Collaboration to Integrate LG’s High-Efficiency Heat Pumps
With Octopus Energy Group’s AI-Based Kraken Platform
SEOUL, Sep. 2, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UK-based Octopus Energy Group Ltd. (Octopus Energy) to strengthen its presence in Europe’s clean technology sector. The partnership will combine LG’s advanced, high-efficiency heating and cooling solutions with Octopus Energy’s AI-driven energy software platform, Kraken, to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy in Europe.
The MOU signing ceremony took place on August 28 (local time) at Octopus Energy’s London headquarters. Attendees included Thomas Yoon, head of LG’s Overseas Sales & Marketing Company; Charles Choi, managing director of LGEUK; Greg Jackson, founder and CEO of Octopus Energy; and Tim Heal, Chief Strategy Officer at Octopus Energy.
Octopus Energy is the UK’s largest energy supplier, driving the shift toward a decarbonized future with innovative clean energy solutions. The company provides electricity and gas, and is spearheading the adoption of heat pumps as sustainable alternatives to gas boilers. Its proprietary Kraken platform enables consumers to optimize energy usage through real-time renewable pricing. Since its founding in 2016, Octopus Energy has expanded into more than 30 countries, now serving around 10 million customers worldwide.
Through this collaboration, LG and Octopus Energy will launch a joint solution that integrates LG’s high-efficiency heat pumps with the Kraken platform in key European markets, including the UK and Germany. The combined solution is designed to optimize home heating and cooling while lowering energy costs for consumers. Looking ahead, both companies plan to expand the partnership across additional products and markets, leveraging their complementary strengths to deliver greater value to customers.
LG’s state-of-the-art heat pumps utilize waste heat and ambient energy sources to deliver outstanding efficiency while significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to fossil fuel-based systems. Powered by LG’s proprietary CoreTech inverter scroll compressor, the systems deliver exceptional durability, safety and energy performance.
This strategic partnership positions LG to build on its proven expertise in high-efficiency heating and cooling solutions, enhance its brand presence in Europe, and further expand its global footprint in the clean tech sector.
Greg Jackson, founder and CEO of Octopus Energy, said: “Heat pumps are the linchpin of clean, affordable heating – and LG makes some of the best on the market. By plugging them and their air conditioning units into our Kraken tech, we can make them even cheaper to run, giving households an easy way to cut their bills while helping the planet.”
“This partnership with Octopus Energy Group represents a significant milestone in our European growth strategy,” said Thomas Yoon, head of LG’s Overseas Sales & Marketing Company. “We will continue to explore new opportunities that create differentiated customer value and secure sustainable growth drivers in the global market.”

SEOUL, Aug. 25, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) is presenting its advanced commercial laundry solutions at Clean Show 2025, North America’s largest commercial laundry industry tradeshow, in Orlando, Florida (August 23–26). LG’s exhibit features a wide range of professional and commercial laundry products tailored to the diverse needs of laundromats, hotels, healthcare facilities and other commercial operators. Equipped with AI-driven precision washing technologies, the company’s latest solutions deliver powerful performance, excellent energy efficiency and significant operational savings.
LG’s showcase demonstrates its unmatched ability to meet both industry demand for high-efficiency equipment and consumer expectations for convenience and premium service. By leveraging these strengths, the company aims to further improve its position in the North American commercial laundry market.
Flagship Professional Lineup: Performance Meets Efficiency
At the LG Professional AI Zone, the spotlight is on the flagship LG PROFESSIONAL LAUNDRY lineup. Though not yet distributed in the U.S., the series makes its debut at Clean Show 2025, highlighting LG’s dedication to the industry and its technology expertise. Engineered for high-volume environments, these solutions combine durability with advanced efficiency.
The PROFESSIONAL LAUNDRY Combo units employ LG’s cutting-edge AI technology, which intelligently adjusts water usage and optimizes wash/dry times based on load size. Completing a full cycle in just 60 minutes,* they minimize energy consumption while maintaining the high-quality results professional operations demand.
Additionally, the PROFESSIONAL LAUNDRY products utilize LG’s Ball Balancing System, which enables the laundry drum to spin stably at speeds of up to 1,100 RPM (with a g-force of 520). It also contributes to reduced vibrations, enhanced water extraction and shorter cycle times. Another innovation applied is the Dual Action Heat Exchange System, which ensures fast, even drying by efficiently transferring heat to fabrics and lowers energy usage without compromising performance. In addition, a ductless design allows for flexible installation, helping businesses save on setup costs and operate more efficiently in space-constrained environments.
Full-spectrum Portfolio for Real-world Applications
In the LG Commercial Laundry Zone, visitors can explore the full range of front- and top-loading washers, dryers and combo units designed for hotels, hospitals, student housing and more. Modeled after real laundromats, the zone demonstrates the scalability and spatial adaptability of LG’s solutions, showcasing their ability to meet the needs of a wide range of commercial businesses. This comprehensive display underscores LG’s commitment to providing premium solutions for every stage of the laundry process.
Smart Laundry LAB: Connectivity for Operational Excellence
LG is also spotlighting connected innovations in its Smart Laundry LAB, presented in collaboration with Rinse, a leading North American laundry and dry-cleaning delivery service. The two companies are exploring new opportunities to deliver innovative laundry and dry-cleaning solutions to a wider customer base.
The Smart Laundry LAB highlights LG’s approach to connected operation with the convenient Laundry Crew 3.0 and the Smart API. Laundry Crew 3.0 provides an integrated interface that connects store managers and end users, enabling real-time product monitoring and coordinated support. A simulated online-to-offline (O2O) service illustrates how LG’s solutions facilitate seamless digital-to-physical workflows. Visitors can attend live demonstrations of these customized systems to gain a better understanding of LG’s connected strategy for streamlining management and enhancing efficiency in commercial laundry operations.
In addition to providing a complete lineup of solutions, LG is strengthening its position in the North American market through strategic partnerships. The company’s recent agreements with leading commercial laundry service providers, including CSC ServiceWorks and WASH, reflect a deep commitment to fostering customer engagement and bolstering operational excellence across the region. Building on its successful appearance at Texcare 2024, LG’s participation in Clean Show 2025 reinforces its determination to achieve product excellence and brand leadership in the commercial laundry market.
“We are proud to be a part of Clean Show 2025, where we are showcasing next-generation commercial laundry solutions with AI-driven technologies and industry-leading energy efficiency,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company. “These innovations reveal LG’s commitment to helping businesses operate more sustainably while delivering the performance and value our brand is known for.”

Company Builds Sustainable Growth by Empowering Local Talent and
Advancing Technical Excellence in HVAC
SEOUL, May 27, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) is strengthening the competitiveness of its heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) business by expanding its global training infrastructure. Through its growing network of LG HVAC Academies, the company is establishing new facilities and upgrading existing ones in key markets including Thailand, China, Indonesia and France – each offering specialized training programs designed to meet the specific needs of local professionals and industries.
In January 2025, LG officially opened a new LG HVAC Academy in Bangkok, Thailand. Relocated from the Thonburi Service Center to the Sathon business district, the upgraded facility is certified by Thailand’s Department of Skill Development and can train up to 1,700 HVAC professionals annually. Its comprehensive curriculum covers a range of areas including heating and cooling system design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and safety control. Graduates who pass final assessments receive nationally recognized technical certifications.
In March, LG launched its second HVAC Academy in China, adding a new facility in Shenzhen to complement the existing Tianjin location, which reopened in 2023. Situated in one of China’s key innovation and industrial hubs, the Shenzhen academy features lecture halls, a product showroom and a Smart Home zone. The site will play a pivotal role in promoting LG’s strategic HVAC offerings and deepening customer engagement in the Chinese market.
Also in March, LG reopened its newly relocated and expanded HVAC Academy in Jakarta, Indonesia. Now located in the southern part of the city, the two-floor facility includes lecture and practice rooms on the first floor, and a product showroom on the second floor showcasing HVAC solutions for residential, commercial and hospitality applications. The third floor houses Hi-M Solutek, LG’s training partner specializing in maintenance education. This practical, hands-on environment helps local dealers and partners enhance their technical capabilities and service excellence.
In Europe, LG commenced operations at its new HVAC Academy in Lyon, France, in mid-May 2025. As LG’s second training center in France – following the first academy in Paris – the Lyon facility offers hands-on training zones and a dedicated product showroom. An adjacent LG office will collaborate closely with the academy to support the company’s regional business development.
LG’s HVAC Academies are vital hubs for technical training and business support, playing a key role in the company’s global B2B strategy. By the end of 2025, LG aims to operate 70 academies worldwide, collectively training approximately 37,000 HVAC professionals each year.
“Our global education infrastructure is designed to foster mutual growth, supporting local talent to be their best while strengthening LG’s leadership in the global HVAC market,” said James Lee, president of the LG ES Company.
