Pausing live recording

just bought a LG OLED AI B5 4K Smart TV 2025 -  but cannot see how to pause live TV - have correct USB  memory  plugged in and it records programmes fine but when we try live recording  .. Help!     it says the memory is incompatible

I think you need a more capable USB device. I did an AI search and came up with the following....

The issue is that **pausing live TV (Time Shift) requires a USB Hard Disk Drive (HDD), not a USB flash stick**, even if the stick allows for scheduled recording.

To resolve this, you must use a **USB HDD with at least 80 GB of total storage** (and at least 2.3 GB available for Live Playback). USB flash drives lack the sustained write speed and buffer management required for the real-time time-shifting function, which is why the TV rejects the memory stick for pausing.

### Steps to Enable Live Pause:
1.  **Replace the USB Stick**: Disconnect your current USB flash drive and connect a compatible **USB HDD** (80 GB or larger).
2.  **Enable Live Playback**: With the HDD connected and live TV tuned in, press the **OK/Scroll Wheel** button on your Magic Remote.
3.  **Select Option**: Choose **Live Playback** from the on-screen menu. This will allow you to pause, rewind, and fast-forward live broadcasts.

If you only have a USB stick, you can still **record** programs via the Guide (EPG) menu, but you cannot pause live television without the specified hard drive.

      i always have to turn off the TV using the power switch (put on standby won't do) to view ''live tv'' channels again after watching LG Channels................any way to do that without powering off the tv completely ? 😟

      Live sports transmissions are terrible

      OLED65G5WUA - brand new.  Direct connection to Router with 350M up and down speeds.  Primary apps are YouTubeTV and PrimeVideo.  Internet line is dedicated and has low latency.
      As an owner of multiple previous LG OLED TV products, I expected better results from the latest generation.
      It seems that any live picture feed of sporting events the picture is very poor.  Tried various picture and advanced options, but ending up having to reset options to factory to watch most other tv offerings.  
      If set on Standard, some faces of fans behind players are not even recognizable.  For golf, the trees have foliage that don't even look like branches.  Most of the players have a glow.  In some live offerings, the crowd members look like cotton ball splotches.
      For 4K, and Prime Movies, pretty good.  New channels, have jagged letters, and poor color representation.
      I was unable to return TV because I did not have the original packaging (which I threw out before testing TV next day).  LG sent out technician from Express who proceeded to imply that my eyes were deceiving me, lighting was too much, too close, too far, etc. etc.  Never saw somebody go out of their way to tell me I am crazy.
      LG will not send out a second technician, as the tech team are convinced (despite real pictures to the contrary) that the TV is fine, and I have no recourse, except to call - at my expense - other certified LG technicians.  They are right and I am wrong.
      What is worse, is if you go in a store, you see the beautiful 4K picture - which is not a live streaming event.   My other OLED tv's do not have this issue.
      I would like to know if there are others with this type of experience.  My only other options are small claims court (the pictures alone would win the case) - and good luck collecting, or eat the large sum of money I paid, and get myself a Sony.
      I have attached one picture - if you will look at the people on the left side or in the middle, their faces are not even recognizable.  This is at 1080P live feed

      Enabling usb recording and live tv

      Hallo, I bought a 55un74006LB smart tv in Italy. It seems not to have usb recording capabilities, according to the information on the italian website, but the UK site declare it has. I think it's the same product with the same functions, so how can I turn the live tv and usb recording on? I think I found the options in the service menu but I cannot change the values. Any suggestion?

      ABC iView watching live news stops and starts with spinning circle

      I’ve just got home after being away 2 years, and got the tv out of storage. When we try and watch the news live in the. Morning every few minutes the video and sound stop and then after a few seconds the circle appears and starts spinning. Then the program starts again and it’s fine for a little while, and then it stops again.
      I have checked for updates of the TV OS and iView (2021 is the latest)
      If I use iView on my iOS device and then airplay it to the tv it works fine with no problems. If I watch any program on iview that would have been prerecorded, even if I’m watching it “live” it’s fine.
      I see a few people were having a problem with all iView programs back in 2022, but they resolved. 
       
      can anybody suggest any solutions?

      LG TV pause live TV and record programmes using SSD drive for under £20

      Hi all, last week I got my new LG 65" C4 Oled delivered.
      I investigated using first a 32Gb memory stick for recording live programmes and pause live TV facility.
      I was able to record programmes but the Live TV would not work 🥲
      The LG usb is the slower 2.0 spec but I read that most low current SSD drives should still work fine with 2.0
      Today I received a 240Gb drive with Sata to usb 3.0 cable (3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0).
      I can confirm that everyting works fine and for just £17.40 I now have pause live TV and loads of space for recording programmes.
      I used AliExpress and they if you buy using the "choice" option you get free 7day delivery to UK with detailed tracking 👍
