  5. I noticed since the last update of WebOS, it defaults to a screen with apps along the bottom rather than HDMI1 as before on startup. Even after going into the input settings and selecting HDMI1, it stills defaults to the other screen on startup. When selecting HDMI1 on the inputs screen, it has a red dot in the corner, which I would assumes means that's the selected default. But again, this seems to be ignored this on startup. Thanks.

  6. I called Amazon CS and they said it is a known problem and has to do with a bug in the latest release of the app. "They are working on it". I don't now why they don't re-release the old version until they get their act together

  7. Hi. What can I do to get my TV to use the full broadband speed that I've got available. My tv is a 55EC930V and is using a wired connection to my router. My broadband is currently running at 125Mbps. When I use any other devices such as a laptop, mobile phone, etc the speed using fast.com returns anything between 120 to 130 MBps. But, when I use the web browser on the TV, it always maxes out at 33Mbps. This value is reported by fast.com. If I use the speed test in the Netflix app, this returns approx 29Mbps. I never get anything higher, so what's limiting it? The same problem occurs for YouTube and that's the only other App that I've got installed. If the network board in the TV is supposed to be 10-100Mbps, why don't I get 100 Mbps? I know I won't get 125Mbps because LG never puts 1Gbps in any of it's TVs.

  9. I'd like a fast accessible shortcut to turn off the screen, eg. when pressing settings, a button on the screen. Or even better, the possibility to configure the speaker off button on the remote to turn off the screen instead. It should work independently of the energy saving feature, so that energy saving is not set to off when the screen is turned on again. The existing procedure to turn off screen is to complex press settings, press all settings, press energy saving, press off..... and when the screen is turned on again, the energy saving is set to off, and not to the previous value (eg. auto). 10. If you use the voice function on the remote and say "screen off" it will also turn off the screen, this seems to be the most efficient way of doing it I've found so far. There needs to be a shortcut button on the remote!

  11. I'm afraid it looks like LG have dropped support for Freeview Play this year which means catchup apps like ITVx, 4OD or Channel 5 arent available. This isnt made clear on product pages and not covered well in reviews given how important it is. They've also dropped DTS support this year too. Other brands have adopted Freely to provide catchup and live TV into the future but not LG. Something similar happened to 2020 CX models and it was many months before some of those apps were made available then. Assuming this also affects C5 and B5 this will become more and more talked about until we're able to get LG to sort it out.

  12. Hello, after the last update of WebOS (6.5.0.-24) there is different behavior of returning back to previous input on my TV. When I was watching a Live TV and opened an app like Youtube, after closing it (holding the return button) it used to return to Live TV. The same with HDMI input, when I was playing on Playstation and the opened an app, after closing it it returned back to PS. Now after the update, it always go to the Home Screen when the app is closed. I only found in setting to return to last input when turning the TV on instead of Home Screen, but didn't find the same for the behavior after closing an app. Is there a way to fix it? Thanks

  14. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say there are more HP TouchPads left in the world than there are their matching original barrel chargers. This means if you have a TouchPad today, you’re probably using a TouchStone, a computer, or any other random USB A charging brick to (very slowly) charge your 13 year old device. And it means you’ve seen the error message in the image above every time you’ve plugged it into anything other than the original barrel charger or a computer. Fun fact, you can trick the TouchPad into charging normally and not feeding you the message by creating your own custom micro USB or USB C cable if you’ve modified your TouchPad. Stuff You’ll Need Assuming you have a micro USB (ie. non USB C modified TouchPad) you’ll need: 1. A 4-wire micro USB to USB A cable 2. 250k and 300k 1/4 watt resistors (1 each per cable) 3. Soldering iron and solder 4. Heat shrink or electrical tape If you’re making a USB C cable but only want to use it with a USB A charger then you’ll need: 1. A 4 wire USB C to USB A cable 2. Items 2-4 above If you’re making a true USB C to USB C cable that you plan to use with a USB C 3.1 charger you’ll need: 1. A 4-wire USB C cable 2. A USB C board with 5.1k resistor and the housing for it 3. Any 2-wire cable or a 4-wire cable that you’ll cut the data wires out of (green and white typically) and that you’ll cut the ends from 4. Items 2-4 from the first section above Prepare the Wires Regardless of which cable you’re making, the end that goes to the TouchPad will need all 4 wires and the resistors. So grab the 4-wire cable of your choice and strip the ends, and I recommend pre-tinning them with some solder. Build the TouchPad Side of the Cable See the image below for how to arrange the resistors. If you’re making a USB A cable, go ahead and cut into two pieces, set aside the USB A side, and grab the micro or USB C for this part.. It doesn’t matter how far away from either end you go, it’s your choice. Strip the wires back so you have enough bare wire to work with. 1. Solder the ground (black) wire to one side of the 300k resistor. 2. Solder data- (green), data+ (white), the other side of the 300k resistor and one side of the 250k resistor together. 3. Then solder the other end of the 250k resistor to the red (power) wire. Build the Charger Side of the Cable If you’re making a USB A cable, then all you have left to do is reconnect power (red) and ground (black) to their corresponding colors on the TouchPad side of the cable, trim off the data lines from the USB A side, clean it all up with some heat shrink or electrical tape and you’re done! If you’re making a USB C to USB C cable grab the USB C board I linked above and your 2-wire cable (or 4-wire that you’ve trimmed the data lines from). You’ll also have to cut the end off to make room for the new connector. 1. Pre-tin the board on the two outside pads marked as VCC and Gnd in the image below. 2. Solder on the red (power) wire to VCC and then black (ground) to Gnd. If you bought the housing and boards together, don’t forget to the housing on the wire before you start soldering. You also may need some super glue to keep the plastic housing from coming apart. 3. Back at the TouchPad side of the wire, take the other end of your 2-wire cable and attach red and black to their corresponding ends, clean it up with some heat shrink or electrical tape and you’re done! Final Thoughts You should now be able to use any charger you want to and the TouchPad will believe you’re plugged into a normal battery charger and will allow the normal charge rate flow through. Note, you’ve effectively removed the ability to use this cable for Data since the data lines are no longer connected. Also, for those who modded the TouchPad with USB C, the port already has 5.1k resistance but cannot communicate that to a USB C 3.1 charger with the added resistance on the data lines. This is why the TouchPad end of the USB C cable must be a “dumb” 4-wire USB C cable and the charger end needs the 5.1k resistance to tell the charger on that end to send power. This also means that you must remember which end is which, but don’t worry. Picking the wrong direction won’t hurt anything as the USB C charger won’t allow power since the wire doesn’t tell it to. I marked the TouchPad side of the USB C cable with a dab of orange paint pen. Finally, I hope you found this helpful or at the very least entertaining! I had fun exploring the different ways of making this work and live streamed it on Twitch so feel free to give it a watch. #webos4ever The post Guide: Create an “Original Barrel” Charging Wire for your HP TouchPad first appeared on pivotCE. 15. Hello pingber, I am a LG user like you. You have a C1 and I have a C3. Netherless, the home screen should look like the attached picture of my home screen (sorry it is in french). The last row contains input and some documentations in my case. If this is also your case, then for this last (bottom) row you cannot change it. Witht the lastest WebOS version, you cannot remove the different rows. Unfortunately, WebOS is quite rigide : and you cannot really customize and simplify the home screen. Phil. IMG_4066.HEIC

  22. i can't confirm. some tv are the same but have little changes like the wifi module etc. if you use that code, you can enable pvr probably but there are a lot of chance that he will disable wifi so please, read the original code. fortunately yout tv is like mine (mine have same model number) and is fully supported by my calculator. open Github and search for "ToolOPT6" and you will calculate by yourself In my experience you can enable "Support ATV DVR", "DVR Ready" and set "Sound Mode" to Dolby Atmos without any issue. N.B. The code "541838600" is not for UP75 Series but it still a vadid code. If you put on the tv, you will disable "Digital eye", lost WiFi and Bluetooth functionality and disconnect all smart remote. Please don't do that

  23. The original post seemed to branch out in several different directions, so I'd like to resubmit: I have an LG 75Nanoxxxx model TV and a Firestick 4K and a Denon DHTS216 soundbar. My HDMI ARC port is damaged and unusable so have chosen to go the bluetooth route with the soundbar. I have no issue pairing the soundbar via bluetooth and controlling the on/off functionality, volume control etc. with my Firestick remote. However, whenever I power on, although the system re-pairs automatically, I am stuck with the WebOS pop-up asking me if I want to 'use the soundbar'. I have little interest in using the bulky 'Magic Remote', with its lousy cursor controls. So back to the OP.....is there any way automatically have 'yes' selected so as not to get the 'do you want to use...' popup, or at least be able to make a WebOS choice using my Firestick remote? Thanks in advance!

  30. You may not need anything extra. When I press the Input button on the remote for my LG 50UK6090PUA - in addition to the expected HDMI1, HDMI2, etc. there is also my server listed. I pick that and navigate to the video I want. There are plenty of reasons that my case may be different from yours. I am using a WD MyCloud that is running its stock DLNA server and my files are mkv files instead of mp4. Still, it is worth a try and costs nothing in dollars or time.

  31. Greetings Touchpad users! The webOS Nation Forums went down this month -- unceremoniously redirected to some crappy review site, despite the community's pleas to let us save or preserve it in some fashion. As a result, we're looking here (and other places) for some kind of community forum! For those who visit here, I wanted to let you know that despite all recent set-backs, the legacy webOS community is alive and well, still using our Touchpads, Pres, Pixis and Veers in 2023! Resources to get online, apps to try out, and lots of other things to do can be found at webosarchive.org We've also got a Discord server going -- it even connects to webOS Devices, through a modern app called SimpleChat. Have gone thru various install, uninstalls, factory reset, reset internet, check software update, all of the supposed fixes that LG recommends you go thru. Just in Facebook messenger with supposed tech support for LG. It's like they all read off of the same flip chart. Very frustrating.

  34. Wow. There's a lot here. Let me try and help you - but remember I'm just an LG customer like you - I work in the tech industry, but I'm not LG or ITV so I can only tell you what I know as a customer. The info I have comes from the @ITVxHelp Twitter feed. They reply very quickly if you wanted to try talking to them, but I warn you, they don't know a lot either! First - the good news - ITVx has started to roll out to LG TVs. I got my update this morning. The bad news is that it isn't working properly! I've reported it to them and we'll see what happens. In terms of the wider point - "Smart" simply means it has an internet connection and can run apps. What apps are available has nothing to do with LG - they offer their platform (WebOS) to developers, but what actually gets offered on this, or any TV is entirely up to them. Browse through this forum and you'll find lots of "where is this" and "why is this" posts. The bottom line is that ITVx is available to devices that support it - that doesn't mean they have to make it available to every TV and every device, and it doesn't mean that they have to get it to all platforms on time - there are a lot of other devices that either don't have ITVx yet, won't ever get it, or have it and it''s not working properly - it has been an undeniably shoddy roll out. The reality is that no TV or smart device has every app - and there's nothing you can do about that. Some are better than others and unfortunately, many developers don't offer LG apps, or make them last of all. LG is far from the best - but it's also not the worse - a lot of cheaper TVs don't have Disney+, for example, and that's been out for two years. Humax doesn't offer Netflix on its flagship set top box. That's just how it is, and there's no one TV or device that will get everything. As more and more streaming services come online this is only going to get worse. The thing about VPNs, specifically, is that they offer you a chance to watch stuff that shouldn't be officially available to you. Broadcasters and streaming services pay huge amounts of money for the rights to programmes, country by country, and therefore watching them from another country is a legal grey area. It would be lovely if LG offered VPN support, but VPNs are not a right either - in fact they're actually banned in many countries altogether. (For the record, I use a second router with a VPN built in and point my devices at that). The key thing to remember is that you don't have the right to anything - it's only false advertising if they specifically say "we offer this specific service or feature, on this model of TV" and then don't. The truth is that Smart TVs will never be as flexible as standalone devices like streaming sticks and computers. There are better options than LG for the sort of thing you want to do - especially as LG generally stop updating firmware after a couple of years - but just because something exists, it doesn't mean you'll get it and that's true of all devices, not just LG - and it's only going to get worse. I find it bonkers that we can't get Paramount+ on our TVs yet - but that's up to Paramount, not LG. I'm sorry if you feel you're stuck with a TV that doesn't meet your needs - look at other posts, you're very much not alone, it's the reason most people are here - but we live in an age where the TV landscape is changing all the time. Really, for the flexibility you want, you'd be better off with a separate device (FYI not a Roku - they don't support VPNs either!). I know that's not what you want to hear, but that's where we are and I don't think, from what you say, you'd be entirely happy with a Samsung, Sony or HiSense TV either - they all have their drawbacks and missing services. I hope I've been of some help explaining. I regret buying LG too, but I can''t afford to rush out and buy another model either so I'm trying to make the best of it. On the plus side, at least it looks like the wait for ITVx is nearly over!

  36. If you want to play Spotify Music on your LG webOS smartwatch, you need the help of a professional Spotify Music Downloader. It downloads and converts Spotify Music to a common audio format so that Spotify Music can be played offline on a variety of devices, including the LG webOS smartwatch. This way, you can enjoy Spotify Music directly on your LG webOS smartwatch even if you don't have an internet connection or the Spotify app.

  38. I have in my LG GX OLED TV four hemi ports, the first is connected to Apple TV and the second to Sony HT A9 by earc. The third is connected to the Playstation 5 and the fourth is connected to Amazon Firestick. You can’t imagine my daily suffering, sometimes the TV turns off and the rest is works, I had to use four remote control and I worked hard to fix it, then it took a while until it got back. I can't continue with LG if this bugs is not fixed.

  39. That's pretty annoying! Every time I switch TV on, I should go to menu and connect my bluetooth speakers or headphones. For example, I switch TV on when my wife sleeps and TV starts to scream because this time it is not connected to my bluetooth phones , it uses internal speakers. And it is very easy to implement such simple option, I do not understand why it it not yet implemented..

  40. Well, another vote up for @Rich Dowling. I did have to unplug the speaker one more time to get it to work. One question I had was "Turn HDMI control off at the TV and soundbar" Not sure what this means. I followed the other steps. like others, I wished I knew what caused the problem and why this worked. I have C9 and SK8Y which worked perfectly for a year until the sound out just stopped one day. As did the ability to turn the soundboard on with the TV. I have not re-connect any other HDMI port but for the soundbar. I'll report back

  41. It’s a huge thank you from me too, as I was having the same problem and your procedure fixed it. It would be nice to know why it re-enables it but I’ll settle for the fact it works!

  44. Hi, I have the exact same issue with my LG CX. Please LG release an update that allows the user to select which audio output to use by default when the bluetooth audio device is turned off!

  45. I agree. Not only is this a popular item to advertise these days by LG, it's also a safety issue. This shouldn't be difficult to add a timer for on/off of eye comfort mode. Ideally WebOS gets this setting plus an additional Picture Mode setting for something like "bedtime" that turns on eye comfort mode and also further reduces the max brightness setting. That way when my wife is watching tv and I'm trying to go to sleep, it's not so annoying.

  46. I have same firmware, but if you read the faq in the web page, they say will only play on certain browsers, firefox, internet explorer etc. or could be in flash player format which webos wont play.

  47. Same request. Is there some way we users could get a checkbox during the Bluetooth pairing process that says "Connect automatically"? That way, the default could still be "Ask to connect", but users could have the option to avoid picking up the remote to connect a newly powered on Bluetooth device. I do like that the speakers come on when the Bluetooth device is powered off, but maybe someone would like to set Bluetooth as the default output?

  48. Agreed, i alredy posted my disapoitment, I was fulled by the tv presentation about LGwebOS, it is actualy worse than any OS i have ever seen on TV as far the performance - the idea it selff is OK. switching chanels takes 3-5 sec opening seings somtimes takes up to 10 sec. you can only chose external or tv speakers not simuntaniasly and many more other things. I would gladly install google TV if there will be posibility or - even previuse LG smart tv OS
