[pivotCE]LuneOS project still progressing

Recommended Posts

It’s been quite a while since our last release and we’ve been keeping quiet lately. Some of the team members have also enjoyed some well deserved time off in the meanwhile as well. The majority of what we’ve been working on hasn’t been and isn’t ready for public consumption.

But quite a lot of things have happened in the past couple of months.

Here’s what we’ve been working on since the previous release:
-Updated various underlying OS bits: IM plugins such as SkypeWeb, YahooPlusPlus.
-Update from BlueZ4 to BlueZ5. This one is a major upgrade that requires all our targets to have major rework on low level code and this has been taking a long time but is now complete for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. This also required us to rework our Settings App plugin for BlueTooth. Since we were never really happy with the plugins and their negative impact on the performance combined with the still uncertain future of the Enyo framework, we decided to start rewriting the Settings app in QML. This will also bring back the individual Settings icons back to the launcher, like they were available on legacy webOS 2.x and 3.x.
-Added various bits and initial work for VPN plugin support for ConnMan.
-Cleanup various configuration files.
-Changed the default wallpaper to a nice new high quality LuneOS one! Thanks to Hans Kokx (aka HaDAk for the great photos!)
-Various minor tweaks to configuration.

We’ve been working on some new porting targets as well. Seeing that Halium is now available for a large number of target devices (50+ at the time of writing), users/developers have come along wanting to try LuneOS on their Halium supported device too so we’re trying to assist those in getting LuneOS working. This is still a lot of work in progress, but results look promising in general. This also would mean we will support Android 7.1.x based devices and Aarch64 bits architecture (ARM 64 bits chipsets).

New targets we are currently developing for are: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x (mido), OnePlus X (onyx), Google/Huawei Nexus 6P (angler) and Motorola G4 (athene). These are in various stages of development currently.

on their build system and targets with great success so far! There are still bits to be added and polished but it’s already a great start to see how far they have been able to come in such short time!

We’re also looking into integrating more with  , allowing more and easier ports of the LuneOS!

We plan to be back with a new release in due course, in the meanwhile you can always check our !

Asking this hear, since I could not seem to find a better place... Wake on LAN only works for a few minutes after TV is turned off?  If I turn of LG TV (WebOS 8.x) and then send a Wake on LAN (WoL) packet, it works.  If turn off the LG TV, then I wait about 15 minutes or so, then send the same WoL sequence, using the same code, script, etc., it fails, the LG TV never turns on.  THe LG TV is configured both for wired ethernet (preferred) and WiFi.  Any idea why this behavior?  It almost seems like the LG TV goes into standby, via phone app, remote, even CEC, etc., then drops from the network?  Mobile is enabled on the TV, hence the phone app works.  Why would the LG TV stop responding to WoL packets?

Brand new LG TV (WebOS 8x) WILL NOT stay off when turned off with the remote?  Out of the box, connected to internet, seems to have been updated, and working fine.  But when I hit the power off with the remote, the TV reports 'Life is Good' seems to turn off, i.e. go into standby, and then a few seconds later, turns back on.  If the device connected to the TV on the last active HDMI port is OFF, I get the No Signal warning.  So I know the active HDMI input is not generating any signal.  I want to believe that any other device on any other HDMI port might be an issue? But then the TV would switch to that HDMI port, no?  This is really an issue!  If I use the phone app I can turn off the TV and it seems to stay off, at least does not come back on in a few seconds like the remote?  If I send 'standby' via HDMI-CEC, that seems to work as well, the TV seems to stay in standby mode.  This a bug?

      Hi,
      New user on here.
I bought this new TV last week and it is honestly driving me bananas.
When I click "Home" after using an App, etc, it brings me to the WebOS interface but then automatically selects the last used device (e.g. Fire stick, LG Channels, etc) despite me not wanting it to.
Is it possible to disable this, i.e. "Home" brings me to WebOS and stays there? I'm sure its a setting etc which I'm missing.
Device is LG UQ91 43 inch 4K Smart UHD TV, pretty sure its all up to date.
      Thanks in advance.

I have been trying to get my Google Home and Nest Audio Speakers to turn my LG OLED65C24LA TV on and off.   I have linked ThinQ to Google Home but it still wouldn't work.  So plan B was to get a Chromecast to do this one simple voice activated request....I have no intentions of using Chromecast for anything else!
So this actually does work, however, when asking it to turn the TV on, it defaults to the home page of Chromecast TV, I want it to just open to my normal TV system, which is Sky Q.  Ideally, I would like to disconnect the Chromecast and just get Google Home and ThinQ to do this !!
I have checked every setting and trawled the internet for a solution.  I've posted on the AV Forum in the UK and the Google Forum and I'm waiting on a call back from LG Support UK.
I expected this to be a VERY simple task !!
Can anyone help with this ?

We have a new 32” LG tv. The picture is great. Sound is great. Controls are confusing to us.
when using DVDs the resolution seems fine. But when cable tv is on the image overflows the screen, cutting off parts of the picture.

we can’t figure out how to fix. Probably simple, but we can’t find it.

      Help?
