MKV with vobsub: subtitles doesn't detected

Question

Posted

Hi,

I own an OLED 55E6V, firmware 5.30.10

I have some mkv with subtitles tracks in vobsub format. The internal video player doesn't recognize them (the subtitle button is grayed).

I have some other mkv, but with subtitle in subrip form, and they works without any issue.

I checked the mkv with vobsub subtitles, playing them with a PC and they works. so the issue is with the webOs. the mkv are streamed with a QNAP NAS.

someone of you have the same issue? in case, there're chances to have a fix?

Edit:

the same video, streamed to a Samsung Smart TV works as expected, ad the subtitles are visible and usable.

Hi, I got the same issue with my new LG 43UJ750V: I cannot play any VOBSUB from any MKV files.

I am also unable to play any FLAC audio music from my PC via wi-fi (FLAC files play just fine if played from external memory devices lick an USB memory stick).

Files are streamed enabling multimedia stream (DLNA) server service from Windows 10 Pro.

I installed the last version of the LG WebOS available on the LG support site (version 03.60.15) but both issues are still present.

If I play an MKV video from a USB drive that contains multiple subtitle tracks with correct language tags, will webOS automatically select the appropriate subtitles, for example based on the TV interface language or the country where the TV is being used? Or it will just select first one/makred as fefault?

So basically I just got a new LG OLED TV (55 inch C5) and my Dad's C4 was seemingly able to display internal or embedded subtitles in TV shows through the built-in media player from external USB storage just fine with some tinkering in the menus.
But with mine, the subtitles are displaying all of the raw text in the subtitle files in the player, not using the arguments properly at all.
      Pictures included for reference

Is there any way to fix this other than literally doing subtitles for every episode externally, in a seperate file?
These subtitles work fine when I play from the exact same storage device on my phone through VLC, and again on my Dad's LG TV

      Hey All,

I have google TV which connected with HDMI to my LG
It worked perfectly first few days and I was able to fully control the TV with remote
It suddenly stopped working yesterday and i cant contol the tv from remote of the google tv
I did factory reset to google tv but didn't help
I do see that controlling enabled both on tv and streamer but still dead. Any ideas?

Hello , There is no setting to select subtitles for series and movies, I tried clicking on the colors on the remote, but nothing worked, I poked around in settings and found nothing. I sent several emails to the company, but no response was received. I remember that there was an option in the previous version, who has the same problem and what can be done?
