HDMI ARC TV to Sound Bar not working

Jose Antonio Campo

Question

Dear Friends ,
Really looking forward to your help and support
My problem is i can not make work the HDMI ARC conection between TV and Sound Bar

So far:

TV LG OLED55B7P-S (latest firmware)

Sound Bar LG SK9Y (latest firmware)

NVidia Shield Pro 2017 (latest firmware in my region, waiting for Oreo)

HD Set Top Box Arris/Motorola (Cable) HDMI

Used the device manager on the WebOS to connect the Sound Bar , assigned HDMI ARC , Simplink , and tried both auto power yes and no, sound test did not work

NVidia shield connected to SK9Y HDMI IN , HDMI OUT (ARC) to TV LG HDMI 2 (ARC)

Works fine image and sound, sound of course is ok as it goes from NVidia to SK9Y directly

HD cable top box to TV LG HDMI 4 and I get no sound from the TV thru the HDMI ARC port (previously establish  HDMI 2 (ARC) to sound bar)

I plug in the optical and works fine, Internal tv speakers works fine , BT fine….everything works but the HDMI ARC.

What I am doing wrong?  I am worry it may be a HDMI ARC port problem, TV Is about 3 months old, soundbar is about 2 weeks old

Thank you in advance

Nice soundbar! My idea is probably too simple. When setting up my LG TV & LG soundbar I couldn't get any sound via ARC either.

My soundbar has 2 HDMI connections one marked sound in and naturally, I connected the TV ARC port to the soundbar  port port marked Sound In.  I couldn't get any sound unless I used the optical connection. To my surprise, I found that if I used the other HDMI port on the soundbar it worked perfectly! This still seems wrong to me but everything works and sounds good so have not made any inquiries.

Hi Mate

Thanks for your reply ,  yes is a great SoundBar I really like it

I already tried that , swap ports to see if it made a difference , same result no luck.

In my case the correct way as described by LG as by Industries standards it should be from Soundbar HDMI(ARC) out to TV HDMI (ARC) in.......and is not working

I am almost 100% positive there is an issue with the TV, I tried with a 2nd sound bar and i got the same result

Up until a few days ago my TV and AVR have been working perfectly since I bought it.
Zero hassles with HDMI and connectivity.
Then I was prompted to update to the latest software version which I did and now often when I switch HDMI (running on 1) it picks up the device name, CEC works but I get “No Signal”… and then nothing.
Just stays on “No Signal”. It is almost as if some HDMI handshake breaks and now the driver is in a broken state.
I’ve found that if I hard power off and power on the device sometimes works but I don’t want to do that every time especially since it’s hard to get to the power.
This really strikes me as a software issue with the latest update as absolutely nothing else has changed in my setup.
      I’ve tried:
Different HDMI cables (high quality) Deep colour settings Reset the TV to factory default Different HDMI ports TV
      Model: OLED65G26LA / OLED65G26LA.HFBQLWK WebOS TV Version: 8.3.0.2301 Software Version: 13.30.56 AVR & Devices
Marantz SR5015 Nvidia Shield Pro PS5
The setup is the conventional AVR installation as shown in the attached file

      Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it possible to revert the software update?

webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

      Hey
I have an OLED C3 evo
A Pioneer amplifier is connected to the optical output.

I want to connect Bluetooth headphones and use them at the same time as the amplifier.
The thing is, I haven't seen such an option on TV. It is possible to play simultaneously with the Bluetooth headphones and the internal speakers on the TV.
There is no option for Bluetooth and the optical port at the same time.

      Am I missing something here?

      Thanks
      Dani

We have a 65UM7300AUE with software version 05.40.10. We have a Google TV dongle plugged into the HDMI 1 port and that is the input we use most of the time. Until recently every time we would turn the TV on it would default to HDMI 1 and the Google TV home screen would be the first thing we’d see. Life was good. Several weeks ago that changed and now the LG OS (I assume) home screen is the first thing we see. Then we have to use the LG remote to select HDMI 1 each time. We never used to have to do this or use the LG remote at all. Kind of annoying. We think we have HDMI 1 chosen as our default input but it doesn’t seem to matter. Any ideas on how we get things back to the way they used to be with the TV defaulting to HDMI 1 automatically?
