UM7500PTA can't select internal subtitles in MKV files since 5.00.15 update (there is a workaround though)

Question

Posted

Hi all - have an UM7500PTA TV and steaming movies from my Synology NAS's DLNA server. (mkv HDR 2160p movies mostly)

SRT embedded subtitles had not been a problem and could select any of the SRT subtitle tracks, but not since 5.00.15 update.

I found a workaround though: if I add a dummy external srt file with one single subtitle inside, I can select internal subtitles and then the "track" button will be active to select any embedded srt sub.

Was looking into firmware downgrade via LgDTVUpDater, but not sure if a 2019 model TV can be downgraded that way.

Any ideas - thank you.

If I play an MKV video from a USB drive that contains multiple subtitle tracks with correct language tags, will webOS automatically select the appropriate subtitles, for example based on the TV interface language or the country where the TV is being used? Or it will just select first one/makred as fefault?

So basically I just got a new LG OLED TV (55 inch C5) and my Dad's C4 was seemingly able to display internal or embedded subtitles in TV shows through the built-in media player from external USB storage just fine with some tinkering in the menus.
But with mine, the subtitles are displaying all of the raw text in the subtitle files in the player, not using the arguments properly at all.
      Pictures included for reference

Is there any way to fix this other than literally doing subtitles for every episode externally, in a seperate file?
These subtitles work fine when I play from the exact same storage device on my phone through VLC, and again on my Dad's LG TV

Hello , There is no setting to select subtitles for series and movies, I tried clicking on the colors on the remote, but nothing worked, I poked around in settings and found nothing. I sent several emails to the company, but no response was received. I remember that there was an option in the previous version, who has the same problem and what can be done?

TV is a week old and the internal speaker has stopped working when in HDMI ARC + internal speaker sound output mode. The internal speaker itself works fine when in “internal speaker” sound output mode. I’ve checked all the settings that I can and can’t find anything that would correct this issue.

I have a Roku device attached to my LG TV model # 55UQ7570PUJ. As I’m watching something on the Roku and using my Roku remote, every now and then something that I press on that Roku remote brings up the LG ‘Select a menu item’ screenwhere AV Reset is highlighted. Any idea what could be happening here? One clue: after I press the undo button on the LG remote to get rid of that window, I find that the volume is all the way down. Maybe I’m hitting the Roku remote’s Mute button in some weird way and that brings up the ‘Select a menu item’ window?
It’s surprising that something I press on the Roku remote brings up an LG dialog, but that’s what’s happening. Thanks for any help.
