External USB DVD Player Support

Based on my own experience, I think before the LG tv will "recognize" the DVD player, the DVD player has to be hdmi-cec enabled. HDMI-CEC is the communications protocol that allows components to communicate and control each other via hdmi connections (LG calls it SIMPLINK). In my case the Blu Ray player can be recognized by the tv when hdmi-cec is turned on but becomes "invisible" when turned off. So your DVD player has to have hdmi-cec capability, the DVD player has to be set to enable hdmi-cec, SIMPLINK has to be turned on on the LG tv, and the DVD player has to be connected to the tv via an hdmi cable.

if any of these requirements are not met, including connecting the DVD player to the tv's USB port, then the tv can’t "see" it or control it.

Having said that, you should still be able to use the DVD player by manually selecting the input on the tv to which the DVD player is connected—whether that be an hdmi or USB port—and then controlling the player with its own remote.

Hope this helps.

So basically I just got a new LG OLED TV (55 inch C5) and my Dad's C4 was seemingly able to display internal or embedded subtitles in TV shows through the built-in media player from external USB storage just fine with some tinkering in the menus.
But with mine, the subtitles are displaying all of the raw text in the subtitle files in the player, not using the arguments properly at all.
      Pictures included for reference

Is there any way to fix this other than literally doing subtitles for every episode externally, in a seperate file?
These subtitles work fine when I play from the exact same storage device on my phone through VLC, and again on my Dad's LG TV

      Hi Everyone,
i purchase qned706a i found a great tv and picture quality its awesome i know its not like oled but for me its more than enough, but i have one issue with it.
i got LG based on my previews experience with my brother tv its a nanocell lg from 2017, it's media player able to run all movie without any issue, i was shocked that my 2025 tv won't able to run DTS audio, i mange to add another audio track to my move as EAC3 its working perfect, but what's drive me crazy is that some video file MKV don't work at all  showing me "this file cannot be recognised. and its working on the 2017 model without issue ! why is that DTS have some license issue ok but i don't call a video file have license too the video track shows HEVC (H265 Main 10 @L5.1), i try same video on samsung tv and it work on it i don't know why lg don't support it !
finally i try check other media player app and it seem lg don't support such app, and i read about Kodi app and i try it on dev mode but i didn't like it and the experience wasn't perfect i have some greenish pixel, but it was able to run the video and even run file with DTS audio, which take me to my final question.
if Kodi manage to run the video and audio fine, why LG media player didn't, and if its about license why they not allowed 3rd party app like VLC to publish their software !!
i hope LG focus on user experience and not nonsense AI that no one will use.

      Hello,
I have a LG C4 OLED 77 inch TV and my GeForce NOW Premium subscription allows up to 2K resolution and I can set 2K on my Android and Windows devices but I can't set it on the TV which allows only 1080p (or 4K for ultimate subscription which I don't have). It would be nice to have that option because it greatly improves the image quality.
      Best regards,
      wido

As per the subject line, I have had a USB drive connected to my television for over four years, but for the past few days it has not been recognising the directories where my films and music are organised, and is displaying EVERYTHING in a single list of over a thousand files.
It is a 1TB drive (half of the maximum 2TB allowed) with a power supply, formatted as NTFS, and not completely full.
I have checked the drive and it has no bad sectors. I have tried connecting it to both USB ports and all the files are in the permitted format (avi, mkv, mp4, mp3, etc.).
I have also tried another 1TB drive, but the result is the same.
Do I need to reconfigure something in the television settings?
It would be a significant loss if I cannot resolve this issue.
Thank you in advance for your responses.
