Alexa controls everything on my lg thinq90 exept powering it on plz help

Recommended Posts

Hi Santy,

The way I control my Lg oled tv is from alexa linked to my Logitech Harmony Hub. Works pretty well since couple years: turn on lg-tv, set to cnn, volume up...

The way I assume you use it "thanks for the hint" might be from LG  ThinkQ Alexa skill link to your tv. So I just tried this and ot works even turn on tv. Bit there is an additional  setting on the lg menu I had to set for tv on off, with is Settings:general/turn on via Bluetooth.

Good luck and thanks letting know this easier way, Sly!

I have the same problem, but with Google home.  Everything else works - off, volume, channel selection, etc - just wont turn on. WIFI is set to stay on in the settings and enabled for the APP to turn it on.

It was fine a week or so ago, before a 5.10.25 software update.

Hi,  I have an LG 43UN71006LB with OS v4.50.53 (latest)

I want to buy a TV for my mother who has dementia & poor eyesight.

She needs to be able to control the TV with Alexa - i.e. voice only without having to hold a button on a remote down.
I thought I'd test this on my TV and it works very well.  I've even set "routines" on Alexa so that saying "Alexa, BBC 1" is a shortcut for "Alex, change the channel on LGTV to 101" etc.

But - it doesn't work for radio channels (channel 704 is BBC Radio 4):
"Alexa, change channel on LGTV to 101" - works perfectly (101 = BBC 1 - a TV channel)
"Alexa, change channel on LGTV to 705" - "that command doesn't work on device LGTV"

It basically won't work with any of the radio channels (700 to 790)
      Also tried:
"Alexa, change channel on LGTV to BBC RADIO 4" - "hmm - I don't know that"
"Alexa, play BBC Radio 4 on LGTV" - "I didn't find anything called LGTV that can play music"

I thought I'd try to change 704 to another channel outside of the 700 to 790 range but when I tried:
"The programme number cannot be edited between programme 700 to 790"

I tried playing the Radio on the Alexa then using Sound Share to turn the TV into a Bluetooth speaker - this works really well - except that I can't turn Sound Share on using Alexa:

"Alexa, enable Sound Share on LGTV"  - "that command doesn't work on device LGTV"

      Anyone have any ideas?

      Hi all,
If u all can check, alexa on my lg c2 oled 55 inch has stopped working sometimes it gives error like its unable to connect to server and now when i give commands to play or pause any music or video, it says it can not do it.
I have reset it multiple times it does not work.
Many users on alexa app skills for lg tv webos are also talking about the same, that means its not limited to me only

i have created an Alexa routine for my LG C2 Oled 55 inch TV which will play Youtube video at the end but somehow alexa is manage to do that but without audio, the video plays well but audio doesnt even if the TV is not on Mute... I had tried it many a times increasing decreasing volume but it does not work.
but when i say alexa again while the video is playing (without audio) then hit back button to close alexa prompt then suddenly the audio starts playing... so i suspect it has to do something with audio takeover by alexa, i dont know for sure plz suggest
