  2. Good News! LG Support answered me today. There is an update (05.10.15). It cannot be download over-the-air (yet). But from their website: https://www.lg.com/de/support/product/lg-OLED77C9PLA 1. Download 2. unpack the zip file 3. Put the extracted file in a folder named "LG_DTV" on an usb stick. 4. insert the usb stick on the tv usb port 5. start tv 6. "update now?" -> kick "yes" Now Dolby Atmos with 4k 60hz on my OLED C9 (from 2019) works fine with Apple TV 4k (2021 Model) and Denon Receiver just fine! nice!

  3. I output the sound from my LG 75UJ657A to external speakers through a bluetooth connection, but it doesn't automatically connect to the bluetooth device when I turn the TV on. Whenever I cycle the TV off and, then, back on, the TV asks if I want to connect to the bluetooth device, and I have to select "yes" with the remote. My smart phone automatically connects to all the bluetooth devices I've set it up with. When I start my car, my phone connects automatically to the car stereo/phone system, and it does the same with other bluetooth speakers I have. This is what I want my TV to do. How do I get my LG 75UJ657A to automatically connect to the bluetooth device I've set up with it?

  5. Hi everyone, I wish LG would consider updating their Codecs list or at least give us a way of installing this codecs in our TV manually. i know my TV is capable of playing a lot of stuff but i'm always stuck with "not supported" for most of the media i have. One of the most wished stuff i'd love to see is Added support for H.264 10bit (still very popular and used a lot) as well as Opus codecs (its a Free codec and its getting a lot use recently especially with H.265 MKV videos) Like i said, please add this codecs and more or at least give us a way of doing it ourselves. i know there might be legal issues and some codecs are payed, so just let us install it ourselves instead. Thanks.

  6. I noticed since the last update of WebOS, it defaults to a screen with apps along the bottom rather than HDMI1 as before on startup. Even after going into the input settings and selecting HDMI1, it stills defaults to the other screen on startup. When selecting HDMI1 on the inputs screen, it has a red dot in the corner, which I would assumes means that's the selected default. But again, this seems to be ignored this on startup. Thanks.

  7. I called Amazon CS and they said it is a known problem and has to do with a bug in the latest release of the app. "They are working on it". I don't now why they don't re-release the old version until they get their act together

  8. Hi. What can I do to get my TV to use the full broadband speed that I've got available. My tv is a 55EC930V and is using a wired connection to my router. My broadband is currently running at 125Mbps. When I use any other devices such as a laptop, mobile phone, etc the speed using fast.com returns anything between 120 to 130 MBps. But, when I use the web browser on the TV, it always maxes out at 33Mbps. This value is reported by fast.com. If I use the speed test in the Netflix app, this returns approx 29Mbps. I never get anything higher, so what's limiting it? The same problem occurs for YouTube and that's the only other App that I've got installed. If the network board in the TV is supposed to be 10-100Mbps, why don't I get 100 Mbps? I know I won't get 125Mbps because LG never puts 1Gbps in any of it's TVs.

  9. Found multiplex application that use letsencrypt stop working in 30 September 2021 on LG WebOS 3.5. This appear to be wide spread multiplex version of WEBOS. See https://letsencrypt.org/docs/dst-root-ca-x3-expiration-september-2021/ AND https://support.plex.tv/articles/204080173-which-smart-tv-models-are-supported/ As PLEX blaming to be LG fault. LG please provide solution to only 2 year old TV LG Our current app is available on 4K/UHD LG television models running the following system software: webOS 3.0 webOS 3.5 webOS 4.0 webOS 5.0 No 720p or 1080p (“full HD”) sets are supported for our current app at this time. Note: Due to root certificate limitations with the device OS itself, only webOS 5.0+ devices support secure connections with a personal Plex Media Server. To allow connections to a personal server, devices running earlier webOS versions must be set to Allow Insecure Connections in the TV app settings and the Plex Media Server must be set to Preferred for the Secure Connections preference.

  11. I called LG today. The tech had me change the location in settings to Canada, restart, and then back to US. That did not help. Then he was going to have me do a factory reset (which I already had done twice before the call), and so I asked him what he would have me do next if the factory reset did not work. He said he didn't know, upon which I asked him to please check if others were reporting this issue (it did not help that he never heard of SlingTV). After about 5 minutes on hold, he came back and said other customers have complained about this issue and factory reset (which includes signing out of SlingTV) did not help either. The technician said they will elevate the problem to the LG software engineers to work this out with SlingTV. Bottomline: LG tech support was not able to resolve the issue for me. Hopefully a future update will resolve the problem.

  12. Signing out of Sling, or deleting the Sling app will allow you to go to the Home Screen like normal but as soon as you sign back-in to Sling, or relaunch the app, the loop starts again. So, it is only a temporary fix. If you launch Netflix from your remote keypad then go to the Home button, that seems to work too - until you relaunch Sling. I think this issue started after the last Sling update.

  13. Nobody knows if LG is going to fix it, but honestly, the community already has. I'll summarize what I did which was based on everyone's helpful instructions above, meant for someone who knows little to nothing about telnet, ssh, etc. (If you are familiar with those applications, this will be a breeze. If not, just follow the instructions and search the web if you'd like to learn more about the commands used.) Note that most of these instructions are taken from https://github.com/RootMyTV/RootMyTV.github.io and may be slightly different depending on your TV. On your TV... Turn on your TV Open the web browser app Browse to rootmy.tv Slide the little "Slide to root" bar to the right if you have the kind of remote that lets you use an on-screen pointer or just press the number 5 on your remote Accept the security prompt The exploit will proceed automatically and the TV will reboot itself; choose to reboot a second time to finalize the installation of the Homebrew Channel (the TV may turn off instead of rebooting - if this happens, just turn the TV back on again) Your TV should now have Homebrew Channel app installed, and an unauthenticated(!) root telnet service exposed Go to the TV's network settings and write down its IP address Note that your TV must be turned on in order to connect to it remotely; when it's off, it's all the way off (although there may be a non-power-saving setting you can enable to keep the TV's operating system running when it's off so that it will turn on faster, in which case you might be able to connect to it even when it's off). On your computer... Enable telnet (sorry Mac users, you'll need to figure this out on your own) Click on the Windows Start Menu Type "Windows Features" and click on "Turn Windows features on and off" Scroll down to Telnet client and check the box Click OK Open a command prompt (Win+R then type "cmd") Generate an encryption key pair that will be used to connect securely to the TV Type "mkdir .ssh" to create the secure shell directory if it's not there already Type "ssh-keygen -t rsa -f .\.ssh\lgtv_rsa" (the file name can be anything you want, but that's what I used) Type "notepad .ssh\config" Paste the following contents into the newly created file: Host 1.2.3.4 User root IdentityFile C:\Users\yourusername\.ssh\lgtv_rsa Replace "1.2.3.4" with your TV's IP address you wrote down in step 8 above Replace "yourusername" with the directory name where your user data is stored Save the file and quit Notepad Type "type .ssh\lgtv_rsa.pub" (it will spit out some ugly text - this is your public encryption key) Select all the text and copy it to your clipboard - you'll need this shortly Type "telnet 1.2.3.4", where 1.2.3.4 is your TV's IP address you wrote down in step 8 above, to connect to your TV (No username or password is required to connect as the "root" user - we'll fix this security hole in a moment) Type "vi /home/root/.ssh/authorized_keys" Once the new empty file opens, type the letter "i" to enter insert mode Press Ctrl-V to paste in the clipboard contents, which is the public key generated in step 3 Press the "Esc" (Escape) key to exit insert mode Type ":wq!" and press Enter to write the file and then quit the editor immediately Type "exit" to exit the telnet application Type "exit" again to exit the command prompt Back on your TV... Open the Homebrew Channel Go to Settings (the Gear icon) Disable Telnet Enable SSH Server Enable Block system updates Reboot the TV Back on your computer, apply Tam's SSL fix... Disable telnet (follow the instructions in "On your computer" above but uncheck the box next to Telnet client instead of checking it this time) Open a command prompt (Win+R then type "cmd") Type "ssh 1.2.3.4" (not telnet this time!), where 1.2.3.4 is your TV's IP address, to connect to your TV (again, no username or password is required, but it's still secure since the encryption key you generated above is used) Follow Tam's instructions above, repeated here (I suggest copy/pasting the "wget" line from the browser into your command prompt window): (Now, if you're like me, the "wget" command will fail because the version running on the TV doesn't have the capability of connecting to secure HTTPS web sites. Skip to the Alternate Instructions if you have the same issue with the "wget" command.) cd /tmp wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/tf318/lg/main/update-ca-certs.sh chmod +x update-ca-certs.sh ./update-ca-certs.sh Alternate instructions If the "wget" command failed, follow these steps instead: Open Tam's script file in this browser in another tab: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/tf318/lg/main/update-ca-certs.sh Copy the text and then close that tab Return to the command prompt... Type "vi /tmp/update-ca-certs.sh" Once the new empty file opens, type the letter "i" to enter insert mode Press Ctrl-V to paste in the clipboard contents, which is the Tam's script Press the "Esc" (Escape) key to exit insert mode Type ":wq!" and press Enter to write the file and then quit the editor immediately Type the following two commands: chmod +x update-ca-certs.sh ./update-ca-certs.sh Whether using Tam's original instructions or my Alternate version, the TV will reboot (twice, maybe) and Plex should now open and be happy. At least mine was. Thanks again, RootMy.TV team and Tam, for all your research and hard work!

  15. After updating to the latest web browser with new user interface on LG C9, subtitles on all streaming websites disappears every 2-3mins. Video continues to play without subs. The subtitles will re-appear if I move the magic remote but disappears again after 3mins. Should be a widespread issue as it's also happening on Youtube.com videos with subs. Un-related but Play/Stop button on magic remote also stop working on the new browser.

  19. Hello, Is it possible to add the driver for external usb 3 gigabit ethernet adapters in the firmware to support them and get more network bandwith like on the oled TV C9 and CX (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgJUUNCsHao) to give to the product the ability to play 4K hdr mkv remux of high bit rate blurays without stuttering (like gemini man or billy lynn for example streamed from Plex server with giga network) ? If you play the same file on direct attached usb drive, no stuttering at all and it's ultra fast to load and fast forward for example. It already supports external usb2 FastEthernet adapters with ASIX AX88772 chipset and work well on both type A and type C ports, I have tested it, but it is also a 100Mbit/s adapter like the integrated one, so same bandwith, and stuttering is always here. The driver that need to be added to the firmware is the one for the usb 3 gigabit ethernet adapters with ASIX AX88179 chipset like on oled C9 and CX, but no luck, at least with firmware 3.0.0.8 it is not supported, eihter with type A ports or with the type C port (I have tested both, RJ45 leds stay OFF, the same with a power usb 3 hub in between, driver not included in the firmware). I have also tesed usb3 gigabit ethernet adapter with realtek RT L8153 chipset, wich is seems to be supported on older oled C7 and C8, but it is also not supported (blinking leds this time but no connection, driver not included in the firmware). This is very frustrating for a 1800$ product !

  20. Same issues on 77CX. Previous browser version had other issues but not as bad as the new one. Hope it gets fixed soon, I hate that such an expensive TV has these kinds of issues. Where is the QA? I found that turning off Adaptive Streaming using Javascript fixes the disappearing subtitle issue, but it means sacrificing video quality, so it's not a good solution. (play / pause still won't work). Also there is no way to downgrade back to the original version. I also have a C9, luckily I haven't and will not update the browser on that TV as it's been working great, better than the original CX browser version (new update ruined it completely).

  21. Hey, I had some compatibility problems with REACTJS and ENACTJS, with the older versions of Webos, for example 3.0. I had to abandon these frameworks and rewrite much of the code in pure Javascript. For this reason the progress of the project is a little slow. I hope to launch a functional version in the second half of this year. I appreciate the remembrance and encouragement.

  22. I'd like a fast accessible shortcut to turn off the screen, eg. when pressing settings, a button on the screen. Or even better, the possibility to configure the speaker off button on the remote to turn off the screen instead. It should work independently of the energy saving feature, so that energy saving is not set to off when the screen is turned on again. The existing procedure to turn off screen is to complex press settings, press all settings, press energy saving, press off..... and when the screen is turned on again, the energy saving is set to off, and not to the previous value (eg. auto). 23. If you use the voice function on the remote and say "screen off" it will also turn off the screen, this seems to be the most efficient way of doing it I've found so far. There needs to be a shortcut button on the remote!

  26. Updated: Download SDK Before you download the SDK, check that you meet the system requirements. Download the installer and/or the SDK package for your computer OS. If you choose to install the SDK with a network installer, you do not need to download the SDK package file. The network installer will do the job for you. 28. The Spotify app may not be available on some LG TVs due to compatibility issues. The Spotify app is only compatible with LG smart TV models from 2016 or later, all of which run LG’s webOS. If you have an older model, such as the LG TV LF630V, which is from 2014, the Spotify app may not be supported. In such cases, it's recommended to consider alternative methods to play Spotify on your TV, such as using AudKit Spotify Music Converter, Google Chromecast or Apple AirPlay. Additionally, ensuring that your TV's firmware is updated and that it is connected to a compatible network may help resolve the issue. If the app is not available, it's advisable to explore other devices for streaming Spotify content.

  30. Wesley, hi! Thanks for responding so far. Do you have a higher end set, and/or a newer one? I have a 2019 LG-43UK6500AUA (smaller, lower end), which has no auto-connect related to Bluetooth. Even if my Bluetooth headphones are powered on before the TV is powered on, I am still prompted with a connection approval request once the TV recognizes the headphones as a previously paired device. So, if I used the set-top box's remote to power on the TV, I sill have to keep the TV remote at hand to answer the prompt. Of course, the default answer is 'no', not 'yes', so I cannot simply press the 'OK' button, but am forced to navigate first.

  33. The Gallery application is nice but it does not compare with the Samsung Frame offering and that's too bad because LG could through software be quite competitive. One place to start would be to look at the Art Legacy+ and associated applications available from a small company called Landka. I've displayed from an iPad their 100+ classic images. Each image is panned slightly during display so there is no danger of burn in. Images can persist for up to 60 seconds (would rather see up to 10 minutes). The cost is minimal. LG could look into licensing this app or doing something similar. The app itself could also use a couple of improvements: 1) an optional virtual frame such as is offered by Samsung Frame and 2) changing the background color of the TV where the image does not display (for example a vertically-oriented piece of art) to be much more like a matte around a photo. I'm running Legacy+ on my LGTV daily. It really improves the room and adds a lot of value to the TV.

  34. We just purchased a new LG WebOS TV OLED 65" and running the setup through the app or the TV remote says it can't load the user agreement. This is blocking us from getting to streaming apps like Nexflix or any smart functions like Voice assistant. TV worked fine for a few days but voice assistant stopped working and after much effort LG tech said to Reset to Initial Settings. Now we have mentioned no smart functions. TV is on ethernet and its browser functions on web fine. Tried running off neighbor's wifi with same results. Tried switching to different country, unplugging/hold power button for 20 seconds/wait one minute, resetting TV multiple times, setting up remote again, ... Error message: Unable to Load User Agreements A server error has occurred while downloading the User Agreements. You must download and agree to the terms of the User Agreements to use this feature or application. Do you want to try to download them again… Unable to Load User Agreements Sorry, but the User Agreements can't be downloaded at this time…Please check your internet connection and try again later. No change when trying over five days. Now there is no local company available to service TV. Maybe it's time to send it back and give LG TV a one star rating. I am willing to change motherboards but doubt if LG would go along with that. Anyone have any ideas.

  37. Wow. There's a lot here. Let me try and help you - but remember I'm just an LG customer like you - I work in the tech industry, but I'm not LG or ITV so I can only tell you what I know as a customer. The info I have comes from the @ITVxHelp Twitter feed. They reply very quickly if you wanted to try talking to them, but I warn you, they don't know a lot either! First - the good news - ITVx has started to roll out to LG TVs. I got my update this morning. The bad news is that it isn't working properly! I've reported it to them and we'll see what happens. In terms of the wider point - "Smart" simply means it has an internet connection and can run apps. What apps are available has nothing to do with LG - they offer their platform (WebOS) to developers, but what actually gets offered on this, or any TV is entirely up to them. Browse through this forum and you'll find lots of "where is this" and "why is this" posts. The bottom line is that ITVx is available to devices that support it - that doesn't mean they have to make it available to every TV and every device, and it doesn't mean that they have to get it to all platforms on time - there are a lot of other devices that either don't have ITVx yet, won't ever get it, or have it and it''s not working properly - it has been an undeniably shoddy roll out. The reality is that no TV or smart device has every app - and there's nothing you can do about that. Some are better than others and unfortunately, many developers don't offer LG apps, or make them last of all. LG is far from the best - but it's also not the worse - a lot of cheaper TVs don't have Disney+, for example, and that's been out for two years. Humax doesn't offer Netflix on its flagship set top box. That's just how it is, and there's no one TV or device that will get everything. As more and more streaming services come online this is only going to get worse. The thing about VPNs, specifically, is that they offer you a chance to watch stuff that shouldn't be officially available to you. Broadcasters and streaming services pay huge amounts of money for the rights to programmes, country by country, and therefore watching them from another country is a legal grey area. It would be lovely if LG offered VPN support, but VPNs are not a right either - in fact they're actually banned in many countries altogether. (For the record, I use a second router with a VPN built in and point my devices at that). The key thing to remember is that you don't have the right to anything - it's only false advertising if they specifically say "we offer this specific service or feature, on this model of TV" and then don't. The truth is that Smart TVs will never be as flexible as standalone devices like streaming sticks and computers. There are better options than LG for the sort of thing you want to do - especially as LG generally stop updating firmware after a couple of years - but just because something exists, it doesn't mean you'll get it and that's true of all devices, not just LG - and it's only going to get worse. I find it bonkers that we can't get Paramount+ on our TVs yet - but that's up to Paramount, not LG. I'm sorry if you feel you're stuck with a TV that doesn't meet your needs - look at other posts, you're very much not alone, it's the reason most people are here - but we live in an age where the TV landscape is changing all the time. Really, for the flexibility you want, you'd be better off with a separate device (FYI not a Roku - they don't support VPNs either!). I know that's not what you want to hear, but that's where we are and I don't think, from what you say, you'd be entirely happy with a Samsung, Sony or HiSense TV either - they all have their drawbacks and missing services. I hope I've been of some help explaining. I regret buying LG too, but I can''t afford to rush out and buy another model either so I'm trying to make the best of it. On the plus side, at least it looks like the wait for ITVx is nearly over!

  40. I have LG TV UF6800. TV is working well. The youtube app had worked well until a couple month ago. The yoyube hangs very often after playing advertisement. It also hangs after playing a long video (around 30 min). By "hangs" I mean it is still there, showing the youtube UI, but we cannot play any video. Just black, staying there forever. I am using wired network on the TV. I tried updating app, nothing. I googled and tried unpluging power while watching...., no help. BTW the youtube (with the same user) works well on PC and iPad. If you think this is not LG's problem, please advise to whom I should contact. Bogang Tian

  41. I want to apologize for my apparent frustration. You are clearly trying to help. My frustration is with LG. Apparently LG is not consistent with their firmware across models. This one doesn’t have that option and on latest software update. And based on the date of the first post for this issue it has been a problem for some time. But at least it looks like they have fixed it in some models or some regions. So there is hope they will expand that fix.

  42. First modem that worked was ZyXEL C1100z and second C3000z--Both with Century Link. I did continue to have some lost smart functions like voice assistant but then changed TV DNS setting to 8.8.8.8 and restarted C3000z modem/router and TV is working perfectly including LG TV Alexa or Voice Assistant functions to control TV (pressing buttons on remote) and Sonos Beam soundbar (previously renamed Sonos room to Garden to avoid confusion). To turn TV ON I say: Alexa Turn On Garden and OFF: Alexa, Turn OFF Garden--all without pressing LG OLED C1 assistant or Alexa buttons. Alexa Volume UP, Play Music, ...all work through Sonos Beam (hands free). All Devices and Groups were removed on Alexa alexa.amazon.com before setting up Sonos Beam or LG Alexa , Skills through alexa.amazon were added before Alexa setup were both LG Thinq and Sonos. OLED C1 does not have external mic so Voice Assistant or Alexa assistant buttons must be pressed for TV to hear. Since Sonos Beam also has Alexa when pressing TV buttons I do not say Alexa.

If it isn't fixed promptly I'm definitely going to think twice about trusting them for the next TV if I can't rely on a very common set up working, can't choose to roll back updates on my own tv, and has more adverts in the newer UI. It's not like somebody else changed anything either. This was LG pushing an Advertising based update and breaking a useful feature in the process. The update they've pushed hasn't fixed it and they don't allow me to fix it myself with their own proven to work software..

  45. Also, consider using an eArc setup where all your video sources go right into the TV and the TV sends the audio via one cable to your receiver. Both receiver and TV must support eArc. I did it and now LG can’t mess with me!

  47. The current setting is definitely horrible and not working correctly. Screensaver should *NOT* come on when I have apps running like Spotify or Netflix. Like Dave, I don't want to have to keep pushing buttons to follow along with what songs are playing and what lyrics the songs have. I get that it is burn in protection, but I paid good money for this TV and I prefer for it to work the way I want it to and disable any "protective" features if I don't want them, rather than be forced to stare at a black screen with a few dots pretending to be "fireworks".
