  1. Well, the rumor mill has begun again, with stories flying all over the internet about HTC looking into buying an OS for themselves. Just a little over a week ago the rumor was Samsung, until that was slammed down by their CEO as "never". HTC chairwoman Cher Wang made some comments that they are entertaining the idea of purchaisng their own. The likely os should be webOS, but could it really be? A few things about this...

    • Does HP want to sell rather than license? They made a mention of licensing it to expand it's reach.
    • Is webOS a failing OS from a corporate view, having started in Palm and gone to HP, with little success against the likes of iOS and Android?
    • Has the recent Touchpad Firesale added enough new users to build a more desireable ecosystem?
    • Can HTC be successful with webOS and adding maybe HTC Sense as a layer or even rebranding webOS?
    • Can HTC benefit from all those Palm patents in it's fights againts Apple?
    • How big of a risk would it be for HTC?
    • If HTC does buy it, should they rebrand it?

All these bullet points are just a few of the questions you see started by users out there. The diehard webOS users like myself (opening day palm pre user) are just waiting for some light at the end of the tunnel, and a company like HTC with successful hardware, running webOS, Beats audio, and a layer of some Sense...just makes sense. Imagine an EVO sporting webOS, we never had a slab phone...how would that sell? Yes, that would be interesting. We can only hope! (I'm not getting my hopes up just yet)

  2. I think HP will license to more than one company including its spin off business whatever that will be

They better decide soon or at least announce some direction. There's allot of competition out there and it's just going to get worse for webos the later it gets rolling. My concern is that we don't see it on mobile phones but just on tablets, printers, etc.

  3. just add an button that allows for all threads to be marked as already read so i can tell when convo's are going on and where lol , yes i have tapatalk as well

Once you click into any forum, there is a link to "Mark this forum as read" by the start a new topic button. screenshot below:

If you are using our mobile version, there is menu button on the top right, that has a button to do the same. I'm not 100% sure about Tapatalk. :D

  4. dont forget that samsung licenses winmo7 and android , so its still on the table that they could license webOS to get more product out the door .

Really? Samsung CEO said never to purchasing, right? I would hope licensing is still on the table. Do you feel that there will be more than one licensee?

  6. I'm currently using a Verizon Pixi Plus, that I purchased on Amazaon. i went form a Pre on Sprint to this Pixi on Verizon. I was worried about the form factor, but I have to say that I am quite used to it and like it. i wish it had more power though and webOS 2. If it had a 1 GHZ processor, it would be sweet. I am running Govnah and have overclocked with the max allowable. I also have touchstone chargers in my house and car which I used with my pre and now with my Pixi Plus.

  7. I was really holding out for this phone on Verizon!

Up until June this year, I was a 15 year customer of Sprint. Used to have Nextel phones most of those years, but went to a Palm Pre on opening day in June 2009, from Radio Shack. That's when I grew into webOS. Since Sprint clearly was not going to get anymore webOS phones, I followed the blogs and eagerly awaited news on the pre 3 to hit Verizon. All signs were that it would.

Then Verizon announced it was moving away from their unlimited data at $29.99! I fealt the sense of urgency to get on Verizon to be grandfathered in. My contract with Sprint was over. So I went into a phone plan without a contract after I bought a Verizon Pixi Plus off of Amazon for $45. Now I'm on Verizon with this phone, no contract....waiting. Now no HP pre 3 at all! This just sucks all together...what to do now.

I ordered a Verizon pre 2 during the firesale, but that may now be cancelled hp tells me, due to their overselling.
