India has seen its share of challenges during this pandemic. So when a powerful second wave overwhelmed health facilities in April 2021, LG’s team in the country sprang into action. With a long history of community building in India, LG pledged USD 5.5 million to a project overseeing the creation of makeshift hospitals and the supply of life-saving medical equipment to help those in desperate need of hospital beds, equipment and much-needed oxygen.

By working in unison with local government bodies and NGOs – People to People Health Foundation, United Way Mumbai and Doctors for You – LG identified 21 government hospitals feeling the full force of the pandemic in cities such as Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Udaipur, Lucknow, Chennai and Sikkim. The allocation of equipment to hospitals was determined by requests received directly from hospital management and assessment of the program coordinators.

LG also donated medical beds, ventilators, digital scanning machines, oxygen cylinders and lifesaving ambulances to more than 21 hospitals with a keen eye on making sure that rural towns such as the southernmost town of Kanyakumari far from the New Delhi nerve center weren’t left out. This life-saving support allowed All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), one of India’s most sophisticated medical facilities, to make more beds available to COVID-19 patients.

With daytime temperatures hovering around 41°C (106°F), wearing masks and protective gear made working in India’s hospitals insufferable. Aware of the heavy burden on the medical staff and the long hours they were working every day under extreme conditions, LG donated appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines to help hospitals in the region provide their real-life superheroes with more comfortable environments.

This wasn’t the first time LG lent a helping hand to communities since the pandemic began and it certainly won’t be the last. At the start of the lockdown in April of 2020, LG joined forces with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to bring one million meals to Indians in need. This latest initiative by LG will allow every hospital to be fully operational, treating the maximum number of patients.

In the meanwhile, LG will be working nonstop to make life good for millions as the pandemic continues in India.

In a unique initiative to address food insecurity and spread kindness across the United States, LG is working with global nonprofit Lasagna Love to positively impact communities by connecting neighbors through homemade lasagnas.
LG USA enlisted the help of celebrity chefs and foodies to kick off the . They will be pitching in to bake lasagnas and posting their experience across their social media channels to inspire others to volunteer and keep the cooking challenge going.

The campaign, which launched on Nov. 8 in time for the season of giving, has a goal of delivering 15,000 meals and connecting people in their communities throughout the USA. The social media campaign encourages others to join Lasagna Love’s mission of addressing the incredible rise in food insecurity among families and providing a simple act of kindness to those in need of a helping hand.

LG believes in empowering home cooks and providing them with the innovative tools they need to make the most of their time in the kitchen. Through the partnership with Lasagna Love, LG will be sharing recipes and cooking tips for LG’s InstaView ranges to motivate consumers to get involved and give them all the tools they need to make and gift the perfect lasagna.

“We’ve all been in a place of needing support, whether it’s a family struggling with food insecurity, a neighbor feeling isolated, or a friend who could use a little encouragement, we hope to inspire others this holiday season to spread Lasagna Love’s mission and connect people in their communities,” says Gail Conroy, senior director of marketing, LG Electronics USA.

Lasagna Love’s mission is simple: feed families, spread kindness and strengthen communities. According to CEO and Founder Rhiannon Menn, “Lasagna Love was created through the simple act of one family making a home-cooked meal for another family in need. As we continue to scale our mission of spreading kindness, what’s most inspiring is how we’re making life a little better not only for the families receiving a meal, but also for the volunteers who are cooking.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with an innovative company like LG that truly understands the power in this one simple act of kindness and wants to help us reach even further,” she says.

When I use voice recognition to say, e.g., "watch PBS", I get a string of channels across the bottom and a very loud voice telling me that it has found channels. I want that voice to go away. Note that I have disabled Audio Guidance in the Accessibility Settings. This is on a OLED55CXAUA.
      Thanks.
