For all those who bemoan the lack of support from LG when things do not work as expected the following article makes interesting reading:

Personally I have worked in the tech world long enough to already have realised all the points made by the author and have adjusted my expectations accordingly (not just with my LG Smart TV but many other products).

Good article. Its very true and goes inline with why people complaining that their old tvs cant get an update, who may not realize that every year hardware is updated, like buying a computer. Eventually it will be outdated. Back in the day you could buy a tube tv and sit on it for 10 years. Nowadays, screens and hardware is accelerating so fast. 8 years ago I bough a 50" plasma and still use it today. It's not smart and only has 720p. Do I throw it away for a 4k and smart interface because I want newer features? Probably at some point.

I always tell people with computers and laptops, don't spend on the top of the line hardware because it will be outdated in a year or two. I bought my 50" plasma on black friday 8 years ago for $600.  Today I can get a 50" 4K LG smart tv for $299 on sale!

Hi ajmboy,

Indeed the internal hardware in TVs out-dates very quickly at the moment, more so than mobile phones.  My sister & brother-in-law have LG running the old NetCast OS and they have just added a ROKU box to it as the on-board software is beginning to show its age.   Why did they not just buy a new TV?  Well the picture quality is still great, it is only 1080p but there again they do not have anything that requires 4K, and more importantly the ROKU only cost £20.  I reckon if I can get three years use out of webOS on my 2016 model LG I will be doing OK, if things get really buggy with the OS after that then I will just add a 4K ROKU.  For me it is more the quality of the picture that the feature set the TV comes with, I would probably even look to see if LG does a 'dumb' TV next time I need to purchase one.

LG Continues to Push the Limits of Future Mobility with Advanced ADAS Technology

SEOUL, Nov. 25, 2021 — LG Electronics (LG) and Mercedes-Benz AG were named joint winners this week at the annual AutoSens Awards, a global celebration of autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Every year the AutoSens conference recognizes companies for innovations in six categories of which LG was nominated in two: 2020 Vision Award and Hardware Development of the Year. The 2020 Vision Award was bestowed to LG and Mercedes-Benz in recognition of their influence, sustainability, contribution to the industry and inspiration to future technologies. The Hardware Development of the Year award was given to LG for successfully commercializing its front multipurpose camera technology beyond the concept stage. LG and Mercedes-Benz have been on ADAS camera technology for the past seven years, seeing the fruits of their labor commercialized in the new sedan which launched last month.
First started in 2015, the AutoSens Awards celebrates the best innovations and innovators in ADAS and autonomous vehicle technology. Every year, representatives from automakers, suppliers, research labs and academia take part in AutoSens online communities, conferences and training modules, exhibition events and workshops to better understand the fast-growing autonomous vehicle industry, which could not exist without ADAS technology.
Dr. Park Young-kyung, a Vision AI expert at LG, and Dr. Benjamin Marx of Mercedes-Benz’ multi-purpose camera team accepted the award and delivered a speech where they described the rewarding experience of working together for many years to develop a camera solution that improved real-life safety and met the strict European NCAP safety requirements. The state-of-the-art technology developed by the two companies is capable of taking advantage of deep learning and multi radar sensors to deliver significantly more environmental data to the central processing unit for analysis. More data results in better analysis and greater safety.
“Demonstration value to our automotive customers is the ultimate reward for LG,” said Dr. Kim Jin-yong, president of the LG Vehicle component Solutions Company. “Being honored together with Mercedes-Benz is very meaningful to LG as we strive to contribute toward innovation in future mobility.”

The symbolic link within the PC's Pictures  folder is displayed by the LG Webos Photo app as a folder, but when clicked, the app says that the device is not connected. The existing folders under Pictures on the PC do work using the LG Webos Photo app. The symbolic link works properly on the PC itself, so it's not a problem with creating it using mklink. Any ideas? Thanks.

      Hi Everyone,

OK, so what does it take to have full Chromecast support in LG TVs (webOS)?
      a. Either builtin support.
      b. Via webOS app.

The goal / use is simple as any other Chromecast device / TV: be able to say to "hey Google, play this video/music from service-X to LG-TV".

Looking forward to good news and your thoughts.

      Thanks,

It would be great if I didn't need to use an Amazon fire stick on my awesome oled tv to get the apps I want.
Please update the webos to at least 4.0 on modelsOLED65B6PB6

      Hi
I've got an LG Smart TV 43UM  7400PLB and am looking to buy an external hard drive so I can pause live TV and record programs. I'm currently using a much smaller capacity USB which can't pause live TV and will soon be full.
I've read on various forums that certain hard drives won't work or that I'll need to buy a certain connecting cable.
I was thinking of buying a Seagate 2TB drive, (STGX2000400) which is around £55.
Can anyone recommend one or confirm that the Seagate one will be okay.
      Thanks.
