Try to manufacture 'smart tv's' with sufficient memory to actually run the WebOS apps you claim they can run without those apps crashing with 'out of memory....' errors. This has plagued LG TV's for years and LG still do nothing about it. Memory modules are really low cost items and 32Gb  would be a minimum. This might also negate the necessity of having to use separate USB Hard Disk for basic recording and time machine functionality to work something other smart TV manufacturers managed to achieve years ago.

Just got off the phone to lg support. I was told the web browser shuts down when attempting to stream video ON PURPOSE! Furthermore, once you stream anything from the internet, the cache fills up, does not clear, and prevents the installed apps from functioning properly.  I was told that the OS is a web browser NOT a web streaming service and if they allow customers access to stream video they will be in breach of their contractual agreement to the companies who have apps on the TV. This clearly doesn't happen on tablets or phones, so their logic for creating a sub par product is utter bollocks. I specifically asked the salesman if I could stream video from the internet and was told absolutely yes. When I pointed this out to Lg customer service they re-iterated that a web browser does not confer the ability to stream video. This is misleading the customer, and effectively censoring and filtering internet content.  This must stop!

      Hi there,

I have an LG smart TV OLED65G36LA (LG OS v03.20.17, webOS TV version 8.20.0-710) , and the Prime Video App was no longer able to update (from Dec 2025) and therefore could no longer be used.
I have tried uninstalling the app and re-installing, and that was unable to work, so then applied a full reset on the LG TV and so had to reinstall all of my other apps (Apple TV, Netflix, etc etc) which all successfully downloaded so confirmed network connections and setup are all confirmed working.
When I try to download the Prime Video app, it remains stuck on the download screen and is unable to update.
      Thanks

Why does YouTube keep 'restarting now to free up memory' and how do I fix this very annoying bug in the WebOS or TV?
Thanks everyone for your suggestions, answers. Tend to agree with Petevick as I usually don't have any other 'apps' running in the background to take up the very limited memory. Have contacted LG support via clunky email page and had one reply so far which also said to check for open apps or - wait for this - if it only happens with YouTube 'app' then it is their problem and I should contact YouTube for a fix!
Not very helpful, ignores the many consumers with similar issue and gives no indication of a future firmware fix.
Looks like LG are another 'couldn't care less' TV manufacturer selling overpriced TV's on the back of 'Smart' features that don't work properly and are unlikely to be kept up to date.
Will remember this next time I need a new set.

Just bought a LG C5 Oled TV. I'm getting this error message randomly when i'm watching netflix. App will now restart to free up memory.

And yes ...  unplugging my tv and deleting apps is NOT a fix.
      You are incompetent corporate scum.
      I'm never buying LG again.
