Hi there,.

It is now clear that any  OS, except android and apple,  suffers from low number of apps.

It is a shame to struggle with a 'named smart tv' to run a Web site or find a commonly used app!

Ok! We are stuck with this rubbish OS (bad OS due to the poor App stoee) , why LG doesn't develop an adapter to run android TV apps on the TV? Maybe after testing them, you can allow certain famous apps. Moreover, why don't they provide an easy porting tool for the developer?

Anyway, if they don't do this, I would advise any one to buy an android TV and ignore the useless OSs such as Tiazen or Webos.

Regards,

This is a TV and not a PC. It's "smart" in the sense that it can do other simple stuff aside just live TV or pre-recorded video. You can watch YouTube, download available apps etc ..but trying and asking to turn a tv into a full blown emulator? That's a mighty stretch at this stage.

If you want android apps natively on your TV, it would make more sense to buy a TV based on Android. Simples.

Hi Sbzz,

That is fine, and based on this, LG shall expect less sales as people will move to Android. Another Nokia story! Fair enough.

I will do my best to advise anyone NOT to buy a TV with Webos, to avoid spelling his money down the drain.

Yes, fair enough. They must pay for wasting my money on a piece of retro!
You could return your TV if not happy with it or sell it and buy an Android based TV.

What issues are you having with the LGTV connecting to your Apple TV?
You know it's just a TV that displays what ever signal you feed it right?

Posted

I'm aware that it's a TC that displays whatever signal I feed it. That's how I'm using it. No free to air. No real app use.

The only "issue" I'm having currently is that Dolby Atmos passthrough doesn't work with the Disney Channel app for an LG sound bar.

By "seamless" what I mean is that the TV gets out of the way of the signal I'm feeding it. I'd like to use it like a dumb monitor for the Apple TV/DVD Player/Whatever unless I want some smartness. So get rid of the "no input" message that comes up while the Apple TV is connecting to the TV, let me hide the Web OS logo,  just recognise that I'm using it for input only and don't want any other intrusions, until I ask for them. In one word: Elegance.

Does that make sense?

I know this was mentioned before. I'd like to support this.
WebOS is such a great and versatile system; a real media centre. BUT: I have a number of video files that it simply doesn't play. VLC, e.g. does, but is not available.
To me it is such a pity that I have to have a system in parallel (actually a PC!) to play those files, with VLC, and then switch to HDMI to watch the clips on my TV. This doesn't look very much like 2026, as far as I am concerned.
To give an example, in which nothing is spectacular, and yet it doesn't play:

Better yet: add something like VLC or at least Dragon. Make it available; even if the warranty was void, I'd prefer to load such an application.
      Thanks for pondering!

I bought LG smart tv. for some reason region selected was Africa and could only choose from african countries and had very little available apps in content store. I live in Georgia, so figured that  changing region to EU would help so changed it to 3122 and selected service country UK because Georgia was not in the list. after that every app says that it is not available in current country. I have  default region code saved so I guess could go back but wondering if any one can help me to get it working in EU. or if anyone have region code in which Georgia is available it will be helpful as well.

Title says it all.  Install a new 50 inch LG tv.  For every app and App Store it displays that message.  I have a great network and the TV is approx 30 feet from the wifi router.  It will play TV (not sure if that is coming over the air) and the phone app sees and can control the TV but not one app will work?
Any ideas or just return it?
      Thanks

Already tried turning the TV off and on and unplugging for 10 minutes.
There is no APPS tile in the horizontal tile row, so I can't load a third-party app like MLB.TV.
No luck with the WebOs tile, or the LG Content Store.
When I try the LG Content Store, and click on Apps inside that, I am only offered pre-loaded apps - 600 or so, but no MLB.TV.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
