As the new era of driving closes in, automakers are focusing more on the in-vehicle experience during development, especially the automotive display – the best way to unlock greater productivity and entertainment on the road. In this episode of Mobility Inside, we’ll unearth how the automotive display trend is changing for the better.
Automotive displays deliver useful information about interior and exterior conditions. They include the ‘Center Information Display’ (CID), which shows overall information, the ‘cluster,’ which displays the speedometer and engine status, and the ‘head-up display’ (HUD), which reflects information onto the windshield.
As cars become more autonomous in many features and functions, automotive display trends reshape to match new consumer demands. So, what do these futuristic dashboards do exactly?
Switching from one-way to two-way communication

In the past, cars would simply relay the traffic information necessary for driving via one-way communication. But as automotive displays advance, the driver, the vehicle and external devices are seamlessly exchanging more and more information.
Take your navigation app as an example of this in action. After inputting your destination, the system calculates the optimal route and ranks alternate ones based on traffic, which the driver can choose between based on their preference. In addition to traffic information, the vehicle’s temperature and external environment can be expressed, and the most recent displays even support voice, facial and gesture recognition technologies. In other words, it’s the new medium between the driver, vehicle and external elements that enables constant communication.

In 2022, we’re spoilt by all the live information we can view as we cruise. And in the not-so-distant future, cars will automatically provide information tailored to the driver through personal profiles, which means it works for shared cars too.
Cars will soon be able to identify the driver and passengers so that it can provide information based on their age or the time of day. For instance, someone on their way to the office could receive the latest business news, current road conditions or weather forecasts, whereas a high school student in uniform may be given info on popular textbooks, nearby restaurants or the week’s hottest songs. Like smartphones, automotive displays curate information, deliver smart experiences and even provide customized information on the go.

Since people process most external information visually, the latest automotive displays are digital to make checking information at a glance easier and have fewer physical buttons courtesy of a touch interface that ensures changing settings is safer and more convenient.

Automotive displays are quickly becoming the centerpiece of the interior, largely because they act as a personal hub for all information and devices. That’s why applying materials and form factors that meet the needs of discerning consumers is more important than ever. Automotive displays use premium, high-quality materials for the elegant look that’s now all the rage. I have posted here before about how disappointed i am with the LG TV that i paid a lot of money for. About how the TV did not really do most of the things that i was led to believe that it could do before i purchased the TV. I ended up then paying extra for a TV box to actually get the TV to do what i was led to believe that the TV could do and how i effectively paid for a very expensive monitor.
Now 4 years after buying this TV and not actually using it much, maybe 3 - 4 hours each day, i turn on the TV and low and behold, there is another issue. This time the screen is very dim with the very low brightness, like the brightness setting is turned down to around 30 - 40%. After trying to change all the settings, including energy saving, turning off the TV and disconnecting it from the wall, waiting 15 minutes and turning it back on (yes that was advised) and resetting the TV back to the default factory settings, the screen is still very dark.
After searching around the internet, it looks like there is an issue with either the power supply to the TV (LED) or an issue with the backlights inside the TV not lighting up. So it looks like its now going to cost me at least another $100 plus to fix this already expensive TV after only a few years of very minor use.
I was hoping that there might be someone here that might have some information that i might have missed and that might help with this problem, i have pretty much tried most things but with no fix (changing the picture settings slightly change the brightness, but its totally washed out, or the colors are just nasty).

OK, so what does it take to have full Chromecast support in LG TVs (webOS)?
a. Either builtin support.
b. Via webOS app.
The goal / use is simple as any other Chromecast device / TV: be able to say to "hey Google, play this video/music from service-X to LG-TV".

I have an OLED smart TV and need to stream AMC through the browser as LG doesn't have the supported app. The problem is the fireworks screen saver keeps coming on every 60 seconds (don't know why since it's not a static screen) and there seems to be no way to disable it or set it for a longer period. Is there any other solution that doesn't require I sign up for additional streaming services to watch AMC? (In Australia).
About a month ago I switched from BT to Vodafone FTTP (Fibre) broadband (100Mbps)
Since then I've had buffering on my LG TV (55UM7610PLB). This is connected to the router by ethernet cable.
My first thoughts were to do with the internet connection, I checked and tested everything. Vodafone have also checked everything and Openreach have replaced the ONT. Still got the problem though.
So, I've turned to the TV. The LG chat and phone help were pretty low level and not at all helpful.
Google turned up a possible solution which involved resetting the location services and removing it's automatic status. This sort of worked. Watching UHD Frozen Planet 2 was bufferless. But the next day, watching ITV hub was worse than ever.
You would have thought with an 100Mbps connection it would all work so well....but it doesn't.
Is it the TV?
Is there a fix?
Any ideas much appreciated.
