Recording TV Issue

Question

Posted

I've recently bought a

, It has a external powered SSD disk.

Sometimes we'll notice it start to record a scheduled program, then 1 minute later stop recording.  Being as LG tried to avoid paying the license for ITV/CH4/CH5 players here in the UK.

Any idea why?

I've only just bought this TV to replace a 2 year old Philips TV which had no end of hassles, and TBF Smart TV's really are as thick as Pig S....  My old windows 7 media centre PC with TV tuner was so much more reliable and easier to use.

@Spencer Cook Has recording ever worked properly on the new TV, with that SSD? What was it used for before?  Did you let the new TV format it to ITS requirements?

This disk worked perfectly fine in previous TV.  It also works fine with this TV, it has been formatted in this tv, and will record fine.

However occasionally the TV will start to record then a minute later stop.

I can then go to the program and start to record and it records the rest of the program fine.  As I say, it's just occasionally it stops recording.

@Spencer Cook It is possible that it is either a minor firmware bug, OR an intermittent SSD disk error, that causes the recording to stop. To eliminate that, take the SSD off the TV, connect it to your laptop or PC, then run the checkdsk command on it. That will be in the "cmd" option (it calls the black window like the old DOS command window.

See how to here;

If no joy, you might need to purchase "Spinrite" that is a very good disk analyser and fixer, that might force it to do a proper "wear levelling" on any off spec memory areas on the SSD. It is around $USD 70, but you get a lifetime licence and support. See here:

      hi, Friends,

i have finally fixed the HDMI ARC issue.
Apparently some people also had the same issue and couldnt figure out whats wrong.
After reading through AVSForums, I finally understood that LG had a bug in HDMI operation as well..

The problem happens when your TV is already sending sound through HDMI ARC to a AVR and you try to connect additional sources like dth or blueray player to additional HDMI ports of TV and AVR. Once you add additional sources, you might try to use LG's device connector setting to control the device and this is where HDMI ARC stops working.

      Solution:
disconnect all hdmi ports of TV and AVR.
      Full reset TV and AVR.
Only Connect HDMI ARC port of TV with HDMI ARC OUT of AVR. Enable ARC feature on both TV and AVR. Open LG TV internal app,
and check if sound is coming properly to AVR.
Now you Connect All additional sources to other HDMI ports of TV and nothing should be connected to AVR.
You may use LG device connector setting to configure the magic remote to control them.

      MY current setup of TV:
      HDMI 1: Airtel DTH.
HDMI 2: ARC connected to Denon AVR 1500H.
HDMI 3: ACT Television(Using this to play hotstar premium content as LG inbuilt APP is not playing it)

      Good news:
LG magic remote can control all 3 devices seamlessly and thats a great ease for customers.
I shall appreciate LG for this.

Hallo, I bought a 55un74006LB smart tv in Italy. It seems not to have usb recording capabilities, according to the information on the italian website, but the UK site declare it has. I think it's the same product with the same functions, so how can I turn the live tv and usb recording on? I think I found the options in the service menu but I cannot change the values. Any suggestion?

Trying to programme my magic remote to control an Amlogic OTT, however keep getting a ‘temporary issue occurred’ when I try. I’ve been trying for over a week now, so this temporary issue isn’t so temporary!

New LG 55" C4,  Magic Remote STB setup does not provide for Charter/Spectrum Arius STB model DCX3220? This is a current model STB and previous LG models did provide MR setup for this model.
