Slight soap opera affect after latest firmware update

Question

Posted

I've just updated my LG 55UM75 TV to the latest software version - 05..20.15 - and now the picture looks off.

I've turned off TruMotion, Motion Eye Care, Smooth Gradation, Noise Reduction and Smooth Gradation, but somehow everything still looks artificial.

Is there another picture setting I'm missing, I've gone through every setting I can find.

Matt79,

I am somewhat relieved to find your question posted here as I am suffering from the same problem, I think. I cannot remove the effect like I used to be able to before the update. I went so far as to reset the TV to factory state and then have applied all the recommended settings to no avail. I tried a number of my own conceived solutions and all were unsuccessful. I am EXTREMELY sensitive to this effect and even though the current violation is not as bad as it was originally it is still clearly apparent. It's not just me, my girlfriend sees it to. It is effectively working to destroy my favourite hobby of watching films at home. I watch at least one film a day from all types of genres and the only thing that seems to alleviate this pain is watching films of the 30s/40s, or watching rarer films in SD.

What I am not relieved about is that your question has remained unanswered. So what gives? Where do we find out about the real deal on this type of thing and - most importantly - did you figure out how to correct it?

Please reply if you get this message. This is an SOS.

I have a C2 latest update 33.31.20. I think they did something with Dolby Vision so when you watch a movie in Dolby Vision try this: Go to Settings>Picture>Advanced Settings>Clarity and Disable Precision Detail.  And save it apply to all inputs.

Since my lg-oled65c9pla auto-updated to WebOS 5.5, there is a new bug.
The TV is connected to my Cambridge Audio Evo 75 amplifier over ARC - on powering the TV, it has always started up the amp, and switched it to use audio, instead of the appalling TV speakers. The whole setup has worked flawlessly for 5 years, but since WebOS 5.5, the amplifier starts, but is left in a muted state, and using the un-mute or volume controls on the TV remote makes no difference to turning on audio. The only way to get audio to play though my amp a speakers is to turn the amp's volume dial or press a volume button on the a amp's remote - this then unmutes the TV and audio is back.
There is no setting I can find in the TV that relates to whether the ARC channel starts muted or not...
No software has changed in my amp.  This is an annoying new bug in the TV software, I assume down to some CEC changes.

how can I fix lg soundbar model sn6y volume automatically going down after exactly 30 minutes if resetting, unhooking volume down button, drilling vent holes near motherboard, and running a cooling fan did not fix the problem.

      Hi,
I believe it started to happen after last update - version 03.53.45, maybe the one before. After I quit YouTube app, TV will not get signal from HDMI settopbox no matter I try. Only solution is to unplug and plug back HDMI cable which is really annoying. Is it known issue? Is there any fix? I tried few workarounds, like disabling smart features and so on, but no luck.
      TV model: OLED55B13LA
      Example:
Settopbox is powered on, TV is showing signal over HDMI, everything is fine. Then I open YouTube, after some time exit, switch back to HDMI input of settopbox and TV says no signal. I re-plug cable and then it works fine.

      Hi there,

I have an LG smart TV OLED65G36LA (LG OS v03.20.17, webOS TV version 8.20.0-710) , and the Prime Video App was no longer able to update (from Dec 2025) and therefore could no longer be used.
I have tried uninstalling the app and re-installing, and that was unable to work, so then applied a full reset on the LG TV and so had to reinstall all of my other apps (Apple TV, Netflix, etc etc) which all successfully downloaded so confirmed network connections and setup are all confirmed working.
When I try to download the Prime Video app, it remains stuck on the download screen and is unable to update.
      Thanks
