Adding Apple TV app to LG web os

Question

Could some one give me a step by step guide to installing Apple TV app?  I know that there are a lot of features on the LG web os, and I'm gradually finding my way around and trying to use Magic remote, but would be very grateful for a reply.  I'm 65 and I'm not that techy.  I long for the days when you would get a physical manual!  Thanks.

@philipworthington Is this a new LG TV? Please post the model you have, and what country you reside in, as not all countries have it yet.

I understood though, that the Apple TV APP was coming to new models this year, so if not pre-installed in the TV APP list already (along the bottom, scroll left and rigth to see what is there), look in the LG STORE, and scroll down to see if you can install it. You will need to set up an account of course, once you install it.

Thanks for your reply.  I live in London, UK.  The model LG we have is web os lm630bpla. We just bought it a couple of months ago.. As you suggested, I went to the LG store on TV, but there was no Apple app.  It's possible that we may have to wait for it's release here, so I will wait a bit.  I'll also try and contact LG here when I get time.  Thanks very much for your reply and I hope you and yours are well.

Regards ,

Philip

@philipworthington Glad to be of help, I always find useful info on here, and other users experience, and I often learn something new each time, so it is a useful forum.

From this link:

I saw this bit, and it seems that the premium OLED TV's might get the Apple TV APP first:

"LG TV customers can now enjoy Apple TV in addition to AirPlay 2 and HomeKit on all of LG’s 2019 OLED TVs, NanoCell TVs (series SM9X and SM8X) and later this month, the Apple TV app will roll out on select UHD TVs (series UM7X and UM6X). The Apple TV app and Apple TV+ will be available on 2020 TVs at launch and on LG’s 2018 TVs later this year via an over-the-air firmware upgrade."  NOTE: yours is a 2019 model

However, while waiting for it to arrive (ensure you have a good WiFi connection for firmware updates and app updates), see if this new "LG Channels" app is available (a partnership between LG and Xumo), as it might suffice in the meantime.

Check on the forum here to see if anyone knows what range of LG it is on (I cannot get it on my old 2014 model, but it MIGHT be available on yours now, being a current model)

I am having an issue with two of your tv's at my home with Apple HomeKit.  I have a 55 inch and 65 inch OLED C9 TV.  They are both compatible with HomeKit.  Originally when I installed the TV's I had all sorts of issues with Apple HomeKit. For the Last 2 months Apple HomeKit has been working perfect with them.  Now after a recent update to them via automatic updates, Apple HomeKit now has an issue viewing the tv on the HomeKit app remotely while the TV is OFF,  It shows "No Response" in HomeKit.  My TV's are hardwired via Ethernet cable.    There are 4 states in HomeKit that are recognized for the TV: - Viewing the tv on the HomeKit app locally on the network while the TV is ON (This works in HomeKit and shows the tv as turned on) - Viewing the tv on the HomeKit app locally on the network while the TV is OFF (This works in HomeKit and shows the tv as turned off) - Viewing the tv on the HomeKit app remotely while the TV is ON (This works in HomeKit and shows the tv as turned on) - Viewing the tv on the HomeKit app remotely while the TV is OFF (This DOES NOT work in HomeKit and the TV shows in HomeKit as "No Response")

I've tried reseting the TV's and doing all sorts of things. Nothing has worked.  I believe there is an issue with the latest firmware.

Hi all - just purchased a new OLED48CX6LB and looking to use the magic remote to control my sky plus box.   I’ve managed to figure out most controls with the exception of being able to set a programme to record from the planner (the equivalent of pressing R on the sky remote)
is there any way to do this ?
thanks in advance for any help

LG announced today in its press release that AppleTV+ is coming to LG webOS TVs. In 2020, a new Apple TV app will be released and customers with 2018 and 2019 LG webOS TVs will also be able to download the app:
LG’s award-winning webOS smart TV platform will bring 2020 LG OLED and LG NanoCell TVs a plethora of programming from the constantly-growing number of top global content providers through apps and services such as Disney+, Netflix and CBS All Access. New for 2020, the Apple TV app allows customers to subscribe and watch Apple TV+ and Apple TV channels as well as access their iTunes video library and buy or rent more than 100,000 films and TV shows. Customers with 2018 and 2019 LG TV models will also be able to enjoy the Apple TV app this year.

      Is this reported ?
The Remote ceases to - Mute & control sound volume, following any use of "Quick access" (long press on numbers)
Power off the TV - Power back on, returns function until "Quick access" is used again.
