OLED55B7 Amazon app - no 4k no HDR

PC_Arcade

Question

I bought the OLED55b7v at the weekend and it's awesome, the only issue I'm having is the Amazon app doesn't offer any 4k or HDR programmes whatsoever!

I've updated the app to the latest and updated the firmware as well (now on 4.70.65).

I uninstalled and re-installed the amazon app and still nothing above 1080p!

[edit to add] I should add, Netlix, Nvidia Shield and the xbox all work perfectly well with HDR / Doby Vision etc.[/edit]

Can anyone help?

Here's LG's page on the issue:

Most of the items listed you have already undertaken, I think the only thing to check is your region set up.

After that possibly an email to Amazon, their tech support is reasonably good.

No technical problem at all. Turned out to be user error, I wasn't expecting 4k shows to be hidden as well as they are!

All sorted now thank you for your help

Even worse than their crappy navigation, there is a bunch of content in 4K on Amazon Video that doesn't even show up in any search. Both seasons of The Expanse are available in 4K, but you'll never find them without a direct browser link (you add them to your watchlist from your browser and they'll show up the next time you open the app on your TV). Other shows you'll search for and only get the regular HD version where the 4K version can be found by navigating to the right place. Why they even SHOW the HD versions on apps that have 4K capacity is beyond me. If your bandwidth is weak, the app will automatically switch to the HD version anyway, so there's no reason anyone would intentionally choose the HD version given the choice of both. Just do what other services do and have one either listing that shows all available versions (Vudu), or just show the best version the users' equipment can handle (Netflix).

Agreed 100% Amazon prime's app is terrible!

      Hi,
I have my LG 4K Smart TV -Model : 43UJ632T.
I could not able to use the Wireless Keyboard ( Logitech K230) with Builtin Apps like Youtube, Amazon Prime or in Netflix to search. I could able to use only thru Magic Remote.
But the same Keyboard is working fine in Google Movies & SunNXT apps.
Could you please help me in fixing the same.
      Thanks,
      Sriram.

I have two LG C2 tv's both running OS 03.21.30. Attempts to update the OS state that this is the current version as of 12/2022.  Amazon Music won't open on either of them, the splash screen appears and that's it, for hours.  It opens fine on other devices in the house, Sony TV, PC's, and droid phones. Other streaming apps work fine with no buffering or glitches.
The solutions offered online list instructions for clearing app caches using a series of menus that aren't even remotely close to the menus available on these TV's.  I've checked every available menu and there's absolutely nothing offering the ability to clear app caches. App Manager offers exactly two options: Launch or Delete. Others insist that you need to clear the cache from within the app but of course the app won't open so that's a dead end.  I did clear the browser cache but it had no effect this AMZN Music problem.
      So far I've also:
Deleted and re-installed the app multiple times; Left the TV's unplugged 24+ hours; Full reboot of the router multiple times; Factory Reset of the TV's. If anyone has a solution that doesn't involve buying a fire stick I'm very interested - thanks
(edit) one of these tv's is five feet from the router.  Distance isn't the issue.

      Hi Team,
After update of LG WebOS to 04.40.70, Amazon Prime Video app on my LG Smart TV stopped working. It started giving error :
      Internet Connectivity Problem
There is an internet connection problem. Check the device's internet settings, data cables, or try to resetting your router. Also, turning your device off, and then back on might fix the problem. For further assistance, please contact Amazon customer service at www.amazon.com/videohelp
The internet/wifi connection is fine and all the other apps are working without any issue on the LG smart TV.
I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Prime video app, but that didn't help.
Has anyone faced this issue ? Is there a solution available for this issue.
      Thanks & Regards,
      Nitin

With the Amazon Music app, LG smart TV owners who also happen to be Prime members can finally access two million songs on their TVs. But there is a more convenient approach for you to play Amazon Music on LG smart TV. With an link hidden, please login to view or Mac, you are able to and them play them directly on your smart TV without the Amazon Music app. And you don't worry that your smart TV is not compatible with LG smart TV.

Tried to launch the Amazon Music app on my TV this morning and got this error. This just looks like an expired certificate error, but the app is 1.0.0 and hasn't been updated since release in 2020, so I suspect it's not supported anymore anyway. Anyone have it working on perhaps a newer TV? This one's two or three years old.
