I know this was mentioned before. I'd like to support this.
WebOS is such a great and versatile system; a real media centre. BUT: I have a number of video files that it simply doesn't play. VLC, e.g. does, but is not available.
To me it is such a pity that I have to have a system in parallel (actually a PC!) to play those files, with VLC, and then switch to HDMI to watch the clips on my TV. This doesn't look very much like 2026, as far as I am concerned.
To give an example, in which nothing is spectacular, and yet it doesn't play:
Format : AVI Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave Format settings : BitmapInfoHeader / WaveFormatEx File size : 360 MiB Duration : 51 min 6 s Overall bit rate : 986 kb/s Frame rate : 23.976 FPS Writing application : VirtualDubMod 1.5.4.1 (build 2178/release) Writing library : VirtualDub build 24259/release Video ID : 0 Format : MPEG-4 Visual Format profile : Advanced Simple@L5 Format settings : BVOP1 Format settings, BVOP : 1 Format settings, QPel : No Format settings, GMC : No warppoints Format settings, Matrix : Default (H.263) Muxing mode : Packed bitstream Codec ID : XVID Codec ID/Hint : XviD Duration : 51 min 6 s Bit rate : 752 kb/s Width : 512 pixels Height : 384 pixels Display aspect ratio : 4:3 Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Compression mode : Lossy Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.160 Stream size : 275 MiB (76%) Writing library : XviD 1.1.0 (2005-11-22) Audio ID : 1 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Commercial name : Dolby Digital Codec ID : 2000 Duration : 51 min 6 s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 224 kb/s Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel layout : L R Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF) Compression mode : Lossy Delay relative to video : 23 ms Stream size : 81.9 MiB (23%) Alignment : Split across interleaves Interleave, duration : 42 ms (1.00 video frame) Interleave, preload duration : 500 ms Service kind : Complete Main Dialog Normalization : -27 dB compr : 0.53 dB dynrng : 0.53 dB dialnorm_Average : -27 dB dialnorm_Minimum : -27 dB dialnorm_Maximum : -27 dB Please, add-on to media player whatever is necessary to play such files!
Better yet: add something like VLC or at least Dragon. Make it available; even if the warranty was void, I'd prefer to load such an application.
Thanks for pondering!

If I play an MKV video from a USB drive that contains multiple subtitle tracks with correct language tags, will webOS automatically select the appropriate subtitles, for example based on the TV interface language or the country where the TV is being used? Or it will just select first one/makred as fefault?

Our LG TV does not show files properly when a new file is added in a directory.
We have a Synology diskstation ethernet drive with DLNA and if we download a new file (in the dedicated download folder) or we copy a file from a PC to a folder, the file is not seen in the LG TV.
Sometimes it's there in few minutes, sometimes it's not visible for days! turn on&off is not working.
If we want to watch a video we need to load it on a USB stick, which is definitely not nice in 2019.
Looking at synology forums the DLNA file list should be automatically updated when a new file is added, is there any way to force refresh from LG app?
Thanks

Hey everyone,
I'm new here, so first of all, hello I'm delos.
I own two LG OLED55G19 TVs, one at home and one elsewhere. At home, I have a QNAP NAS (TS451) with DLNA functionality. Accessing it at home works great.
The "Home" and "External" networks are connected via VPN. Thus, both networks have different network addresses.
Now I want to access the home network from the external network with the LG via VPN in order to integrate the DLNA server. The LG doesn't "see" the external server because it's not in the same network. However, I wonder why you can't just enter the IP address of the server in the LG.
Does anyone have a solution?
Many greetings
delos

Since the last webos update to 3.40.87, I find I have to completely power cycle the TV (a G1 65" OLED) every week or so to get the DLNA client back to functioning properly. I have a media server running Serviio on a Raspberry Pi, and I periodically get one of the following two problems, both of which are fixed by completely power-cycling the TV.
When I'm using the DLNA client to select videos from the server, I get no response from trying to select a video or series using the remote. The remote continues to work fine when used with other apps (eg Netflix, Stan etc) on the TV. When the DLNA client is playing a video from the server, the audio is delayed by a couple of seconds from the video. At the time that the TV is showing either of these problems, I can access the media server using either BubbleUPnP on my phone or VLC on my PC, and neither of them have any problem either selecting videos or playing them back with the audio synced with the video, so the problem is clearly with the TV, and power-cycling the TV gets rid of whichever problem is manifesting itself.

Question

Hello, I have a LG OLED C9 and a Synology Diskstation (Wifi). The LG shows in DLNA only very old files. I can't see new addes files/folders or I see deleted files. There is no "Refresh"-Button. Currently the DLNA for LG OLED C9 is unfortunately useless.
I've seen in my research that that's been a problem for LG TVs for years. How can that be? Is there any workaround or trick to update DLNA?
