Plex unusable on webos

Question

Posted

Is it just me or is the plex app just unusable on webos.  When I try to select dvr items with the magic remote they just don’t play.  I am not sure if this is a plex issue or an lg webos issue.  Anyone know which it is?

Hi @Lgrump

I suppose it is going to be a Plex issue as they produce the app, I know users not just on LG but other platforms as well who have had issues .  If you are prepared to try something else then have a look at Emby,  I have been using it instead of Plex for about a year now and have found it stable and an excellent replacement for Plex.

What issues are you having. Plex server runs on in my Mac and works flawlessly with my webos tv... No issues whatsoever.... Even streaming large uhd / 8k media is perfect.

I would encourage you to read the Plex data base and fine tune your server.. It should work great!

Otherwise try to get lg to replace the remote.

The problem is in the plex client that is specific to lg on web os.  I think I already posted the exact version number on the plex forums.  Works fine on roku but the plex client version specific to lg prevents you from using the plex pass dvr function. Everything else works fine.   I smell a rat.

I am running the plex media server on ubuntu 22.04 and have an external drive formatted as ntfs where the media is stored.  I have a hd homerun quatro where I record digital hd unencrypted signals coming from local  stations via a hd antenna.  Its not a plex server issue.  Its a plex lg client issue.

Will the title of the remark is misleading "Plex is unusable". Plex send very usable with one function disabled or not working.

If it is a Plex issue, ask Plex to resolve it. If you are a Plex Pass user they will reply to you quickly.

It may be a localised DRM issue but mine works fine

      Hey guys !!!
I have a UHD UJ634v  LG webos Tv  that lately an error message pops on the screen staying : Tv signal has been lost due to the satellite LNB short.Check LNB connection"
This is really getting on my nerves because I can't get any signal even after resetting the TV or even updating to the last  software version.
I check my cable line and fixed every possible problem. The error message keeps showing up even after disconnecting cable line from the back of TV just as if a short circuit or something has happened inside the Tv.
Do you think that'd be software or hardware failure or something else??? How to fix it?
Please help me out with this cuz all my lovely satellite TV channels are gone 😐
Here is the actual error message on the right top o the screen
      Thanks in advance !!!

On our LG G1 OLED, when watching a program on Binge, the Binge app restarts itself every 20 minutes or so with a message about needing to restart to free up memory. Power-cycling the TV doesn't fix the problem, nor does running the "Memory Optimiser" function from system settings. None of the other streaming service apps we have on the TV have this problem - Prime Video, Stan, Netflix, Disney+, Britbox, ABC iView, SBS On Demand, Youtube. Those are the only other apps installed on the TV. I've checked the LG WebOS version and checked for app updates, and everything is latest version.
If I run the Binge Android app on my Chromecast with Google TV, it works without any problems when streaming the same programs.
