Easy way to switch audio ouput

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Quick question:  is there a quick & easy way to switch audio output on a LG WebOS tv?

Problem:

My wife likes to watch TV with the TV speakers as audio output. But when I watch a movie, I like to use my

which is connected through optical out. So we have do the following like 4 times a day:

Select Internal speakers:  home ► settings ► advanced setting ► Sound ► Sound Out ► Internal TV Speaker

or:

Select Optical Out:  home ► settings ► advanced setting ► Sound ► Sound Out ► Audio Out (Optical/HDMI ARC)

I really hope there's a quicker way, because the menu system of WebOS is so slow on my LG 42LB670V. I have to wait like 10 seconds for every button I click.

Thanks!

Yes, there is a quicker way.

In case you use a Magic Remote: there is a special button above the settings button. Push it and a onscreen-popup will appear. From there you can change the audio output directly.

Don't know if this button exist with the standard remote.

Another option may be the use of the voice control feature or the LG remote app for your smartphone. Haven't checked this but may be worth a try for you.

Hi, thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately, I seem to have a different generation magic remote:

There is no settings button. However, it does have a mic button. I'll try to find a (voice) command list for tv settings.

So far it just searches online to whatever I say in the mic.

I have an LG OLED55C6P TV. Because of hearing difficulties, I generally use bluetooth headphones when watching the TV.  As far as I have been able to determine, there appears to be no way to use the headphones and also have the TV speakers working at the same time. This means that if I'm watching TV, no one else can watch and listen unless they have headphones.  Am I missing something?  Is there a way to have the headphones and TV speakers working at the same time?

Hi, since I think yesterday I have an issue with HBO GO - it just shows unsupported device and that is it. According to their website, WebOS 3.5+ should be supported, I have LG uh6107 and in menu it shows SW version  5.60.15, so I think it should be ok.. does anybody have the same issue?

My SM8600PUA  is connected to my Denon receiver via the optical cable and set to internal speaker + optical cable. However when I play an Apple TV program I see the Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos logo in the upper right of the screen initially but my receiver is  decoding audio and setting itself to stereo instead of Atmos. Is this a known issue and is an update to the app to support all the channels present in the stream? Or am I just not setting something. Atmos is enabled on the TV.

Found multiplex application that use letsencrypt stop working in 30 September 2021 on LG WebOS 3.5. This appear to be wide spread multiplex version of WEBOS.

To allow connections to a personal server, devices running earlier webOS versions must be set to Allow Insecure Connections in the TV app settings and the Plex Media Server must be set to Preferred for the Secure Connections preference.
