I've been having this issue for several months now. After using Netflix for a while, the app will stop buffering and get stuck at 25%.

I've been experimenting for a while now and have noticed a few details. As far as I can tell, it seems to be related to the operating system, WebOS. Here's me really hoping this is not a hardware issue. Google "lg webos netflix problem" and you will see A LOT of people complaining about this.

Here's what I found.

1st) In my case, the problem only happens to our LG WebOS, model 47LB6500. All other devices, such as smartphones, tablets, computers, game consoles, all the way to Samsung smart TVs... no other device has the same issue.

2nd) It DOES NOT appear to be related to internet provider stability. I'm on a fiber optic cable with 40Mbps UP/DOWN symmetric speeds. Every other device keeps its connection normally, except WebOS+Netflix.

3rd) It is also NOT related to a weak WiFi signal. The router is a mere 3ft away from the TV without any walls in between. Other devices get a relatively weaker signal across walls and continue to work normally.

3rd) Even though the issue presents itself by using the Netflix app, it DOES NOT keep itself isolated to it. The software developer in me feels like ruling out Netflix's blame on the issue. It's strange how no other app will cause the problem, but once it happens, the entirity of WebOS loses connectivity. YouTube, web browser and all other apps are also unable to reach out. Closing or killing apps from memory makes no difference.

4th) While in this state, TV settings will NOT work properly. Under "Network > WiFi", trying to wipe out the current network settings and reconnect to the router WILL FAIL. Once the WiFi credentials are wiped, the TV is unable to reconnect to the same router.

5th) The only solution is to turn the TV set entirely OFF and ON again. It only takes a minute, but it will brutally murder your Netflix experience.

Recently, it's become unbearable. We are unable to watch a single 25min episode without eventually bumping into the 25% buffer of death.

I'm really hoping for a solution via software update. I can't tell exactly which version started, but we never had the issue until after a couple of firmware updates.

I have the same problem. WIFI seems to be more stable than the cable connection. I try to keep both connections up and this seems to make a difference. You are right, this is an issue for A LG software update. I hope they are reding this blog.

Best

i had same issue for awhile now but ever since been using LAN cable rather than WIFI issue is gone, so I think its a WIFI issue with LG TV.

I see essentially the same problem, though I have not verified the 25% figure. My solution is using NETFLIX through my Roku.  there  everything works fine, thus holding NETFLIX and my wifi blameless. This will be a bad solution for any 4K (UHD) programming because I have an Roku w/o that capability.

      Hi there,

I have an LG smart TV OLED65G36LA (LG OS v03.20.17, webOS TV version 8.20.0-710) , and the Prime Video App was no longer able to update (from Dec 2025) and therefore could no longer be used.
I have tried uninstalling the app and re-installing, and that was unable to work, so then applied a full reset on the LG TV and so had to reinstall all of my other apps (Apple TV, Netflix, etc etc) which all successfully downloaded so confirmed network connections and setup are all confirmed working.
When I try to download the Prime Video app, it remains stuck on the download screen and is unable to update.
      Thanks

      LG OLED65C2AUA.
webOS TV version webOS25/10.2.2-61. up to date.
software version 33/22.95 up to date.
whenever I watch Netflix it freezes indiscriminately. Once it happened at minute 1:29 of a movie although it can happen at any time. the Netflix error message says to restart which I do but the issue persists. it is to the point where it is unwatchable. however, when I watch it through Firestick it is fine. Other TV's do not have the issue so I am thinking it is something with the TV. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the TV. I have powered down the TV. I have reset the router. I am wired with ethernet so not using wifi. any help would be appreciated to fix this issue.

Hi, I have a feature request for the sound out setting. I often connect my Bluetooth headphones to the TV. We don't use the internal speaker of the TV, we use the optical sound out setting whenever I don't use Bluetooth. It would make our lives a lot easier if the TV can remember the last sound out setting before connecting to Bluetooth and default back to this setting when the Bluetooth device gets disconnected. At the moment, each time I disconnect the headphones I have to go back into settings and change the sound out setting from internal speaker to optical again.
      Thanks and regards

My magic remote and my Roku remote stopped working for turning off power so I performed a factory reset after troubleshooting to get the remote working.  I am now stuck at the 1st screen of the Factory Reset which says "Press the OK Button(wheel) on your remote."  Well... this really stinks because the remote doesn't work!!!  I have tried a USB mouse, a new magic remote, other LG Remotes with no luck.  I have also tried using the button on the bottom of the tv.  And, I contacted support which was just an exercise in redoing everything I had already tried... No Luck!!
This is a Nano Cell 55NANO81ANA which is basically just a big brick now since I cannot even use any of the inputs.  Does anyone have a trick for getting past this initial screen???
      Thanks for the help.

I have recently purchased an LG 55QNED86 television. I am located in Iran. Everything seems to be working fine, but when I click on any of the options, it tells me I must first consent to the LG Smart TV user agreement. However, I then get a message saying "Unable to load user agreements - a server error has occurred ......"
      Can you help?
