A user-friendly hub for content consumption, the modern smart TVs offer access to more movies, series, documentaries and live-streamed events than one can count. The downside to having such a wealth of content options so conveniently available is figuring out what to watch.

To help users discover great, new content, LG continues to streamline and expand the viewing experience on its market-leading smart TVs. The company’s webOS smart TV platform is constantly evolving, growing its capabilities while simultaneously simplifying users’ path to greater viewing enjoyment.

As part of these ongoing efforts, LG’s latest Smart TV models are the first to have an opted-in enhanced Prime Video experience, with easy access to personalized content suggestions available directly from the “Now Streaming” section on the LG TV home screen.

This means watching a favorite show on the global streaming service is as easy as turning on the TV and heading to the “Now Streaming” section using either voice command or the Magic Remote. In addition to watching a movie or show right where they left off, users can browse Prime Video’s content recommendations on screen without having to open the Prime Video app. These recommendations reflect relevant content based on their tastes and viewing history. The TV will show the last two watched titles and a list of personalized content users might enjoy from new shows, movies or live sports.

The time and hassle-saving enhancement rolled out globally with a recent software update for LG’s 2021/2022 model Smart TVs. These TV owners will be alerted to the availability of the Prime Video user-experience enhancement by a pop-up notification when launching the Prime Video app and they will be able to opt in or out on the Prime Video settings page.

Last week, LG headed to Munich, Germany, to take part in IAA Mobility 2023 – one of the world’s largest mobility events. Presenting at IAA Mobility for the first time, the company shared its vision for the in-vehicle experience of the future and proposed a highly advanced mobility ecosystem that will bring new value to the mobility industry and customers.

The nexus of LG’s auto-focused innovations, the LG Vehicle component Solutions (VS) Company has built a solid reputation over its ten years of existence, making a name for itself in five key areas of vehicle-related technologies: head units, displays, connectivity, ADAS and software.
The company is determined to improve the user experience in the vehicle space, and has the advantage of being able to draw on decades of insight from its consumer electronics businesses. LG is already enhancing the in-vehicle experience with breakthroughs including its digital cockpit technology, which boosts convenience and safety with its interactive displays and intuitive controls. The company is also promoting safety with in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) integrated features such as seamless smartphone connection and voice recognition; enabling drivers to use their devices without taking their eyes, or their focus, off the road.

To see what the future mobility experience envisioned by LG looks like, and explore the unprecedented level of personalization it is set to offer, check out the Mobility Labworks Series, accessible via LG’s official website and social media channels.
Themed Experience Future Mobility Your Way, LG’s Mobility Labworks Series introduces a range of cutting-edge technology concepts with the potential to reshape the way people experience travel. The series includes two distinct digital cockpit concepts – Alpha and Beta, along with three display kiosk concepts – Min & Max Display, Pop & Fold Display and Flex & Slide Display.

With the Min & Max Display, users get to adjust the size of the in-car display to suit their preferences. At any time, they can choose whether they want Minimum Display mode where essential driving information is provided, or Maximum display mode where full range of real-time information is available via a Pillar to Pillar P-OLED screen. Helping users make the most of their cabin space, the Pop & Fold Display only pops out when needed – storing neatly away for a more spacious interior when not in use. Lastly, the Flex & Slide Display offers increased flexibility as it can change its shape, curving and flexing to smoothly shift from a regular screen into a responsive touch interface.
The Mobility Labworks Series highlights LG’s aim to provide innovative technologies, in collaboration with carmakers, that help create better customer experiences for end-users. A trusted partner to global automobile brands, LG continues to leverage its advanced technological capabilities to supply its customers with high-performance, reliable products – delivered on time and completed to the highest standard possible.

“In the rapidly evolving automotive industry, where the latest trends revolve around CASE, or ‘Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric,’ LG has been leading the vehicle components sector,” said Alexio Rhee, head of Sales and Marketing Division at the LG VS Company. “With a decade of experience under our belts, and a wealth of knowledge and customer insight brought over from our diverse consumer electronics businesses, we have what it takes to drive future mobility innovation to a very exciting place, as demonstrated in our Mobility Labworks Series.”

Delivering the First Commercial Implementation of HCA Specification 1.0,
Company Expands Smart Home Ecosystem Through Partnerships With Other Brands

SEOUL, Aug. 29, 2023 — LG Electronics (LG) is set to present the first commercial implementation of the Home Connectivity Alliance’s HCA Specification 1.0, enabling cross-brand appliance connectivity through the LG ThinQ smart home platform. By the end of this year, consumers will be able to control appliances from diverse brands, such as Samsung and Vestel, with the intuitive-to-use ThinQ app, providing seamless interconnectivity and a smarter, more convenient home.
With a firm commitment to customer experience innovation, LG has joined with other brands to bring the elegant simplicity of cross-brand compatibility to major markets worldwide, including South Korea, the United States and Europe. The partnership will initially cover major appliance product categories, such as washing machines, dryers and dishwashers, and will gradually be expanded to other types of appliances in the future.
The widespread adoption of HCA Specification 1.0 to development makes it possible to monitor and control various brands’ home appliances and air solutions using a single application. With the ThinQ app, users just have to register their compatible products, and then they’re ready to enjoy the ease and time-saving freedom of one-stop device management. Those with an LG washing machine and a Samsung dishwasher in the home, for example, will no longer have to switch between each manufacturer’s app to set their preferred wash cycle and cleaning settings.
The arrival of true cross-brand interconnectivity is the realization of the HCA’s vision for a seamlessly unified smart home experience. Founded in January 2022 and comprising a number of smart home solutions manufacturers, the HCA aims to provide cloud-based interoperability between the smart home platforms of its member companies. As a board member of the alliance, LG has been working closely with other appliance makers, including Samsung and Vestel, to drive the adoption of HCA Specification 1.0, with the ultimate goal of enhancing user convenience.
Committed to expanding the smart home ecosystem, LG has also actively supported the work of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), a global organization dedicated to developing open communication protocols for smart home devices. LG contributed to the development and standardization of the Matter protocol, an Internet Protocol-based home IoT communications standard led by the CSA.
“LG ThinQ enables a seamlessly interconnected home appliance ecosystem that will provide new smart home experiences to customers around the globe,” said Jung Ki-hyun, executive vice president and head of platform business center. “LG will continue to expand compatibility between ThinQ and other HCA members’ smart home platforms.”
