Just bought an LG 55UB9500, highly disappointed

Question

Hello all,

Longtime Samsung user here.  Got a really good deal on the 55UB9500 so decided to give it a try.  First, beautiful set, great picture but OS SUCKS!  Either I am doing something wrong, or LG got it wrong. I have the set directly connected via ethernet. VERY fast internet (300 plus GB/S) I have constant issues with Pandora and Netflix.  First it was pandora, it would start and play, then I would get some sort of error.  Then it would play, and have these huge delays between songs.  Very disappointing.  Then Netflix. At first it seemed to work okay. I thought it took a LONG time for it to load a movie. It would hurry up to the 25% mark and then sit there for about a minute.  Now, half the time I get errors that they cannot play this selection at this time. Then I get the movie to play and it will play for about five minutes and do the same thing.

I went to the web and searched and found that people have deleted Netflix and started over. I can't even get that to work. When I follow the directions, going to settings/Network/Web OS apps (or what ever it's called) I get a screen about unlinking my devices or something like that and cannot get to the actual apps.  I then did the up up up left right left thing to get to the log off menu and did that. logged back in but same thing.. I tried last night for over half an hour to get Netflix to work until I finally ran out of patience.  I never had issues like this with any of my Samsung Tv's and not beginning to think I made a mistake but hope not. I love the TV otherwise.  I am hoping that perhaps the OS 2.0 might fix it?  That is of course if that ever happens.

If anyone else has had issues like this and has figured out a way to fix it, please share that with me.  I keep going over to Amazon.com, and looking at the Roku 4 but I really don't want to have to buy that, after just buying this new TV that's supposed to do all this for me. Plus I have read that people are having trouble with the Roku 4 and some LG tv's...Sigh..

Thanks, and sorry for the rant.

Cheers,

John

Well I can tell you that after some time you will give up on using WebOS, the OS is very unstable and useless! I have bought cheep laptop and connect to my TV so I can have "smart" TV. Since the day I have purchased the TV until now the TV have received two updates but again I can say this is the most useless device I have evet purchased in my life. To be clear I don't talk here about using the TV as a TV the picture quality, 3D, magic remote and all other TV futures are totally OK.

I have the same set but haven't had any problems with netflix, youtube, or 3dnow.  Those are really the only apps I use though.  The interface is definitely a little hitchy at times though.  Like you said, I hope the WebOS 2.0 upgrade will fix that if it ever comes.  3DNow will only stream 5.1 surround in WebOS 2.0 for some reason.  Netflix does 5.1 fine.

On a side note have you use the 3D much?  I've noticed that I really have to be seated at the vertical sweet spot to limit the 3D 'ghosting'.  Sitting up or leaning down affects the convergence greatly.  I have another passive set, a Panasonic 1080p, that I've always been impressed with regarding the ghosting.  One of the big reasons I got this 4k set was to have passive 3D in full 1080 (since passive will half the resolution of the tv in 3D) but the ghosting is disappointing.

Well I fixed it. Reset the damn thing to factory defaults and that seems to have cleared up the issue.  Everything works great now (except now I have to redo my calibration).  As for the 3D, We've only played with it a bit but it works really well. Of course our two chairs sit pretty much right in front of it.  I didn't notice any ghosting.  We never even opened the glasses that came with it. We used some we had from our last go to the theatre movie.

Cheers!

I have also noticed that the 3D "sweet spot" it fairly small, but still large enough not to be an issue. If I stand up then the 3D picture gets bad ghosting, but as long as I'm sitting down it looks great. It definitely helps to have a TV mount for the wall that tilts so you can angle it just right.

As for the OS I haven't had any issues. We use Netflix and 3DGO almost exclusively and they both work quickly and the picture quality on both is great.

LG Gaming Portal – Exclusive Track Available at Launch

SEOUL, Oct. 30, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) and Ubisoft are collaborating for the upcoming launch of one of the most popular music-based dance video game, Just Dance Now, on LG Smart TVs. The official trailer will debut at Paris Games Week 2025, with service availability starting sequentially from December 2025 through LG Gaming Portal in North America and Europe.* This collaboration will let LG Smart TV owners in supported markets dance along to their favorite Just Dance routines – no console required.
With over 135 million players worldwide, Just Dance Now offers dynamic choreography of hundreds of songs. LG Smart TVs running webOS 22 or later will provide easy access to this extensive library. To celebrate the launch, LG TV users will enjoy exclusive access to a limited-time Just Dance map featuring Money Pull Up, a viral track with tens of millions of streams worldwide.
LG Smart TV users will be able to play for free Just Dance Now for a limited time each day, providing a chance to experience the fun of dancing along to popular tracks on their TVs. Those who wish to keep playing can extend their access with a subscription or by purchasing song packs.
Players can enjoy countless hours of dancing with friends and family by simply using the LG Magic Remote, without the need for additional controllers or a gaming console. With motion-sensing technology, the LG Magic Remote can accurately capture each movement, reflecting the motions on screen for a smooth and responsive experience.
“Our collaboration with LG Electronics is a great way for more people to play Just Dance Now through the LG webOS smart TV platform,” said Amelie Louvet, Just Dance Brand Director, Ubisoft Paris Studio. “With Just Dance Now, LG Smart TVs are now a dynamic space for families and friends to turn their living room into a dancefloor and move to the world’s biggest hits.”
“We are committed to evolving the LG Gaming Portal into the ultimate gaming destination,” said Chris Jo, head of the webOS Platform Business Center at the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company. “By working with leading partners like Ubisoft, we are continuously expanding our selection of game titles and advanced features to offer a variety of immersive gaming experiences on LG Smart TVs.”
Just Dance Now app will have an early debut in beta version ahead of launch in select markets including France, allowing users to sample three songs on the first day, followed by one song daily, during a two-week beta trial.

As above! All4 & My5 will no longer work. Also, how do you update the browser? My LG nano TV is just over 3 years old.

Our LG TV was just updated with the latest software - before when the TV was turned on it was set to the previous input (one of the HDMIs).   Now it appears to be sent to the Home Dashboard and I have to manually change it to the desired HDMI input.    Does anyone know how to fix this?    Thanks!
