Would love to see an app or webOS update that has a chromecast built in - so we can chromecast to the TV without requiring the google cast hdmi dongle.  would be especially useful since there aren't too many featured apps (hbo go, etc) and these apps support google cast.  Any plans to do this?

    • LG selects Korbyt platform as webOS signage partner

This new combination will provide LG customers with a complete digital signage solution in the form of multi-functional displays without the need for additional external devices. The RMG Networks Korbyt platform has been selected as a webOS signage partner of global electronics giant LG. The combination will provide LG customers with a complete digital signage solution in the form of multi-functional displays without the need for additional external devices. It will also allow content managed within the Korbyt platform to be displayed directly onto webOS powered LG screens of all sizes, even mobile phones, thanks to the platform’s mobile app extension. In addition, LG’s clients already using webOS Signage can now choose to use the Korbyt platform for all their enterprise visual communications. Korbyt clients with a preference for LG webOS Signage can stay true to their choice of display hardware. Korbyt is RMG Networks’ state-of-the-art content management system for digital signage. It was developed with the aim of reinventing visual content creation, management and publishing across the widest possible range of digital end points. Featuring an intuitive user interface, including a drag-and-drop content creator, this cloud-based CMS engine enables companies to create immersive interactive visual communication applications which are reshaping customer, and employee, experiences. webOS Signage is LG’s Linux kernel-based multitasking operating system for smart devices, such as smart TVs, acting as a media player for digital signage applications. It can now leverage key capabilities of the Korbyt platform, providing users with access to a wealth of options for segmented realtime data and content visualisation around the globe. It can all be managed efficiently from one central or multiple locations via an intuitive web-based portal. Ben Johnston, vice president of product management at RMG Networks, said: “We are excited to be extending the reach of our Korbyt digital signage platform to LG webOS powered displays, and to be working with a huge company like LG. We recognise the quality, convenience, and performance that LG webOS provides to customers. “Combined with our industry-leading data integration and content creation features, customers now have access to a powerful digital signage solution without the need for an external media player. This is a game-changing development for the digital signage industry.” Source: https://www.avinteractive.com/news/business/lg-selects-korbyt-platform-webos-signage-partner-18-07-2018/

Commercial LG OLED Solutions At InfoComm 2018, LG will introduce slimmer-bezel versions of the 65-inch Ultra HD “Wallpaper,” 55-inch Full HD “In-Glass Wallpaper,” and 65-inch Ultra HD video wall LG OLED displays with a new super-slim bezel overlap seam (see separate release). LG’s proprietary OLED technology delivers perfect blacks, infinite contrast and incredible color from wide viewing angles, and are sure to elevate retail environments and art galleries with their cutting-edge picture quality. Video Wall Displays New in 2018 are 55-inch ultra-narrow 0.6 mm even bezel displays (model 55SVH7E) that can be combined to create one powerful and impactful video wall ideal for displaying content that resembles one continuous image as opposed to a collection of segmented panels. The new video wall expands LG’s portfolio of narrow bezel video wall displays, which includes VH7B, VM5B and VM5C series, all touting 0.9mm bezels. LG’s proprietary In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology ensures uniform, accurate color from virtually any viewing angle, empowering these video walls to produce unparalleled picture quality sure to capture any viewers’ attention. LG’s unique Ultra Stretch displays also redefine the creativity and flexibility possible for digital signage with their irregular aspect ratios and ability to act as stand-alone displays, be layered together, or be installed in a square pillar, making them a great fit for retail, wayfinding, transportation, museum and QSR applications. Quick Service Restaurant Solutions LG offers an array of technology solutions to meet the changing needs of the QSR sector, including ultra-narrow video walls, 4K UHD displays, Ultra Stretch displays, Transparent LED Film, and ultra-premium large format indoor and outdoor displays. When we feature a new root method it’s typically for a smartphone. If it’s not a smartphone then it could be a tablet, smartwatch, or an Android TV set-top box. However, more and more devices are starting to become “smart,” which essentially means they have some sort of extra software feature that previously wasn’t possible. This could be a light bulb that can be controlled by our smartphone or a TV that has applications you can install.
