4K YouTube video memory crash

Recommended Posts

So you buy a LG 4k ready TV,  you load the YouTube app that came pre installed and that you have updated to the latest version so you can see 4K quality. Then you try to watch ANY 4K video and the you get the app "out of memory" crash. WTF why is the TV free memory not large enough to play 4K videos via the app? What needs to be done to make this work? Add more memory, free up memory, uninstall everything?  Most apps including the LG browser crash consistently with this memory message. Don't you test this stuff before releasing it?
Come on LG give some feedback on the real issue and more importantly what can be done to fix it?

As a rule of thumb LG do not develop the apps for webOS, that is the purview of the content providers.

Plus this a user to user forum and there is no guarantee that LG even looks at forum such as this one, although if they have any sense they will.

There is a sticky post with a link to the LG portal where you can detail the problems you are having.  Add in to your communication with them all the relevant details of your TV, firmware and the release version of any relevant apps.  Make it clear you are a member of this forum and that you will detail what responses you get from them here.  That way at least it is made clear that you are not one person alone who they can ignore.

Just bought an LGLED-65UJ630 65INCH TV. Right away I started to get the message "This app will now restart to free up more memory". After searching the internet and forums, I now understand that this problem is huge, it has been going on for years now and it is right across many models of LG TV's.
I have tried everything to fix this problem. It has the latest firmware. I did the factory reset and that lasted 4 hours before I got the message back. I turn off the TV and leave it for 10 minutes, maybe one hour later I get the message. I delete browsing history, maybe 10 minutes and I get the message..... you get the message.
As I understand it, the problem is that LG TV's don't have enough internal memory, but they have shipped a ton of their "smart" TV's with this problem.
My question is, has anybody heard anything from anybody, anywhere about a solution to this problem. I really want to keep this TV, but it is not fit for purpose in this state.

I have a 48" OLED (Model: OLED48A26LA).  after updating to software version 13.30.61 the Sky New Live feed just displays "There was a problem with this video [timeout]".  It worked perfectly before the TV software upgrade.
Ive reinstalled the Sky News app but still doesnt work.  wifi etc is all ok.
      Any ideas?

      Hello,
I have a problem with the subtitles when I try to share a video wirelessly directly from my PC to my LG 55SM9010PLA TV. I am not talking about sharing the whole screen (it lags a bit), just the video itself.
Sharing the video itself works well, but randomly the TV randomly does not recognise the subtitle, the sub option is not active in the TV menu, and there are no subtitles. It is in the same folder on my PC as the movie (.mkv), with the same name. In case of some movies it works, in case of others not, and I do not see the reasons why.
First I tought it is becouse the format of the subtitle needs to be ".sub", becouse it worked with one movie. So I have learnt how to convert properly ".srt" to ".sub" - but still no success.
Then I realised, in the case of another movie ".srt" worked on the TV, so I got really confused.
I see no logic behind it.  Could you help me, what is the key here, what am I missing?
      Thank you!

Has anyone else had the same problem as me regarding the 'like' button on the YouTube app on my Oled77g7v? There is a thumbs up button and a thumbs down button for each video. These icons are supposed to be just an outline unless you click on them and then they fill in to show you have selected them. However, this no longer works on my TV. It is as if you never clicked. In fact, the 'like' icon is always pre_filled, no matter what I do. This used to work properly and it still works correctly on a Sony TV I have. Any ideas would be very welcome!
