LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2020 – LG Electronics (LG), the world leader in OLED TVs, is raising the bar again in 2020 with 14 new LG OLED models led by three new art-inspired GX Gallery series 4K Ultra HD TVs, 88- and 77-inch class Real 8K models and an all-new OLED screen size – 48-inch. Unveiled at CES® 2020, the new LG OLED TVs – and new 8K and 4K LG NanoCell LCD TVs – are designed to deliver stunning picture quality and innovative design with upgraded performance and artificial intelligence-enabled features that bring movies, sports and video games to life like never before imagined.

At the heart of the latest 8K and 4K LG OLED and 8K LG NanoCell TVs are a number of advanced core technologies, most notably the new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 3 AI Processor. This advanced processor leverages upgraded processing power and artificial intelligence deep learning algorithms to improve on LG’s renowned picture quality and enable a host of specialized features for various types of content including movies, games and sports, taking the user experience to new heights.

LG’s 2020 premium TVs flaunt unique, elegant designs that integrate effortlessly with any home decor. The all-new minimalist Gallery Series takes design to a whole different level with an ultra-thin form factor – the 65-inch model is a mere 20 millimeters (0.79 inches) thin. Paired with an included specially-designed wall mount, these 55-, 65- and 77-inch class models hang completely flush on the wall, providing a dramatic appearance, transforming the OLED into a piece of art.

The GX Gallery series 4K UHD models join the groundbreaking LG OLED WX Wallpaper series (razor-thin 77- and 65-inch models) and the LG SIGNATURE OLED R (model 65RX) to provide genuine space integration and an element of futuristic luxury, elevating their surroundings regardless of whether they’re turned on.

The 2020 LG OLED ZX Real 8K models, delivering four times more detail than 4K TV and 16 times more than HDTV, exceed the strict requirements established by the Consumer Technology Association’s (CTA) official industry definition for 8K Ultra HD TVs. The 88- and 77-inch LG OLED models also surpass the measurement criteria recommended by the International Committee for Display Metrology and are among the first to earn the new CTA 8K Ultra HD logo.

For 2020, while offering new versions of the two popular 4K UHD series (models CX, BX) in 77-, 65- and 55-inch class sizes, LG is also bringing the unparalleled picture quality of LG OLED TV to an all-new screen size – 48-inch. This 4K UHD unit (model OLED48CX) reproduces even sharper picture quality with 8 million-plus pixels on the 48-inch screen, density comparable to that of a 96-inch 8K TV.

The 2020 LG NanoCell TV lineup is highlighted by six Real 8K TV models (75- and 65-inch models in Nano99, Nano97 and Nano95 series), all exceeding the stringent requirements needed to display the official industry 8K UHD logo from CTA.

With stellar picture quality and newly added gaming features, LG’s 2020 TVs are ideal for serious gamers, delivering the most seamless, immersive big-screen gaming experiences available anywhere. As the first TV manufacturer to offer NVIDIA G-SYNC® Compatibility, LG is expanding this capability in 2020 to 12 OLED TVs to provide a flawless PC gaming experience without screen tearing or other distracting visual artifacts.

With unparalleled variable refresh rate and ultra-fast response time, LG OLED TV is considered the most advanced gaming TV on the market today. With the extremely low input lag of expensive desktop gaming monitors, detail-packed visuals of today’s games are simply jaw-dropping on LG OLED TVs. And the smoothness and responsiveness of controlling the onscreen action has to be experienced to be believed.

In another industry-first, 2020 LG OLED TVs feature the HDR Gaming Interest Group’s HGiG Mode so gamers can enjoy high quality visuals as game creators and developers intended when playing HDR games via consoles on their LG TVs. HGiG is a body made up of companies from the game and display industries that develops standards to improve the HDR gaming experience for consumers.

During intense gaming sessions, LG OLED TVs even help address eye fatigue. The Eye Comfort Display certification, from the trusted international testing lab TÜV Rheinland, verifies that LG OLED TVs offer adjustability for blue light content, are flicker-free, and provide exceptional image quality from any angle. LG OLED screens meet every TÜV testing criterion, including wide color gamut and HDR.

ULTIMATE SPORTS EXPERIENCE

Not only ideal for film buffs and gamers, LG OLED TVs are perfect for sports fans, too, offering exhilarating viewing experiences courtesy of the 120Hz response time – made possible by the new α9 Gen 3 AI Processor – and sports-centric features.

Sports Alert helps users to keep track of their favorite teams and schedules and notifying them as soon as a team scores. Users can select their favorite teams in various sports – soccer, football, baseball, etc. – to receive automatic updates at the start of a match, whenever a team scores and when the game ends.

Sports fans can also benefit from enhanced sound. Viewers can connect the TV to Bluetooth speakers to create a more dynamic soundscape to create a real stadium environment.

“LG’s vision to offer outstanding value to its customers comes to life this year with the company’s new line-up of art-inspired TVs,” said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Home Entertainment Company. “Beyond the unrivaled picture quality that LG’s premium TVs deliver, the new additions also come with the company’s advanced technologies, best in AI-integration and unrivalled, futuristic design made possible by OLED technology.”

LG OLED Brings Back the Works of Kim Whanki to New York in 50 Years
with Frieze New York and the Korean Cultural Center New York

SEOUL, May 3, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is delighted to present a unique opportunity to experience iconic works by the most beloved artist of South Korea, Kim Whanki (1913-1974), in partnership with Frieze New York and the Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY).
A solo presentation of Kim Whanki, “We Meet Again in New York,” will be on view at the LG OLED Lounge at Frieze New York 2024, from May 1 to 5. At the same time, a special exhibition of the Korean master at KCCNY titled “Whanki in New York” will be on view from May 2 to June 13. The two presentations together mark the first public showing of Kim’s works in New York, 50 years after his passing in 1974.
The Pioneer of Abstraction Finding His Voice in New York
Kim is a pioneer of Korean abstract art and best known for his works that epitomize archetypal Korean aesthetics. His artistic pilgrimage – from Korea to Japan, France and ultimately America – has shaped his signature style of pure lyrical abstraction derived from nature, which had a profound influence on generations of abstract painters in Korea. He has been a highly sought-after name in the art market as his works make up nine of the top ten highest-priced artworks by modern Korean artists sold at auction, among which all were completed in New York in his signature “all-over dot” style.
Presenting Kim’s works in New York holds immense significance because it was the city where he finally reached the epitome of his artistic identity with the conception of this unique “all-over dot” painting technique. It was the resulting mastery of the artist tirelessly experimenting with a multitude of materials, techniques and styles, aiming to achieve harmony in color and pattern while capturing the elegance of Asian ink paintings. He was inspired by memories from his homeland and the bustling New York art scene where he cavorted with American painters including Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman. In turn, he became an inspiration to the next generation of Korean American artists like Nam June Paik (1932-2006). New York was where Kim shot for the stars – he held a total of six solo exhibitions in the city in his lifetime with the last one presented a year before his passing in 1974.
LG OLED Continuing the Celebration of Kim Whanki’s Legacy
A total of five abstract masterpieces created during Kim Whanki’s New York period and digitally expressed by a new generation of artists today, will be on view at the LG OLED Lounge at Frieze New York 2024. The group of Korean multimedia artists – including Je Baak, professor at Seoul National University College of Fine Arts; Verseday, a media art creator group; Mano Ahn, CEO of Ahn Graphics; and Jason Kim, CEO of BESIGN – took tremendous care to understand the artist’s intention when he first created the artwork so that they could capture the essence of each piece. This approach revealed richer details and enhanced visual effects in lighting, colors and clarity enabled by LG’s self-lit OLED technology, while preserving Kim’s original artistic intentions. LG OLED, in its commitment to pushing art’s innovation and accessibility, is partnering with Frieze New York and KCCNY to bring these digital expressions of the legendary Korean master back to New York, the city that made the artist Kim Whanki.
The concurrent retrospective exhibition of Kim Whanki at KCCNY, “Whanki in New York,” where LG OLED engages as the Headline Partner, provides more opportunities to catch a glimpse into Kim’s creative world. In addition to the five digital expressions of his works shown by LG OLED, 27 original artworks on loan from the Whanki Museum, including personal items such as diaries, photographs and letters, will be on view. And for the very first time, private collections from New York acquaintances of Kim and his wife will also be on display.
“LG Electronics is proud to celebrate the legacy of Kim Whanki and present a unique opportunity for the global audience to engage closely with a legendary artist who has not been well known in New York until now,” says Kate Oh, vice president of the Brand Communication Division at the LG Home Entertainment Company. “Through our digital canvas, LG OLED and a new generation of artists have revived Kim’s artworks in unprecedented detail, offering an innovative tribute to his legacy.”
LG continues to deliver enriching art world experiences, illustrating the close connection between art and technology through inspiring exhibitions and innovative artist collaborations. The digital artworks brought to life by LG OLED can be found on the OLED Art project website for art enthusiasts and fans around the world to enjoy them at their convenience. Up until a few days ago my TV and AVR have been working perfectly since I bought it.
Zero hassles with HDMI and connectivity.
Then I was prompted to update to the latest software version which I did and now often when I switch HDMI (running on 1) it picks up the device name, CEC works but I get “No Signal”… and then nothing.
Just stays on “No Signal”. It is almost as if some HDMI handshake breaks and now the driver is in a broken state.
I’ve found that if I hard power off and power on the device sometimes works but I don’t want to do that every time especially since it’s hard to get to the power.
This really strikes me as a software issue with the latest update as absolutely nothing else has changed in my setup.
      I’ve tried:
Different HDMI cables (high quality) Deep colour settings Reset the TV to factory default Different HDMI ports TV
      Model: OLED65G26LA / OLED65G26LA.HFBQLWK WebOS TV Version: 8.3.0.2301 Software Version: 13.30.56 AVR & Devices
Marantz SR5015 Nvidia Shield Pro PS5
The setup is the conventional AVR installation as shown in the attached file

      Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it possible to revert the software update?

Dive into a thought-provoking expedition of artistic narratives with LG OLED and widely respected artist and filmmaker Sir John Akomfrah at the 60th International Art Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia 2024. Underscoring LG’s commitment to inspiring audiences and empowering artists, this collaboration with Akomfrah captivates visitors with an exemplary illustration of the fusion of art and technology.

“I’ve never had the chance to work with screens on a scale like this – more than sixty displays,” said Akomfrah, sharing his excitement and enthusiasm regarding the exhibition. “I’m truly delighted to collaborate with LG OLED to bring my artistic vision to life.”
Akomfrah’s artwork promises an immersive exploration of multifaceted topics from the historical portrayal of racialized bodies to species extinction, colonial narratives, urban rewilding, the auditory landscape of climate justice and the evolution of music. His evocative works serve as a manifesto for listening as a form of activism and explore postcolonial stories of how humans have adapted throughout history.

Akomfrah’s choice of LG OLED sets the stage for his boldest and most ambitious commission to date, ‘Listening All Night To The Rain,’ a contemplative digital art experience featuring audiovisual narratives from human history. The exhibition compels the audience to engage in an active relationship with the artwork, to look beyond the surface and truly listen to the message the artist aims to convey.

“The show is impossible without LG OLED because I cannot achieve the balance of light and color and proportions in this place in any other way,” Akomfrah explains as he describes the instrumental role of the display in the exhibition. “LG OLED allows for a certain kind of intimacy with my show in a way that couldn’t have been accomplished in another way.”
Comprised of both newly filmed and archival moving-image fragments, newsreel footage, audio and text pieces, the featured artwork adopts Akomfrah’s signature multi-layered ‘bricolage’ style, filling the exhibition space to create a richly immersive experience.

Showcasing his distinctive style, LG OLED exquisitely presents Akomfrah’s artwork through film, sound and time-based works across multiple OLED displays. Attendees are sure to be mesmerized by the realistic landscapes showcased as interlocking, multi-media installations and stand-alone displays.
He also notes that using LG OLED allows for more control over light and color than ever before. LG OLED ideally enhances the final ensemble of the installation; the image, sound and advanced audiovisual capabilities of LG OLED enrich the depth and realism of the artworks’ sensory elements, guiding viewers as they navigate through the visually stunning and intellectually stimulating experience.

“LG OLED is thrilled to collaborate with the esteemed artist, Sir John Akomfrah, who through the medium of video, evokes sincere emotions and communicates with the world,” says Kate Oh, vice president of the Brand Communication Division at LG Home Entertainment Company. “We are committed to supporting artists like Akomfrah who inspire and captivate audiences with a deep understanding of the intersection between art and technology. By continuing to partner with globally acclaimed artists, we aim to elevate LG OLED’s prominence and pioneer more achievements as the ultimate digital canvas that inspires the world of art.”

LG 2024 OLED evo TVs Demonstrate Company’s Dedication to
Sustainability and Highlight Premium Value of LG OLED TVs

SEOUL, Apr. 16, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) continues to receive recognition for its steadfast commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious practices. LG 2024 OLED evo TVs achieved Reducing CO21 and Measured CO22 certifications from the Carbon Trust3 and Environmentally Evaluated Mark4 from Société Générale de Surveillance SA (SGS), marking the fourth consecutive year of consistent acknowledgement for LG’s ESG initiatives. LG’s newest OLED TVs have also earned their second successive Recycled Content certification5, further demonstrating LG’s sense of environmental responsibility.
The Carbon Trust works to usher the globe into a future of zero carbon emission by assessing the environmental impact of a product’s entire life cycle, from production and distribution to use and disposal. SGS certification focuses on resource efficiency and the presence of hazardous substances, while Intertek measures the percentage of recycled materials used. The organizations’ respective approaches promote responsible consumption practices across diverse industries and contribute to the broader goal of sustainability worldwide.
Notably, the self-lit nature of LG OLED TVs garners significant attention in stringent sustainability evaluations. Unlike LCD TVs, LG OLED TVs do not require a backlight, meaning a simpler structure and fewer necessary components. For instance, LG’s 65-inch OLED evo, made of ultra-light composite fiber, requires only 40 percent of the plastic typically used in an LCD TV of the same size screen and weighs 20 percent less.
Based on the estimated sales of LG OLED TVs this year, the total amount of plastic used in LG OLED TVs from 2022 to 2024 is expected to be 45,000 tons lower than that of LCD TVs sold during the same period. The reduction in plastic usage will lead to a decrease in carbon emissions of approximately 234,000 tons a year, equivalent to the carbon dioxide absorbed by a 30-year-old pine forest. This number translates to one-third of the area of Seoul or about 31,000 soccer fields.
Recycled plastics account for about 20 percent of the plastic used in the manufacturing of all LG TVs, including OLED TVs, equal to around 4,000 tons of recycled waste plastic annually.
Beyond environmental activities, LG’s various ESG initiatives have received praise from reputable domestic and international organizations. In 2023, LG was named in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the twelfth year in a row. The DJSI World ranks in the top ten percent of the largest 2,500 global companies based on their long-term economic, environmental, social and governance practices. The company’s inclusion on this prestigious list for twelve consecutive years is a significant milestone, as LG is the sole South Korean company in the Leisure Equipment & Products and Consumer Electronics industry category to achieve this feat.
Furthermore, LG has received the ‘Comprehensive A grade’ from the ESG Evaluation and Rating Announcement of Korea ESG Standards Institute (KCGS) for three years running, and last year, the company earned its fourth back-to-back ‘A’ rating from the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) ESG Rating.
“LG OLED TVs lead the market as the ultimate choice for premium viewing experiences, while also going beyond to set the bar for ESG standards,” said Baik Seon-pill, leader of the LG Home Entertainment Company’s Product Planning Division. “LG will remain devoted to continuing efforts toward creating a better planet for all.”

      Hello,
I have a problem with my new LG OLED G2 newest version 4 firmware.
I tried sorting my satellite channels with chansort programm from github, because sorting them with the tv remote is a pain.
When I try to sort them with the remote and have selected about 10 or more channels all the selected channels get suddenly getting deselected, so I can only select up to 10 at a time  to
sort them -> must be some kind of firmwarebug?
After exporting the channellist to a usb stick then editing it with chansort an importing it back into the tv all my channels are gone, all transponderns are deleted.
First I thought it was a charsort problem but all channels and transponders get also deleted when I simply export them to a usb drive an import them back, without editing the file at all.
Does someone know how to fix this problem?
And yes I´ve done multiple factory resets -> did not fix any of this behaviour.
I also discoverd another bug the deletes all channels, because I needed to reboot the tv I searched for a reboot option in the tvs menu, but there is no reboot option.
To do a full reboot (except from forcing it through cutting the tvs power) you can deselect the privicy agreements, after that the tv reboots, but then all channels are gone too.
