LG 55UH770V - audio issues

Hi,

 

I am hoping someone can help, as I've not been having any joy elsewhere.

 

I have an LG 55UH770V running the latest firmware/software.

 

I connect to my A/V receiver via HDMI 2 (ARC) and for TV apps (Netflix, Plex) have surround sound.

 

I connect my Xbox One and PS4 to HDMI 1 and 3 respectively. Up until yesterday I would then have surround sound, via ARC, playing from my A/V system for the PS4 and XBox One.

 

Yesterday, I noticed that the sound from the PS4 was only in stereo. On checking, the same is true for Xbox One. The Xbox will not even allow me to now select 5.1 or 7.1 in the audio set up, saying my receiver (i.e. the TV) does not support it. The TV apps, remain fine, playing surround sound

 

I cannot understand why this has suddenly happened or how to solve it.

 

Any help is appreciated.

I had this problem with the same TV It used to work and then was only outputting stereo to my amp. I found out the problem was the sound out output for optical/HDMI arc under digital sound out was set to PCM and needs to be changed to Auto. I hope this works for you.

I did also notice when I have both the internal speaker and digital out on at the same time it sent only stereo to the amp that was with Netflix app not sure about the hdmi inputs at the time only enabled digital out only as the fix for me.

In the words of FE Smith, I am none the wiser, but better informed.

 

The problem appears to be limited to audio output from the consoles which is linear PCM. If I set the Xbox One or PS4 audio settings to bitstream and either Dolby or DTS, and provided that the digital sound out on the LG is set to auto (instead of PCM), then I have surround sound. However, if the audio output on the PS4 is set to linear PCM or on the Xbox One is set to uncompressed 5.1 or 7.1 (which I guess is linear PCM), then this is not detected by the TV, and I simply get stereo, irrespective of whether I have the digital sound out set to auto or PCM.

 

Will be calling LG tomorrow!

Okay - "solved" this issue. The TV (nor TVs in general) does not support linear PCM passthrough other than 2.1. I have therefore configured both the XBox and PS4 to DTS output. Guess I was mistaken when I believed that it had been working previously.

      LG 65QNED92AUA issues/Bluetooth connection dropping

      I have a LG 65QNED92AUA tv that has issues with the Bluetooth connection dropping off when connected to my earbuds. I believe the issue to be software related. LG has sent 2 technicians out to repair and the first technician changed the main board and Bluetooth transmitter which did not resolve the issue.
      There are similar issues with Bluetooth Connection from others.
      Since hardware replacement didn’t help and this is a known software-pattern issue, I would like push LG to specifically address it at the firmware/webOS level. I am unable to escalate to their software team and check if there’s a known patch or beta firmware for the QNED92 line. 
      For some reason this line of questioning is not available with in LG customer service.
       Please help!

      HDMI ARC - Audio Out Not Working (Again)

      I'm not getting any audio from the apps via the HDMI via ARC connection to my receiver.  This occurred two weeks ago and was unable to resolve it, but ironically there was new firmware released that same day for my B6 (3/31/17) and this fixed the issue.  However, now I again can't get it working after a TV reset and tinkering with the audio settings again.  I tried to load the firmware again, but it appears this is not possible to forceable load the same firmware.

      LG C5 TV/Denon ARC/CEC issues

      I have a Denon AVR hooked up to the HDMI 2 input on my LG tv. When I initially set it up, I was able to control the volume of the Denon receiver by using the LG remote. I enabled CEC Simplink and eARC on the TV and this allowed me to not only use the volume but also turn the receiver on and off automatically with the TV. Recently, my LG tv installed a software update and ever since that point, the TV reverts to TV Audio instead of HDMI 2 every time I turn the TV off and back on again. I then have to change the sound setting to HDMI and the volume control works perfectly. 

      Any tips? I already tried unplugging everything including the HDMI cables, turning CEC and eARK off and back on again, and reverting to all original settings but nothing seems to work.
      My Denon receiver does not have eARC support, not sure if that matters but I'd love to know the best way to set it up to control volume through one remote.

      DNS Resolver issues after Update

      Hi,
      Since updating our OLED65G2PSA to 23.20.56, we experience sprodadic issues with the network where any app requiring network access shows the generic 'no network access' message.
      I have found that when this does happen, I can still PING the TV and connect to IP based web pages.  To fix I can either power cycle the TV or I can go into network settings and toggle off/on 'Set automatically' which must just be triggering something in the underlying OS to reload its DNS service.
      Setting a static IP makes no difference, setting a static DNS server makes no difference - it is clearly a software issue.  We have had a TV repair company come and replace the boards, which worked right up untill updating to 23.20.56 and beyond.
       
      Has anyone else experienced this, does anyone have a solution ?
