Question

I have LG Nano Cell smart TV. My native language is not supported in the languages for subtitles in Netflix. What is the easiest way to use external subtitles while watching Netflix.

@Petar I have never heard of that sort of functionality existing outside of the player app in use at the time.

Have you contacted Netflix support to ask when your language will be supported?

That's interesting because TV's with android have this funcionality however it is only available for android. This is why I ask, because I want to know what you have developed for this purpose. Netflix supports only 6 languages. It's not serious to ask Netflix since there are around 40 languages world wide and they cant have subtitles for all of them. However in the internet you can find subtitle for every language. And since Android has a solution I just want to know whether you have as well. Because Android supports many applications, much more than any other operating system, but for some reason you dont want to use android in your TV.

@Petar FYI:

1) LG TV's use WebOS, NOT Android, that is why the name of this peer-to-peer forum is LGWebOS).

2) This forum may have the name LG in it, but it is used just to identify the subject matter for enthusiasts to help other users. It has NO affiliation with LG at all, and they do NOT participate in any support issues, or comments made here.

Your last post seemed to be assuming that this site IS part of LG, and that "we" could help in some way. Sorry that is not the case, but some users on here may be able to suggest workarounds for issues, and provide technical expertise, but that is the limit of what we can do.

By the way, are you saying that you had an Android TV, and it DOES provide external speech driven Close Captions to the Neflix Player, provided "on-the-fly" via an internet connection?

It does not provide subtitles on the fly. The web app Substital finds subtitles from a database for the specific movie and plays them. If I could download the subtitles myself and insert them via USB in the TV for example this could also be a solution.

If I play an MKV video from a USB drive that contains multiple subtitle tracks with correct language tags, will webOS automatically select the appropriate subtitles, for example based on the TV interface language or the country where the TV is being used? Or it will just select first one/makred as fefault?

So basically I just got a new LG OLED TV (55 inch C5) and my Dad's C4 was seemingly able to display internal or embedded subtitles in TV shows through the built-in media player from external USB storage just fine with some tinkering in the menus.
But with mine, the subtitles are displaying all of the raw text in the subtitle files in the player, not using the arguments properly at all.
      Pictures included for reference

Is there any way to fix this other than literally doing subtitles for every episode externally, in a seperate file?
These subtitles work fine when I play from the exact same storage device on my phone through VLC, and again on my Dad's LG TV

Hello , There is no setting to select subtitles for series and movies, I tried clicking on the colors on the remote, but nothing worked, I poked around in settings and found nothing. I sent several emails to the company, but no response was received. I remember that there was an option in the previous version, who has the same problem and what can be done?

      LG OLED65C2AUA.
webOS TV version webOS25/10.2.2-61. up to date.
software version 33/22.95 up to date.
whenever I watch Netflix it freezes indiscriminately. Once it happened at minute 1:29 of a movie although it can happen at any time. the Netflix error message says to restart which I do but the issue persists. it is to the point where it is unwatchable. however, when I watch it through Firestick it is fine. Other TV's do not have the issue so I am thinking it is something with the TV. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the TV. I have powered down the TV. I have reset the router. I am wired with ethernet so not using wifi. any help would be appreciated to fix this issue.

As per the subject line, I have had a USB drive connected to my television for over four years, but for the past few days it has not been recognising the directories where my films and music are organised, and is displaying EVERYTHING in a single list of over a thousand files.
It is a 1TB drive (half of the maximum 2TB allowed) with a power supply, formatted as NTFS, and not completely full.
I have checked the drive and it has no bad sectors. I have tried connecting it to both USB ports and all the files are in the permitted format (avi, mkv, mp4, mp3, etc.).
I have also tried another 1TB drive, but the result is the same.
Do I need to reconfigure something in the television settings?
It would be a significant loss if I cannot resolve this issue.
Thank you in advance for your responses.
