lg TV quick settings; edit and add new item to quick settings

Question

Posted

It is easy to add a new item to the quick settings side menu on an lg c2, as long as the item you want is shown on the list presented when you choose  the + add item.  If you want to add a "shortcut" to an item that is not on the list then how can that be done.  Is it possible to edit the list presented?

Specifically I want to add a shortcut to "subtitles on" which is buried deep in accessibility settings,  there nothing on the list of options presented to allow this.

As a partially deaf person who relies on subtitles, this would be a useful addition

There is a way around this problem(ie digging through various menu layers to turn off subtitles) but it needs a different remote which can "learn" and save a series of keystrokes (often called "macros") to achieve this with one button press.  The only ones I know of are the "one for all" remotes.  Easy to find using google search.

But it would be better if LG would reprogram their own remotes to make it unnecessary to add yet another remote.

Actually the universal remote/ macro option doesn’t work.  On my LG c2 it takes 30 keypresses to turn subtitles on, and another 4 using exit to return to the main screen.  And later another 30 plus 4 to turn them off again.  The universal remotes macro can only store a maximum of 15 key presses.

So great work lg.  Your tvs are terrific but the software to use then really sucks.  This really does need attention.
