Yo! We heard you like open sourced webOS so

the open source of webOS!

Ok, so that’s not entirely accurate since from HP after …well…bits and pieces of it back in 2012. So no, you’re not stuck in a Doctor Strange time loop.

webOS has been open sourced before but not by LG.  This news comes as a shock to the current legacy webOS community still rocking Pre 3s and waiting for LuneOS to reach “driver” status.  The community hasn’t poured through the code as of yet but it immediately begs certain questions:

  1. Will the work on LuneOS be helped or hindered by additional LG open source code which LG had already been committing too for some time (though they have missed some of their promised bits for a while)?
  2. What hardware limitations are there for use of the software? Still looking for that …
  3. How flexible (read: portable) is it?
  4. How complete is it?  HP’s open source webOS was decidedly incomplete…

We’ll keep you updated on the developments on this as they become available.  For now, the conversation has started on the forums so feel free to .

In the specifications of this LaserTV it is shown that WebOS 6.0 should be installed on this device.
The latest Device Firmware Version is 3.01.02 and i am missing the RTL+ App (Germany) which should be available with WebOS 6.0
So any info when there will be a "real" WebOS 6.0 available on the Cinebeam HU915EQE?

webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

Hey everyone, I've been using my LG WebOS TV for some time now, and there's a small but impactful change I'd love to see. Currently, when the TV is turned on without an HDMI input, it defaults to displaying a wallpaper. It's not aesthetically pleasing, it's a bit of an inconvenience for users like me who primarily use the TV's smart features. My suggestion is to include an option that allows the TV to boot directly into the Home screen, displaying all the available apps and streaming options right away. This would streamline the user experience, making it faster and easier to access the services we use most.Would love to hear the community's thoughts on this. Cheers!
