I'm afraid it looks like LG have dropped support for Freeview Play this year which means catchup apps like ITVx, 4OD or Channel 5 arent available. This isnt made clear on product pages and not covered well in reviews given how important it is. They've also dropped DTS support this year too. Other brands have adopted Freely to provide catchup and live TV into the future but not LG. Something similar happened to 2020 CX models and it was many months before some of those apps were made available then. Assuming this also affects C5 and B5 this will become more and more talked about until we're able to get LG to sort it out.1 point

Hey LG Can you actually answer forum questions because many people want answers, and really support your products. Even me I have asked question but nothing zilch, zit. So we buy but nil zit, zero help from you Product such as TV's are limited use and life. Playback support and updates are really bad (Only bare minimum support in TV's) Seriously this does not make people like me want to purchase your products again I am seriously looking at other makers to purchase It is a shame because you have such a great product Yes I am NOT happy1 point

Hi all, last week I got my new LG 65" C4 Oled delivered. I investigated using first a 32Gb memory stick for recording live programmes and pause live TV facility. I was able to record programmes but the Live TV would not work 🥲 The LG usb is the slower 2.0 spec but I read that most low current SSD drives should still work fine with 2.0 Today I received a 240Gb drive with Sata to usb 3.0 cable (3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0). I can confirm that everyting works fine and for just £17.40 I now have pause live TV and loads of space for recording programmes. I used AliExpress and they if you buy using the "choice" option you get free 7day delivery to UK with detailed tracking 👍 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007029050954.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007456493651.html1 point

I haven't searched this forum, but there has to be others who find that tv remote pointer to be extremely annoying. I'm actually surprised that we still can't turn that feature off. Having the cursor/pointer feature isn't even close to the importance of being able to shut off. I mean, how hard is to put one checkbox in the ui to toggle the feature on or off? It seems like a no-brainer, big bang for the buck change that many users would appreciate1 point

As promised: After uninstalling LG SmartShare and installing Serviio (free version), and running it for 5+ days now - no problems. Looks like I found my new Windows / LG MediaServer. And the fact that it runs as a service automatically, actually makes it easier.1 point

I contacted the local LG service center and they changed the motherboard for the TV (under warranty), hopefully the new one will work fine.1 point

@wallyricks You may be correct that a Windows Update has made this start to occur. Both Windows 10 and 11 have been beefing up security a lot recently, to stop bad/buggy executables and apps from compromising the system. It is possible that the LG SmartShare program has "got away with it" for some time, and as you say, best to choose a better, more up-to-date app.1 point

I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say there are more HP TouchPads left in the world than there are their matching original barrel chargers. This means if you have a TouchPad today, you’re probably using a TouchStone, a computer, or any other random USB A charging brick to (very slowly) charge your 13 year old device. And it means you’ve seen the error message in the image above every time you’ve plugged it into anything other than the original barrel charger or a computer. Fun fact, you can trick the TouchPad into charging normally and not feeding you the message by creating your own custom micro USB or USB C cable if you’ve modified your TouchPad. Stuff You’ll Need Assuming you have a micro USB (ie. non USB C modified TouchPad) you’ll need: 1. A 4-wire micro USB to USB A cable 2. 250k and 300k 1/4 watt resistors (1 each per cable) 3. Soldering iron and solder 4. Heat shrink or electrical tape If you’re making a USB C cable but only want to use it with a USB A charger then you’ll need: 1. A 4 wire USB C to USB A cable 2. Items 2-4 above If you’re making a true USB C to USB C cable that you plan to use with a USB C 3.1 charger you’ll need: 1. A 4-wire USB C cable 2. A USB C board with 5.1k resistor and the housing for it 3. Any 2-wire cable or a 4-wire cable that you’ll cut the data wires out of (green and white typically) and that you’ll cut the ends from 4. Items 2-4 from the first section above Prepare the Wires Regardless of which cable you’re making, the end that goes to the TouchPad will need all 4 wires and the resistors. So grab the 4-wire cable of your choice and strip the ends, and I recommend pre-tinning them with some solder. Build the TouchPad Side of the Cable See the image below for how to arrange the resistors. If you’re making a USB A cable, go ahead and cut into two pieces, set aside the USB A side, and grab the micro or USB C for this part.. It doesn’t matter how far away from either end you go, it’s your choice. Strip the wires back so you have enough bare wire to work with. 1. Solder the ground (black) wire to one side of the 300k resistor. 2. Solder data- (green), data+ (white), the other side of the 300k resistor and one side of the 250k resistor together. 3. Then solder the other end of the 250k resistor to the red (power) wire. Build the Charger Side of the Cable If you’re making a USB A cable, then all you have left to do is reconnect power (red) and ground (black) to their corresponding colors on the TouchPad side of the cable, trim off the data lines from the USB A side, clean it all up with some heat shrink or electrical tape and you’re done! If you’re making a USB C to USB C cable grab the USB C board I linked above and your 2-wire cable (or 4-wire that you’ve trimmed the data lines from). You’ll also have to cut the end off to make room for the new connector. 1. Pre-tin the board on the two outside pads marked as VCC and Gnd in the image below. 2. Solder on the red (power) wire to VCC and then black (ground) to Gnd. If you bought the housing and boards together, don’t forget to the housing on the wire before you start soldering. You also may need some super glue to keep the plastic housing from coming apart. 3. Back at the TouchPad side of the wire, take the other end of your 2-wire cable and attach red and black to their corresponding ends, clean it up with some heat shrink or electrical tape and you’re done! Final Thoughts You should now be able to use any charger you want to and the TouchPad will believe you’re plugged into a normal battery charger and will allow the normal charge rate flow through. Note, you’ve effectively removed the ability to use this cable for Data since the data lines are no longer connected. Also, for those who modded the TouchPad with USB C, the port already has 5.1k resistance but cannot communicate that to a USB C 3.1 charger with the added resistance on the data lines. This is why the TouchPad end of the USB C cable must be a “dumb” 4-wire USB C cable and the charger end needs the 5.1k resistance to tell the charger on that end to send power. This also means that you must remember which end is which, but don’t worry. Picking the wrong direction won’t hurt anything as the USB C charger won’t allow power since the wire doesn’t tell it to. I marked the TouchPad side of the USB C cable with a dab of orange paint pen. Finally, I hope you found this helpful or at the very least entertaining! I had fun exploring the different ways of making this work and live streamed it on Twitch so feel free to give it a watch. #webos4ever The post Guide: Create an “Original Barrel” Charging Wire for your HP TouchPad first appeared on pivotCE. Information about the reasons for turning off the TV (due to problems with the equipment or a normal shutdown with the remote control) is stored in the logs of the TV service menu. You can look there and evaluate what causes the shutdown. The decoding of the codes is here: https://webos-forums.ru/post174691.html#p174691.1 point

Hello pingber, I am a LG user like you. You have a C1 and I have a C3. Netherless, the home screen should look like the attached picture of my home screen (sorry it is in french). The last row contains input and some documentations in my case. If this is also your case, then for this last (bottom) row you cannot change it. Witht the lastest WebOS version, you cannot remove the different rows. Unfortunately, WebOS is quite rigide : and you cannot really customize and simplify the home screen. Phil. IMG_4066.HEIC1 point

I also have this exact issue, and I am also on Rowridge, though I didn’t think of the transmitter being implicated. I can tell you the ‘fix’ - Settings/General/Programmes/Programme Tuning and Settings/Programme List Update - set this to Off. (The exact journey from Settings to Programmes varies across my four LG TVs). After that, if the programme list really changes, you will get ‘Programme Map Changed - do you want to retune Yes/No?’ and you can do this when it is convenient for you. As to the problem, it is the TV waking up once a night to check the Programme List, finding no broadcast channels, or thinking that it has, and in a massive failure of common sense, deleting all the ‘missing’ channels from your EPG, leaving only the few IP ‘channels’ that are always there, as per your first picture (even though I can’t see either image, I’m pretty sure what they look like). And then not waking up later on to check again, and maybe put the channels back. LG should fix the check so that if it finds no channels at all, it leaves things alone, or reschedules the check for an hour later, or some such. It would be interesting if anybody else reports the same issue here, and from what transmitter. I might ask Freeview what they think, as well.1 point

Do you have any devices connected via HDMI? For example a DVD player, or a set-top-box or PVR? If so, check the cables are not low spec or bad. I had that exact issue, and it was an old/cheap HDMI cable, and even when NOT using that port, it would affect a TV channel display.1 point

I found a way to boost my download speed! I went into the connection settings on my TV and switched the IP address to manual. Then, I entered a custom IP address that works on my network instead of using the automatic setting. This bumped up my download speed from 7 MB to 22 MB! Just make sure the IP address you choose isn't already in use on your network.1 point

I shifted to India from UAE with my 55SM9000PVA LG TV. Since it is a TV for the middle east, I can not change the region to India. Therefore I can not log in to my LG account and have apps from the LG content store of India. Ok, so I thought I should be able to use my account in UAE and use the apps which I used in UAE. Now these apps say the IP address is not from the region, so can't run those apps. So I am stuck up with an expensive smart TV without smartness. No service center, neither LG India have any answers to it. I hate using set top boxes please help.1 point

I did these steps and it works…….but I have to do this often. TV also constantly drops the internet. I bought two LG TV’s a year ago and both have constant issues. Freezing, won’t connect to internet (fibre optic) and now these issues with my new sound bar. I have to unplug them to reset constantly. I will never buy LG again. I never had these issues with my Samsung’s.1 point

Well… it worked. I was skeptical as I had tried all these things but it appears that order matters. THANK YOU for posting this solution. My system had been working fine for years and just stopped a couple days ago. It had done this once in the past but a power reset (unplug from wall) solved the problem that time. Again, thank you for posting the solution - would really like to understand why this procedure works - what is set that gets reset and makes it work again.1 point

I am just wondering why LG went with WebOS, when with android TV you are sure that there will be ongoing development and huge team of people working on it. I just hoppe that someone will make available to change OS on TV as you can change it on phone, and i would emidiatly switch to Android TV!1 point

Being LG Apps developer, I must disappoint you, but there will be no improvement in the nearest future. They have lack of staff and are very slow to even test the submitted apps, not to mention the development of OS itself. Their interest is only to sell millions of TVs.1 point

TV is nice but there are a lot of details to be fixed. And as far as we know this is not a strong part of LG. Frustrating slow interface. TV may have worked a long time and can switch options menu, wait at least 10 seconds. All this happens in a dual-core processor. SmartShare again can not remember my desire, to i see the content in folders. Bad maintenance of subtitles. There is no possibility to change and preserve the default encoding to another on the list. At the same time can remembers the color, size and position of the subtitle. For extra as 3D dynamic subtitles, that each blu ray device supports, i do not even think. I do not want to talk about the strange consumer agreements and any restriction imposed by LG, if you do not accept. Such arrogance, even Apple does not allow.1 point

Most of the comments would suggest the software is still somewhat immature. Remember that this is the very first version of WebOS for the TV, and it has only been released for a few months now, and during that time several updates have been released that have resolved some issues. The good news with this is that LG have probably a few years worth of updates to solve these issues until the current hardware is obsolete and you HAVE to buy a whole new TV set. The bad news is of course that we have no idea what kind of items they have on their backlog. I doubt a company like LG have portals like Microsofts "Connect" where e.g. anyone can vote up new features, bugs etc for their products. For us, the only way are through official channels. And the more that report a specific problem, the more likely is that it will be resolved. For a first release, I think the OS is "OK". There are many features missing or not working properly, but I assume (without knowing) that they will be resolved in due time. If not, then the next time I won't buy an LG TV... /H1 point

Agreed, i alredy posted my disapoitment, I was fulled by the tv presentation about LGwebOS, it is actualy worse than any OS i have ever seen on TV as far the performance - the idea it selff is OK. switching chanels takes 3-5 sec opening seings somtimes takes up to 10 sec. you can only chose external or tv speakers not simuntaniasly and many more other things. I would gladly install google TV if there will be posibility or - even previuse LG smart tv OS1 point
