push an update to LG...

or just take a deep breath and breathe easily because, maybe, nothing's going to change...

POSSIBLE CHROME UPDATE.....

When I landed on my LG WebOS 4.0 Home Page this morning, there was a message near the top of the screen that said something to the effect of "You have an older version of Chrome, press here to update to the latest version".

After I pressed that, it didn't download, but instead gave me the task of selecting which "Chrome for Linux" Package to download.

Option 1: 64bit.deb fir debian/Ubuntu

Option 2: 64bit.rpm/openSUSE for Fedora/open SUSE

Option 3: "Other" Link

Then, at the bottom of the page it said: "Google Chrome will automatically add the Google repository to automatically keep up to date."

----------------------------------------------

So my question is, should I always ignore such messages, or, if I can update Goggle Chrome, as I was prompted, WHICH OPTION SHOULD I CHOOSE???

Thanks George, I was hoping you would be able to answer my question and clear this up. I will ignore the update messages that pop up on my Home Page.

Since my lg-oled65c9pla auto-updated to WebOS 5.5, there is a new bug.
The TV is connected to my Cambridge Audio Evo 75 amplifier over ARC - on powering the TV, it has always started up the amp, and switched it to use audio, instead of the appalling TV speakers. The whole setup has worked flawlessly for 5 years, but since WebOS 5.5, the amplifier starts, but is left in a muted state, and using the un-mute or volume controls on the TV remote makes no difference to turning on audio. The only way to get audio to play though my amp a speakers is to turn the amp's volume dial or press a volume button on the a amp's remote - this then unmutes the TV and audio is back.
There is no setting I can find in the TV that relates to whether the ARC channel starts muted or not...
No software has changed in my amp.  This is an annoying new bug in the TV software, I assume down to some CEC changes.

I've just updated my LG 55UM75 TV to the latest software version - 05..20.15 - and now the picture looks off.
I've turned off TruMotion, Motion Eye Care, Smooth Gradation, Noise Reduction and Smooth Gradation, but somehow everything still looks artificial.
Is there another picture setting I'm missing, I've gone through every setting I can find.

      Hi there,

I have an LG smart TV OLED65G36LA (LG OS v03.20.17, webOS TV version 8.20.0-710) , and the Prime Video App was no longer able to update (from Dec 2025) and therefore could no longer be used.
I have tried uninstalling the app and re-installing, and that was unable to work, so then applied a full reset on the LG TV and so had to reinstall all of my other apps (Apple TV, Netflix, etc etc) which all successfully downloaded so confirmed network connections and setup are all confirmed working.
When I try to download the Prime Video app, it remains stuck on the download screen and is unable to update.
      Thanks

      Hi,
Since updating our OLED65G2PSA to 23.20.56, we experience sprodadic issues with the network where any app requiring network access shows the generic 'no network access' message.
I have found that when this does happen, I can still PING the TV and connect to IP based web pages.  To fix I can either power cycle the TV or I can go into network settings and toggle off/on 'Set automatically' which must just be triggering something in the underlying OS to reload its DNS service.
Setting a static IP makes no difference, setting a static DNS server makes no difference - it is clearly a software issue.  We have had a TV repair company come and replace the boards, which worked right up untill updating to 23.20.56 and beyond.

Has anyone else experienced this, does anyone have a solution ?

i've updated an oled 42C3 to software version 33.22.80 and after this update some videos doesn't work anymore, last week no problem. I have other videos with the same format and codecs and work, so i don't have any idea what can be the issue.
