Being an environmentally conscious company means looking deep into all business processes and putting the utmost effort into transforming, both externally and internally, from the supply chain to the organizational culture. In other words, LG aims to be an environmentally sustainable business, calling for specific and tangible actions with the three environmental ESG initiatives outlined in its BETTER LIFE PLAN 2030.

The initiatives mark a paradigm shift towards adopting tangible, specific and measurable actions for a better, cleaner and greener environment. Part two of the Better Life story series, this article looks at the environmental action plans LG has established and the goals it is working hard to achieve.

(2.2 degrees Fahrenheit) since pre-industrial times. Responding to the urgency of climate change, LG remains steadfastly committed to attaining carbon neutrality, and to converting entirely to renewable energy in the long term. Its dedication to both goals can already be seen in the energy-efficient technologies applied at LG Smart Park in Changwon, South Korea.

Exercising immediate change for its carbon initiative, LG is converting to more efficient operational processes and applying energy-efficient technologies across all of its production plants. LG Smart Park, the company’s revolutionary production facility, deploys next-generation manufacturing innovations to simultaneously achieve higher production efficiency and enhanced sustainability. The manufacturing hub has increased productivity by 20 percent and reduced the cost of defective-product returns by 80 percent. Moreover, LG Smart Park has reduced greenhouse gas emissions and boosted energy efficiency per unit by 30 percent compared to the previous factory.

LG is looking to change the status quo of end-of-lifecycle management by using eco-friendly materials, streamlining manufacturing processes and turning discarded materials into ‘new’ resources, with the aim of creating a circular economy.

The reducing, recovering, recycling and reusing of materials are all very important in a circular economy. LG operates a free e-waste retrieval service in 52 countries and aims to collect an accumulated total of over eight million tons of used appliances from 2006 to 2030. As for recycling, LG is improving its existing processes to achieve a higher recycling rate, with the end goal of hitting 95 percent by 2030. As part of this, the company’s Chilseo Recycling Center (CRC) situated in Hamyang, South Korea, plans to replace the compressor and old equipment by the latter half of the year. Furthermore, LG recently invited its employees to come together in the collective journey towards circularity by using fewer disposable paper cups at work.

A global leader in consumer electronics, LG is dedicated to helping consumers realize a more sustainable lifestyle. This is why the company is applying eco-friendly technologies to all newly developed products, contributing to a smaller carbon footprint and resource recirculation.

By 2030, LG plans to have reduced total carbon emissions from the product-usage stage by 20 percent. It also projects that, from 2021 to 2030, it will have used an accumulated total of six hundred thousand tons of recycled plastics in the production of new home appliances. In the future, the company will be able to offer products that are even more energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable than its current crop of models, helping consumers to reduce their monthly energy bills, achieve a more sustainable household and enjoy the best version of the Better Life LG aims to provide.

The company showcased how the recognisable Life’s Good slogan, first coined in Australia in 1999 as a reflection of the Aussie zest for life, inspires the next generation to embrace life with bravery.
LG collaborated with campaign ambassador and renowned musician turned athlete , whose journey embodies the characteristics of brave optimism, overcoming challenges and defying expectations. Ahead of the celebrations, Cody Simpson spoke with Channel 7 Sunrise and News Corporation about the campaign and his story of being an ambassador and approaching life with positivity, in a bid to carve his own path. Sunrise ran a week-long LG product giveaway with the LG StanbyME, LG TONE earbuds and LG gram – innovations that align with the wants and needs of young Australians.

Prior to his interview, Cody participated in an inspiring panel discussion at the Life’s Good with Optimism celebratory, hosted at LG’s new Australian office. Livestreamed from his training pool on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, Cody was joined by author and artist Emma Carey and LG Australia Marketing Director, Gemma Lemieux, for a discussion about optimism and positivity, facilitated by Australian media personality and Sunrise consumer correspondent Shaun White.

Discussing what is behind the campaign in Australia with Gemma Lemieux, Cody and Emma shared pivotal moments where embracing optimism set them on a path to lead better lives. Media, influencers and LG Australia employees around the country listened to the panel both in person and virtually, where Cody shared more about his late-in-life career change, while Emma talked about her journey of learning to walk again after falling 14,000 feet (about half the height of Mount Everest) in a skydiving accident.
Meanwhile, a Life’s Good reporter circled the local Parramatta area and the LG office interviewing consumers and employees on camera to better understand and uncover what locally are the sources of happiness and optimism for the future.

The Life’s Good with Optimism campaign was not complete without celebrating LG Australia’s employees. Upon arrival to the office, each staff member was greeted with a heart-shaped cookie and at their desk, a red candy apple awaited featuring an optimism affirmation and a red heart-shaped balloon.

In a bid to reiterate the brand-love employees have for LG, they were invited to complete the ‘Optimism Tour’, taking part in a series of activities for their chance to win prizes. From playing giant jenga and shooting a hole-in-one at mini putt-putt to capturing a photo for the ‘Life’s Good Mosaic Mural’ and taking on a colleague in a game of ping-pong, employees had the chance to let their hair down and truly experience Life’s Good.

From horses and carriages to cars, airplanes, and now drones and hyperloops, innovations in transportation have consistently reshaped human life, making it easier for people to live life on the go. Meanwhile, the rise of OTT platforms has given people the freedom to watch their favorite content at their convenience, anytime and anywhere. However, limitations persisted in terms of screen devices that wouldn’t allow content to be consumed wherever one may desire, until the debut of the LG StanbyME and LG StanbyME Go.
The StanbyME lineup began with an experimental question posed by a designer at LG’s HE Design Lab: “What if my TV could move to wherever I am, whenever I want to watch it?” This was the moment of curiosity that sparked innovation, transforming and reimagining the TV experience.
From the outset, the designs of the two Lifestyle Screens had to be different, as the LG HE Design Lab team was given the challenge to conceptualize a screen that could be ‘on the go.’ Deviating from the traditional TV design, the team created a product with no complex components visible on the back, featuring a simple frame and minimalist edge stand to maximize space utilization and deliver flexibility that blends into any composition.

With the appearance and functionality of a carry bag, the StanbyME Go is purposefully designed to withstand shock, vibration and chemical reactions, providing unparalleled portability and durability. For a heightened experience with better interaction, the display movement intends to closely match the user’s posture.

Traditionally, portability has not been closely associated with TV products, but LG sought to pioneer versatile lifestyle screens that expand the role of TVs far beyond image broadcasting. The StanbyME and StanbyME Go are companions for everyday life; they can transform into recipe books when cooking in the kitchen, sheet music when playing the piano, and small outdoor movie theaters when camping, reimagining the way users engage with TVs.
When selecting which TV to purchase, the foremost consideration should be how well it fits into your space. With the ability to easily change their location, the StanbyME and StanbyME Go stand out as exceptional choices to set the ideal mood in any space.

Unlocking new possibilities for creating unique mood and experiences, the StanbyME and StanbyME Go offer portability that allows users to carry or position them wherever they desire. Enjoy a movie night in your cozy bedroom, soft music on the terrace of your home café, a workout in your home gym or a celebration message in a party room. With unbounded imagination, the possibilities are endless.

However, why limit your TV experience to the indoors? The StanbyME Go has created new on-the-go entertainment opportunities for outdoor use with its great portability and versatility. The StanbyME Go can serve as a digital campfire for relaxed downtime or transform into a lively board game hub during family road trips. Featuring a turntable skin that enables users to immerse themselves in music and create a relaxing mood on the beach, this all-round lifestyle screen ensures hours of enjoyable entertainment for all.

I have a problem with my LG 43NANO756PR: if an app is paused (for example a youtube video or music track is put in pause), after about two minutes the TV goes back to the TV antenna input. Very unpleasant if you are on the phone and need a quiet environment. Same thing if I mute the audio: after about 2 minutes the volume resumes as before.
Any way to sort this issue?

Have you ever been frustrated trying to find the best location for your TV in your living room? Should it be on this side of the wall or the other? In heavily populated cities like Seoul, South Korea, where many live in apartments, it’s very often the case that a TV is placed on a media console in front of a living room wall to free up more space. This, however, can be an eyesore to those who want to decorate their room differently or just simply dislike having a black screen and cable clutter all open to view. These were some of the annoyances and inconveniences LG aimed to address with its Lifestyle Screens.

LG OLED Objet Collection TVs seek to blur the line between state-of-the-art home appliances and designer furnishings. They boast a modern, minimalist design language that focuses on elevating and blending in effortlessly to any indoor environment. As suggested by the word objet – a decorative object meant to be exhibited or open to view – the collection seeks to provide a compelling way for customers to express their unique tastes and personality.

In line with this concept, the LG OLED Objet Collection Posé was designed as a TV resembling a high-end furniture piece or art object, complementing the décor in any part of a room. The TV’s gently curved edges and muted, calming beige fabric finish is soft to the look and touch, adding a stylish charm to the room, wherever it is placed. It blends in particularly well with similar colored rugs, creating a cozy atmosphere. It wasn’t long before the aesthetically-pleasing design began to garner the attention of the people who were searching for ways to better meld the TV into their living room design.

Aesthetics, however, was not the sole focus in the development of Posé. The design process is actually said to have begun with trying to make a practical TV that can answer some of the difficulties that came with installing a TV. Then came the long and arduous deliberation into how the product should fit in the room – the most challenging job of making it blend in with the surroundings.

The result was a successful fusion of art, design and practicality. The LG OLED Objet Collection Posé offers a solution to the common challenges faced when integrating a TV into a living room, providing homeowners with a visually pleasing and functional option. With its elegant aesthetics and thoughtful features, Posé redefines the concept of a TV, transforming it into a statement piece that enhances the overall ambiance of any room.
