New TV. 55" LED. Plugged into wired network. Settings look good for network.

Cannot update OS, install or update apps.

"Failed to ... Try again later"

What's up with this? Lots of posts about WebOS sucking. But, this is not working much at all.

    Hi @lsitongia

However, the flip side of lots of posts about webOS sucking there are those that are happy with it, but your mileage may vary from other forum users.

All I can suggest for your problem is if you know how to alter the DNS settings on your modem/router set them to Google's services: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Some ISP DNS servers are known to cause problems with initial setup of webOS so this may help you as well, if Google's DNS setting do not help there are many more to try:

    Public DNS Servers

Then why LG is not specifying it in his advertisements. Is not it a misguide to the customers?

    Hi @Rudish

I am not sure why you think they should, I cannot think of any manufacturer who advertises what features their product does not have in relation to another of their products.

It would be interesting to know if people actually do some research before buying a TV. If you know that you predominantly use Android based apps, why not buy an Android based TV?
Alternatively get a small Android box and connect to your TV. Problem solved.

    Hi @sbzz

Are you suggesting that people should take some responsibility for the actions?  Shame on you...

@Vikram Sud Yes you are right,  LG and LG Web OS is a good platform , but due to lack of apps and content , LG will surely lose out TV biz too. Instead replace Web OS with android.

    Hi @Bhavan Kamble

LG replace webOS with Android!  Never going to happen for exactly the same reason Samsung would never replace Tizen; money.  TV manufacturers make little money from the actual sale of hardware, but if they have complete control of their software ecosystem they are on to a winner.

A recent YouTube update on my LG smart 55 inch TV has disabled the slidebar on the YouTube app. I'm unable to forward or reverse a video, the video starts replaying from the beginning.  Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

    Hi @Samuel K

Unfortunately YouTube update their app whenever they feel like it and LG has no control whatsoever over their actions.  The YouTube app is an example of a hosted server programme and as such it can be upgraded by YouTube without any quality control oversight by LG:

You will find that the app that is installed on the television is itself very rarely updated, so I am afraid it is YouTube that needs to be told of your problems.

    Hello Community,

I am glad I found this board. Unfortunately the circumstances are not that great. I use my LG 55UF7709 (latest updates are installed) mostly for Youtube and streaming movies from a network storage. Second thing works great. But over the last couple months I see my YT app behaving worse and worse in the little things:

First it started with a different kind of scrolling. I believe after an update I just can't scroll vertically through the YT clips by only using the scroll wheel. This was alwasy working fine but know it is almost like I have to jump start the scroll with the arrow up/dow keys on the remote and than I can use the scroll wheel. Almost feels like it is blocked virtually even though the little red arrow changes its form which is telling me my scroll command is recognized.

Now since a couple of weeks (I think since the last YT app update) every time I use the red arrow to jump to a certain position in the stream the video will start from beginning - no exception.

Has anybody seen these issues, too? Isn't there a official support channel I can use? Looks like LG does not feel responsible for issues with the apps.

    Best and Thank you!

    Andreas

    Hi Team,

By when we can expect Voot Select app for LG WebOS.

As discussed with VootSelect Team, they have sent the app for review to LG. Kindly let us know by when LG is going to release Voot Select.

    Hi @Bhavan Kamble

Unfortunately this is a User-to-User forum, so we have no control over when an app submitted by any content provider to LG would be made available for the webOS platform.

I had recently purchased LG NANO80 and got the WebOS updated too. However, I am not able to find Zee5 App to download. All the other Apps viz. ALT Balaji, Netflix, PrimeVideo and many others are listed in the AppStore but Zee5 is neither available by default nor available for download. Is it removed?

Thanks for any help in advance.

    Regards, JR.

To the best of my knowledge Zee5 have not yet produced an app for the webOS platform; if you want the app then you will need to ask them directly to make one.  Posting something in their relevant Twitter feed is a good way of getting some attention.

They mentioned to use the browser in this high end beamer, that works but f@#€€#@ annoying. Far from app usability. Is there nothing LG can do about this? Disney plus should work on a webos 4.5 which my beamer is working on.

Unfortunately there is nothing LG can do about any content provider not providing an app for the platform or specific device.  Writing an app for the webOS platform is relatively straight forwards in comparison say iOS as it uses a lot of standard HTML5 coding.  However, it does require knowledge of how the app is going to integrate and communicate with the content provider's infrastructure, so it is 'easier' if the content provider to write the app.

It can also be a problem to write for webOS if the content provider's infrastructure relies on old technologies such as Adobe Flash and has proprietary video streaming software.  Before HOTSTAR was able to produce an app they had to change/upgrade their set up; which was firstly evidenced by their website becoming compatible with the webOS browser to allow it to stream content.

Another issue is that LG while producing TVs that have brilliant picture quality, in global sales terms they only have roughly half the sales market than Samsung.  Thus content providers are firstly going to produce apps for the platform that has the largest market share and/or run Android.

As above - could this please be considered.?

    Hi @ComfySofa

Unfortunately this is a User-to-User forum, so we have no control over when an app by any content provider would be made available for the webOS platform.  The best thing I can suggest is that if you have a Twitter account you ask Eurosport directly.
