My New HP Touchpad 16GB

Recommended Posts

I finally received my Touchpad in the mail after the 6-8 weeks I had to wait. It's charging now. I set it ll up and downloaded some apps. Wish there were more ofcourse...

Since there is no gesture area, one thing I hate is the no "Back" gesture. How to you go back in an app?

I tried skype, works pretty well.

TCL is resurrecting the Palm brand with a brand-new Palm, Inc. based in California. As we reported last week,
link hidden, please login to view late last year, although at the time it wasn't clear what the company had planned. It's not at all clear what TCL intends to do with the Palm brand, although they seem to recognize the history that the brand carries. Says TCL:

Palm has always carried a lot of affect and emotions. That's why TCL has set the direction to rebuild the brand involving Palm's very own community, making it the largest scale crowd-sourced project ever seen in the industry.
Where TCL's Alcatel Onetouch has long produced
link hidden, please login to view, and it seems that TCL wants Palm to be a division that produces "a more-advanced device", with "breakthrough innovations" across the hardware, software, and even sales models. TCL's full weight will be behind Palm, touting 5000 engineers and 7 research-and-development centers around the world. When we'll see more from TCL and Palm isn't clear, but we do know one thing: Palm is coming back.

link hidden, please login to view, with Palm being founded as an independent company in 1992, being bought by US Robotics in 1995, and then 3Com in 1996, being spun off in 2000, split in half in 2002 and renamed PalmOne, merged with Handspring in 2003, rebranding as Palm, launching webOS in 2009, selling to HP in 2010, getting canceled in 2011, webOS getting open sourced in 2012, and the remnants of the Palm company (minus the branding) being sold to LG in 2013. It's rare that a company receives a second life as Palm did, and rarer still to be revived after being left for dead. Regardless, the Palm brand carries a lot of emotion for many, so it's good to see it coming back and we hope TCL produces a phone that's worthy of the name Palm.

      Hi there,.
It is now clear that any  OS, except android and apple,  suffers from low number of apps.
It is a shame to struggle with a 'named smart tv' to run a Web site or find a commonly used app!

Ok! We are stuck with this rubbish OS (bad OS due to the poor App stoee) , why LG doesn't develop an adapter to run android TV apps on the TV? Maybe after testing them, you can allow certain famous apps. Moreover, why don't they provide an easy porting tool for the developer?
Anyway, if they don't do this, I would advise any one to buy an android TV and ignore the useless OSs such as Tiazen or Webos.
      Regards,

Here's an email I recieved from HP..
Important information regarding your HP TouchPad order
      _____________________________________________________________________
HP Small and Medium Business Customer,
Thank you for your interest in webOS and the HP TouchPad -- the
response to our price reduction has been overwhelming -- both in
terms of volume and in the energy and enthusiasm it has generated in
      our customers.
It has taken us longer than anticipated to work through the high
volume of orders that were received. We apologize for any
uncertainty this caused, but we are now in a position to understand
our ability to fulfill your order.
Your order will be fulfilled at the discounted price. However, we
do not have enough stock to satisfy your order at this time. It will
take 6-8 weeks to build enough HP TouchPads to meet our current
commitments, during which time your order will then ship from this
stock with free ground shipping. You will receive a shipping
notification with tracking number once your order has shipped. We
apologize that these timelines are longer than indicated on the
      website at time of purchase.
At the significantly reduced price, the HP TouchPad does not
qualify for our standard 30 day return policy and is not returnable.
If this delay is not acceptable, please send an email to
[email protected] with your instructions for cancellation within
a week. Be sure to include your HP order number and the name and
ship-to address on the order. Also please indicate clearly if this is
the only order requiring cancellation or if you wish all orders in
your name to be canceled. You will receive an automated cancel
notification when your order cancellation request has been
processed. Please be aware, however, that cancellations cannot be
reversed, and our US SMB store has sold out of HP TouchPad and will
not make any further available for sale.
We are pleased that we will be able to fulfill your order and look
forward to you joining the exciting community of webOS!
      Sincerely,
Your HP Small and Medium Business Team

HP TouchPad for the cheap price of $150 compared to the regular $500 - $600 price range. If you are not aware HP has discontinued this tablet and is attempting to sell off all of its stock at a cheap price.
