No Universal Control option in device connector

Question

Posted

Dears,

While trying to set up universal control for my surround sound (so I dont need the extra remote) I've been facing the following difficulty.

When I go through the steps in device connector I never get the option for set universal control. After simplink  (which is off) I just have the option "done" no next to set up manufacturer to control it via the "universal" remote function on my magic remote.

Device: Oled55c7v-z + magic remote

Tried already:

Factory reset, change service location, adding different devices (never does the option appear), hard power cycle, and disconnecting and connecting the devices.

Same thing here Erich. I tried connecting magic LG Remote to my set-top-box, and I notice that for some devices in the Device Connector list, the menu in the upper right corner goes to done right away and for some devices it goes to Simplink first as you explain and then to done again. I never get the chance to reach a menu out of which to choose my T-Home set-top-box, from a list of manufacturers, or furthermore try and test the working optional remotes, as they explain on the tutorials.

Did you by any chance found a solution to this, since I try resolve it as of yesterday, and cannot find any other thread on this topic on the web. The restart, power off and back on, as well as disconnecting and reconnecting devices did not do the trick too.

After many changes to the menu and trying to find options, what allowed me to search for manufacturers is changing the Broadcast location in the settings menu. In the general settings set the Broadcast location to UK, US or Germany. It will restart the services and allow you to do further and register a set top box providers. However the local manufacturers may be not available so you will have to search for substitute. For example my Arris set top box is not available in the list so i am searching for other manufacturers which codes could work. Not all provoders/manufacturers are readily available so it is a hit or miss game. Good luck.

I've had Universal Control via the smart remote sucessfully controlling the audio (volume) for my LG OLED 48C1LB tv via my Sherwood RD-6118R amp for a while now; But following a power cut, the remote no longer controls the amp/tv volume?
The audio IS still being played through the amp using the optical OUT/IN but I have no control of the volume
I've removed and re-initialised the settings for this amp in Universal Control Settings but following the "success" message, the remote does not control the volume on the amp/tv.
      What am I missing?

Hi, I have a feature request for the sound out setting. I often connect my Bluetooth headphones to the TV. We don't use the internal speaker of the TV, we use the optical sound out setting whenever I don't use Bluetooth. It would make our lives a lot easier if the TV can remember the last sound out setting before connecting to Bluetooth and default back to this setting when the Bluetooth device gets disconnected. At the moment, each time I disconnect the headphones I have to go back into settings and change the sound out setting from internal speaker to optical again.
      Thanks and regards

LG’s Radio Optimism Campaign Inspires People to Share Their Love With Family
and Loved Ones Through One-of-a-Kind AI Songs

SEOUL, Sep. 25, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) today announced the success of its AI-powered Radio Optimism campaign, which revealed a universal truth: despite the rapid advances in technology, love and gratitude toward family and loved ones remain life’s foremost priorities.
Available in six languages, the creative platform inspired people globally to create more than 700,000 personalized songs. These AI-generated tracks – listened to and shared over 1.5 million times – underscored the enduring importance of human connection across cultures.
Designed to counter the sense of disconnection often associated with social media, Radio Optimism invited users to write a message to a loved one, select a genre and vibe and generate a one-of-a-kind AI song. By turning music into a heartfelt gesture, the campaign brought LG’s Life’s Good brand promise into the digital spaces where people most often connect.
Messages of love proved most prominent, appearing in over 30 percent of the songs, followed by messages of gratitude and encouragement. Family emerged as the most frequent recipient, followed by friends, reaffirming that when it comes to care and affection, people turn first to those closest to them.
The campaign drew an overwhelming response, generating over 30 million social engagements worldwide and 2.4 billion views of its content. Partnerships with global and local influencers amplified its reach, including Australian father-daughter duo Ben and Zara,

“Through this creative campaign, we believe we helped people rediscover the enduring values that remain unchanged even in times of change and volatility,” said Kim Hyo-eun, head of LG’s Brand Management Division. “It deeply resonated with people worldwide, reflecting the lasting value of Life’s Good. We will continue to engage with them, upholding this promise and inspiring optimism for a better life.”
The Radio Optimism campaign demonstrates how AI, when used thoughtfully, can strengthen emotional bonds in the digital age. By enabling users to create personalized songs trained on properly licensed music from original artists, LG upheld its commitment to responsible innovation while fostering a global movement of optimism and meaningful connection.

My LG TV : Model 75UM7000PLA
      The Problem:
When I want to use my wireless optical headphones, I switch the TV “Sound Out” option to “Optical” or “Internal TV Speaker + Optical.” But when I do this, the TV sends a command to the Yamaha receiver that forces it to switch its input to Optical. This stops playback of my HDMI device connected to the Yamaha because the Yamaha input is changed.

      What I would like:
Can LG update the TV firmware so that:
1️⃣ When I select “Optical” or “Internal TV Speaker + Optical” in “Sound Out,” it does not cause the Yamaha receiver to switch its input source?
      OR
2️⃣ Add a new “Sound Out” option that sends audio to Optical without sending a command to change the Yamaha input?
      OR
3️⃣ Make the existing “Internal TV Speaker” mode also output audio through Optical, but without causing the Yamaha input to switch?

      Note:
Disabling ARC is not a good solution because:

Audio from devices connected to the Yamaha receiver still plays on both TV and Yamaha speakers.

Audio from devices connected to the TV no longer plays on the Yamaha speakers.

      Thank you!
