Many thanks for the suggestion. Tried it but no change. I think the TV is one of those where it has to be a LG headphone set to make the connection.

    Cheers

    Brian.

    Hi @[email protected]

I think you model is from 2015 and running webOS 2.0 (unless there was an upgrade to v3) and support for Bluetooth was probably not that brilliant at the time.

There is a firmware upgrade listed from May 2020 you could look at: https://www.lg.com/uk/support/software-firmware?csSalesCode=42LF652V.AEK

    Hi ,

i have LG - UF680T  with up to date status of WebOS   and firmware (updated automatically) . Still I miss the most wanted apps in this LG - UF680T.  Is there anyway to get the following app installed with this LG - UF 680T Smart TV?

    1. Disney - Hotstar

    2. Zee5

    3. Sundirect

    4. Airtel Xstream

Can some one please suggest us on the way to install following apps with LG - UF680T?

    Hi @Sathish babu T

If your TV is still running webOS 2.0 as it was when it left the factory then I am afraid you are not going to get any of the apps above for your unit.  Most content providers will only support webOS 3.0 and above and some, such as HOTSTAR only support webOS 3.5 and above.

My suggestion is to purchase an external device such as a ROKU.

The LG content store do NOT show DSTV NOW app.

    The TV details:

    Model no           49UF770T - TA

    Manufactured 2015

    LG webOS          : 4.6

    Hi @DavidW

You list your TV as having webOS 4.6, however I am guessing that is probably something to do with the firmware number not the OS version.  The TV was released with webOS 2.0, and I am not aware of a unit being upgraded from v.2.0 to anything more than v.3.0.

Many content providers have either never or have dropped supported support for v2.0 and some such as HOTSTAR do not support v3.0 for their app.

  4. Hi @td47

By the sounds of your post you are assuming that it is LG paying for the apps to be on the platform, when it just as likely it is the other way around.  Manufacturers of Smart TV and smart devices (such as ROKU) make the bulk of their profits not from the sale of the unit but from licencing deals with content providers.  Both LG and content providers need to make a profit (BBC notwithstanding) so I imagine that the hold up with 2020 TVs has been a case of who flinches first, and then when they have everyone else will fall in line.

Have the same problem on Oled65cxpsa, I do not understand why these programs are not enabled or there should be an option to install them manually

    Hi @JonnyFlores

It is not a case of an app being 'enabled' for webOS, it would have to be written especially for the platform by Smarter and submitted to LG for inclusion in the store.  So if you want an app contacting the manufacturer is the way to go as this is a user-to-user forum and unclear that LG or content providers actually spend any time here.

Anyone else having issues with Prime Video? Keep getting an error message. No code just that something is wrong. Works fine via my PS4 and iPhone but not on LG tv app.

contacted Amazon and tried usually things but no joy. Been going on for two weeks

    Hi @Mark Johnston

Could you provide the forum with the model/firmware/webOS version of your TV and which country you are located in please?

Absolutely frustrated, I’m not really tech savvy, but my brand new tv git delivered earlier, my daughter said to leave it until she came round tomorrow BUT I was so excited,  soI unpacked it, no proper QUICKSTART instructions so disappointed from the off, managed to get it working BUT, been trying for 2 flipping hours to get Chanbel 4 toWotk keep getting a THIS IS EMBARRASSING message, tried all it suggests but still NOTHING please HELP SOMEONE PLEASE

    Hi @Eloise

If it is a problem with logging in to Channel4 then it is more than likely a problem with them and not the TV.  I have had similar issues with Channel4 & a couple of ROKU units I have set up in the last few days.

We need Disney+ Hotstar App in LG UH850T Television.  Not appearing in LG Content Store.  We set our location & Service as India.  Other LG smart TV has the Hotstar app in LG Content store.  What may be the reason.

    Hi @GSEK VENKI

If your TV is still running webOS 3.0 as is listed on the LG specifications page then unfortunately HOTSTAR's app  only support webOS 3.5 >.  Unfortunately there is nothing that LG can do about this, and whether this is a programming or hardware decision on HOTSTARs part would be something you would have to ask them.  As for Disney+ I cannot give you an answer I am afraid.

Like others, I had to buy a Roku to watch Spectrum TV on my brand new 65 inch Nano.  I use the Roku remote most of the time now.  Would love to just use the Magic remote and get the full benefit of my TV investment with the service I watch the most.  Adding the NFL Sunday Ticket app would be nice as well!!!

    Hi @Dan Baldauf

Unfortunately if the powers at the Spectrum TV do not decide to release an app for the webOS platform there is nothing that LG can do about it.

My suggestion is to pester the Spectrum TV via social media to see if you can elicit a response.

The sales person in showroom pushed for LG saying it has better sound and picture richness. But obviously didn't reveal big shortcomings of non-android smart TV in today's ecosystem. This is useless as you are not having freedom to install apps of your choice from playstore. I can't even get Sonyliv. Horrible OS. Now I am trapped for years after buying this TV. Don't buy LG or other non-android TV unless you can affford to throw it in weeks. When will LG grow up?

You trusted a sales person!  Sound more like you did not do your own research before purchasing.  Well that was two mistakes you made.

The reason that the large TV manufacturers (by market share and production of their own panels) have their own non-Android eco-system is because of money.  LG and Samsung are not going to swap to Android TV, there is just no financial advantage to it.

Buy yourself the new Google Chromecast with Google TV, a small outlay to satisfy you Android itch.

Many customers waiting for Mx player will come in LG web os platform but no any information why ? LG web os is better but why is getting late

    Hi @Binod Kumar

If you want MX Player for webOS you will need to get the maker (not LG they do not write the apps for the platform) to produce it.  Sorry I obviously did not make this clear enough in my previous post.

49lh600t lg tv not aap Disney hotstar plz provide this aap

    Hi @ALL ROUNDER

I believe that HOTSTAR is only supporting webOS 3.5 and up, this is their decision and unfortunately there is nothing LG can do about this.  Your TV is running, according to the product page, version 3.0.

    Hi everyone,

I'm interested in the OLED BX. I would like to know if it is compatible with a 5TB HDD (to be connected and fed through one of the TV USB port).

LG manuals recommend to connect up to 2TB storage HDDs but don't really state that higher capacity devices are not expected to work.

Then, I'm not sure how are things with DTS support. It seems that DTS decoding is no longer supported on the 2020 tv sets. But LG web page (updated 08/22/2020) titled "Support Video Playback File Type & Codec" still claims that "TV supports DTS audio codec when USB/HDMI video file playback offers it".

Can any of you shed some light on these ones?

    Thank you so much.

    Hi @frank_1985

Currently, I have a Western Digital 4TB drive connected to my 2016 model year LG, cannot say whether a 5TB is going to work though.

I want to add another post to this thread, but since I posted last, it appears that my new "answer" is being appended to the one I last wrote, which was from about four hours ago.

Anyway, the TV suddenly started working right. I don't know why. I turned it on and got an alert that the system had been updated (I had previously enabled auto-update). Now apps are also installing. So, all is now as I expected it to be.

    Hi @lsitongia

Glad things are working for you now, annoying that you cannot pinpoint exactly what the issue was though.
