That spirit was front and center at the country’s first-ever OLED Film Festival, a celebration made possible by LG Mexico and the iconic Cineteca Nacional, Mexico’s leading institution for cultural cinema.
This debut festival featured over 30 short films, each offering a distinct perspective on Mexican customs, indigenous roots and the artistry of visual storytelling. More than just a celebration of creativity, the event showed how cutting-edge technology can help preserve – and amplify – authentic voices.

As part of the global Life’s Good campaign, the OLED Film Festival illustrated how innovation can deepen our connections to each other. Under the theme “Less Artificial, More Human,” the event underscored how technology can elevate cultural storytelling, spark empathy and preserve collective memory in ways no other medium can.
Curated by Pixelatl, a leading Mexican organization for graphic and audiovisual storytelling, the lineup included shorts that focused on indigenous languages, rituals and communities. These were shown alongside restored works by legendary animator Dominique Jonard and several critically acclaimed titles:
“Carne de Dios” by Patricio Plaza: Set in colonial Mexico, a Spanish friar suffering from a mysterious illness is brought to a curandera – a traditional healer. As the curandera performs an ancient ritual to cure him, the experience triggers profound and unexpected effects on his body and mind. “Mi abuela Matilde” by Miguel Anaya: When young María is left in the care of her grandmother, she must learn the essential skills for an independent life. Tensions rise until a childhood secret helps them rediscover their connection and compassion. “Hasta los huesos” by René Castillo: A man journeys into the Land of the Dead, where he encounters a surreal world of worms, dancing skeletons and the iconic Catrina. Gradually, he realizes that being dead isn’t as daunting as he thought. The festival’s opening keynote, “Animation with Indigenous Communities” by Luis Jurado, featured four themed screenings: Childhood, Musical Mexico, Rituals and Customs, and The Best of Pixelatl (2019–2024).
To extend the festival’s impact beyond the big screen, LG brought the OLED experience to Villa de las Niñas, a school in the State of Mexico supporting over 3,000 indigenous girls from vulnerable backgrounds.
For one day, the school’s auditorium transformed into a pop-up cinema, giving students a magical, first-hand experience with film. It wasn’t just about watching movies – it was an invitation to dream, explore and connect.
LG’s support for Villa de las Niñas extends beyond this event. The company has equipped the school with more than 70 premium displays, laser projectors, washing machines and kitchen appliances – helping improve everyday life for students and teachers alike.
To amplify awareness and drive support for the school, LG Mexico invited media and influencers to experience the event. The campaign reached over 18.5 million people, highlighting LG’s commitment to social impact while boosting brand visibility through meaningful, purpose-driven storytelling.
The first OLED Film Festival in Mexico brought together the best of technology, culture and creativity – proving that a screen can be more than just a source of entertainment. It can preserve heritage, spark imagination and connect generations.

2024 LG gram Laptops Provide High-Performance AI Capabilities
and Innovative Connectivity Through ‘LG gram Link’ App
SEOUL, Dec. 28, 2023 — LG Electronics (LG) is expanding its LG gram series in 2024, offering consumers a wider selection of compelling choices, including the new LG gram Pro. The perfect blend of power and portability, LG gram series ultra-lightweight laptops combine high-end specifications with exceptionally slim yet durable designs and all-day battery life. All 2024 models come with the latest AI-enabled functions on LG gram Link app, simplifying tasks like file sharing, photo sharing and screen mirroring across LG gram, Android and iOS devices.
LG gram Pro and LG gram Pro 2-in-1
LG’s best-in-class LG gram Pro laptops (models 16Z90SP and 17Z90SP) come equipped with a Intel® Core Ultra processor with hybrid architecture, an NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card.1 The new LG gram Pro laptops are also embedded with the Intel® AI Boost, Intel’s neural processing unit (NPU) that can handle AI workloads even without a network connection.
Moreover, the new LG grams include the compatibility-boosting LG gram Link app, which facilitates effortless file sharing, photo transfers and screen mirroring between LG gram (Windows) and Android or iOS devices.2 The app also has an integrated AI function that intelligently categorizes photos stored on gram and simplifies image searches through keyword identification. The new LG gram Pro models feature a dual cooling system. The LG gram Pro laptops deliver stunning picture quality with superb color and contrast, offering 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.3 Both models come with a Wide Quad XGA resolution (WQXGA / 2,560 x 1,600) IPS display, while the 16-inch LG gram Pro is also available with a WQXGA+ (2,880 x 1,800) resolution OLED display. The LG gram Pro 2-in-1 (model 16T90SP) has won a CES 2024 Innovation Award and has recently been listed in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS as the lightest 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop. The LG gram 17 and gram 16 models come with WQXGA resolution displays and large screen sizes, making them suitable for both work and multimedia consumption. The smaller 15- and 14-inch models offer supreme transportability and an equally satisfying user experience. All models in the 2024 LG gram family are equipped with a built-in Full-HD (1,920 x 1,080) webcam for video calling and conferencing. Since 2011, LG has been running the LG Hope Screen program under its ESG direction of Better Life for All, raising public awareness of serious social and environmental issues. Public service videos produced by international organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) were able to catch the eyes of many by being displayed on LG’s billboards in the high-traffic pedestrian areas in two of the world’s most popular cities – New York’s iconic Times Square and London’s Piccadilly Circus.
In celebration of World Food Day (October 16), LG once again aired a campaign video on its outdoor billboards between October 9-22. World Food Day is celebrated annually to honor the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a specialized agency to raise public awareness regarding global food shortages and efforts to address them.
The campaign video was produced by FAO under the theme, “Water is life. Water is food. Leave no one behind,” inspiring people to work together to end hunger. It aims to remind viewers of the value of water, an essential element for life and food, and to encourage people to put more thought and effort into water usage and conservation for a more sustainable future.

Would you please add one or two shades of gray to the subtitle colour selection in the inbuilt video player (Photos and Videos app ) ? White is blinding on the OLED screen in a dark room while watching dark scenes. Also a bit thicker shadow/outline would be nice.

I have 43UJ701V smart tv, purchased late 2017. Recently noticed very light coloured vertical band 100mm wide or so on left of screen with a couple of coloured patches near left corners. Most noticeable when displaying a white test screen. Anyone with similar experience ?
