Show Youtube app when power on

Question

Posted

How can I set Youtube (or a particular app) to be turned on by default upon power on?

Right now it's always showing regular tv at power on and since I don't sign up for cable, it's just the blank screen with noise which is super loud and annoying.

I also was wondering how to do this as I don't use any "regular" TV at all (I'm getting TV thru an app). Unfortunately I can't find George's link....!??!?

That will be as I forgot to paste it...

I can only get one thing a week correct, and obviously the previous post was not it.

Hi George, thanks for posting this link. I just bought a 2018 LG OLED55C8LLA but the WebOS version in my country (Germany) doesn't offer the same menu as seen on this video.

As Huy mentioned I wish there was some way to set preferences for my startup screen but I guess I'll have to deal with it because the TV itself is magnificent. I've been considering buying "regular TV" but I don't really like German TV so I'm loathe to pay extra for it.

I couldn't find a way to set Youtube as the default app on startups (And I don't think there's an option to do so), so I ended up just try tuning the live TV and because there is no cable available, now it shows a black screen with "No signal" text on it. This solved my problem, so I don't see the need to set Youtube as the default app. If I "cast" videos from the Youtube app on my phone, the TV will automatically switch to the Youtube app.

WebOS is just a useless pos that shouldn't have been made default to a premium product like this. (The C9) .

Many people use either apple TV or G-cast or Amazon sticks as default input on startup. These are far more superior than webOS.

I have noticed a problem with webOS, i have С4 OLED and G5 OLED - and all of them running videos on youtube at low 1080p or no higher that 1440p with 50/60p - and i don't understand why.. everywhere else is fine, but on webOS is 50/50 i tried every codec possible and everytime my videos stuck on 1080p or 1440p - it's a problem! please fix it!
PS everything is fine if i upload 4k25p or 4k30p
PSS it's a problem only on webOS - on PC or android everything is OK.

I recently bought a 50NANO90A6B TV and so far I have to say it's a fantastic upgrade from my old Sony 40".
However, I've one small niggle problem (only had the TV since Sunday)... The YouTube app doesn't seem to want to work! it shows the logo with a spinny circle, then the logo starts again with the spinny circle... this just repeats over and over.
All other apps (iPlayer, Jellyfin, Plex, ITV, CH4 etc...) work as does the LGTV app, so the WiFi connection is fine!
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the YouTube app a few times, but it does the same each time!
Anyone know how I can sort this? any other suggestions for fixing it!
I'm currently using my Chromecast with GoogleTV for YouTube at the moment.
I'm in the UK by the way! And the TV is set to that, in all the relevant settings locations.

      Hi,
I believe it started to happen after last update - version 03.53.45, maybe the one before. After I quit YouTube app, TV will not get signal from HDMI settopbox no matter I try. Only solution is to unplug and plug back HDMI cable which is really annoying. Is it known issue? Is there any fix? I tried few workarounds, like disabling smart features and so on, but no luck.
      TV model: OLED55B13LA
      Example:
Settopbox is powered on, TV is showing signal over HDMI, everything is fine. Then I open YouTube, after some time exit, switch back to HDMI input of settopbox and TV says no signal. I re-plug cable and then it works fine.

LG please fix YouTube app! It's doesn't want to play 4k videos! It does play videos in 4k on Android or windows, but in the WebOS YouTube no... I'm really pissed, that I need to cry about it.. why it is taking so long? I'm not the only one with this problem..
