I have the C8 OLED 4K HDR AI Smart TV - 65" and cannot find CBS All Access in the LG Content Store.  I also can't find which version of WEB OS I have.  I have my TV set to automatic updates, it is connected via ethernet and believe everything is up to date.  Is this not available to the US Market?  Also, I have registered my model TV: OLED 65C6PU at the LG main site, but I can't check if my TV is compatible with the WEB OS version for CBS ALL ACCESS.   I purchased this late 2017, so I think my TV can run it- I use all the other streaming services through the Web OS- Vudu, Hulu, Prime, Netflix 4k, etc.   Any suggestions?  This site- lgwebos.com should be able to recognize my User ID info with the main site.  I have the same username, etc. but it doesn't seem to pull my TV up.

If anyone can help me figure this out, I'd really appreciate it.  I'm fairly up on the latest technology, but this dual sites that don't recognize each other (or my registered equipment) is really frustrating!  Thanks in advance- Anyone!

Thanks for your quick reply Alex.  Well, that makes a whole lot of sense.  Apologies- your site looked like LG's "official" site, so my bad.   This is my first LG TV, and until recently, I expected that the WebOS would be updated at the same rate as the other TV software, and haven't had any issues running a wide range of streaming apps, including Vudu 4k and Netflix 4k and several others.  This CBS All Access seems to be an outlier in terms of technical requirements.

After doing a bit more research, it appears that I'm outta luck with regards to upgrading to WebOS 4.0 or higher.  My model, OLED 65C6P-U is a 2017 set that's running version is: 3.3.4-3714 (dreadlocks-dharug).  I was hoping there was some kind of work around in the community here to update it, even if it's not the "officially" approved method.  I figured that its Linux-based and some folks out here may have figured out a way to upgrade the OS, especially if its a smaller, incremental update (like 3.34 to 4.0).  It just makes me wonder if LG arbitrarily chose 2018 as a cut off for upgrading the WebOS.  It's really frustrating, as unlike a phone you replace every 2 years or so, with a TV you tend to hold onto 5-10 years.

Would you know if there's a work-around out there, maybe something I could dload to a USB stick and update that way?

If, as I fear, there is no way to update the WebOS, would you know if there is a work-around where I could cast CBS All Access through my Ipad Pro or iPhone 7plus.  I also have a MacBook Pro, but its a late 2013 model.  There appears to be several 3rd party apps in the LG Content Store that offer a variety of device/display sharing, but I'm not sure which app would allow me to cast the CBS App.

Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.   Aside from this WebOS limitation on updating, I've loved the picture quality and have been satisfied with the Smart TV features LG has- although you'd probably agree that at this point there really should be much more standardization between mfr's on the software, CODECs, especially regarding HDR, Dolby, and other 4K features.

Thanks in advance for your feedback- I appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Bob Gearing

The CBS Access app doesn't work on my C9 OLED. I installed it correctly but none of the shows will actually stream...just error codes. What's the ETA on an updated app that ACTUALLY WORKS????

I am experiencing some video stuttering with the CBS All Access app on my LG 55UK6090PUA. It appears to drop whole frames. It doesn't happen frequently but enough to be annoying. Who do I contact about this problem?

In contrast, when played through my Roku 2 hooked up to the same TV on HDMI I have never experienced this problem.

Note: This also occurs on the WebOS Hulu app. I've never experienced the problem using the WebOS Netflix or Prime Video apps.

Company Showcases Anti-fungal and Antibacterial Glass Powder to
      Global B2B Customers

SEOUL, April 17, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) is accelerating the global expansion of its advanced materials business with LG PuroTecTM, an antimicrobial glass powder designed for diverse B2B applications. The company is targeting global markets – including across Asia – with this innovative material that offers antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.
At Chinaplas 2025, being held in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, LG showcased its lineup of PuroTec to the international B2B market. Recognized as one of the world’s leading industrial materials exhibitions, Chinaplas 2025 has brought together over 4,000 companies from around 150 countries to introduce cutting-edge materials across industries such as plastics and rubber.
At the event, LG highlighted the wide applicability of PuroTec to B2B customers, and also introduced diverse use cases in home appliances, construction materials, medical devices and textiles that PuroTec can be applied to.
PuroTec can be blended into materials like plastic, paint and rubber to provide antibacterial and anti-fungal effects that can help prevent odors, contamination and discoloration caused by microorganisms. Even in small quantities, it maintains excellent efficacy and mixes easily with various base materials, enhancing its value across manufacturing sectors.
Building on its long-standing expertise in glass powder technology – originally developed for use in its home appliances – LG is positioning PuroTec as a new pillar of its B2B materials strategy. Since introducing the product in 2023, LG has expanded its presence in Asian markets such as China, Vietnam and India, while securing approximately 420 related patents since 2006.
As part of its global expansion strategy, LG plans to introduce PuroTec in Europe and North America, with a major showcase planned at K 2025 in Düsseldorf, Germany, this October.
In addition to PuroTec, LG continues to invest in the development of advanced materials. A notable example is Marine Glass, a functional, water-soluble glass material designed to help support marine ecosystem restoration. When dissolved, it changes into an inorganic ion state that stimulate the growth of both microalgae and macroalgae – helping to rehabilitate damaged ocean environments.
“We will continue to develop advanced materials that meet the evolving needs of global B2B customers,” said Baek Seung-tae, head of the LG’s Kitchen Solution Business, “These innovative solutions will enable us to expand beyond traditional home appliances and into broader, future-forward industries.”

Accessibility in technology transcends mere innovation; it is about making everyday life better for everyone. At CSUN AT 2025, LG participated as the first global home appliance company to showcase its universal approach to accessibility.

The “CSUN Assistive Technology Conference,” organized by the Center on Disabilities at California State University Northridge, is recognized as the world’s largest event focused on assistive technology. Major global tech companies, including Google, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft, participate annually to introduce their new accessibility technologies and gain valuable insights.

As the pioneering global home appliance company to exhibit at the CSUN conference, LG unveiled accessibility innovations designed to enable a “Better Life for All.” At the 40th annual CSUN conference in March, LG showcased smart home innovations, AI technologies and accessory devices aimed at helping consumers with disabilities and senior citizens use products more conveniently.

For the U.S. consumer market, LG demonstrated various solutions that enhance user experiences through attachable accessories and software updates for home appliances and consumer electronics.

The LG Comfort Kit, introduced in North America for the first time this year, was developed in response to user concerns. LG created several accessories to make appliances easier to operate, including easy handles for people with limited strength to open the laundry detergent drawer and washer and dryer doors, and an easy-to-use dial for washing machines. The company continues to expand the Comfort Kit lineup by listening to feedback from a variety of consumers, including those with mobility impairments, visual impairments, as well as children and seniors.

Another highlight of the exhibition was a newly-developed commercial kiosk featuring height- adjustable capabilities and tactile keypads. This kiosk allows wheelchair users to easily adjust the screen height to their eye level. A new tactile keypad accessory designed to enhance accessibility for visually impaired consumers also was introduced at the conference.

Complementing its technology demonstrations in the booth, LG hosted a half-day workshop addressing topics such as AI smart homes, universal design including comfort kits, and accessible kiosks. Discussions included new assistive technologies and ways to alleviate customer pain points to create more convenient environments. Workshop participants included accessibility stakeholders from the Shepherd Center, the University of Maryland, UC Berkeley, the American Council of the Blind and the National Center for Accessible Media, who all shared their expertise and insights on improving accessibility in products.

According to LG Electronics ESG Strategy Head Justin Hong, LG’s role at CSUN 2025 exemplifies the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility for home appliance users and to realize its Better Life for All ESG vision. “Accessibility is at the heart of our innovation, driving us to push boundaries and exceed expectations,” he says. “It is particularly meaningful to showcase various products launching in North America as we continue our efforts to contribute to a Better Life for All with some of the easiest-to-use and most convenient products on the planet.”

LG was excited to participate in CSUN AT for the first time and present its newest accessibility-focused solutions debuting in North America. The event was a great opportunity to highlight the company’s ongoing commitment to improving lives for everyone by offering products that enhance convenience and ease of use.

With its first appearance at CSUN AT 2025, LG reaffirmed its commitment to universal design and accessibility. By introducing thoughtfully designed solutions that enhance convenience for disabled and senior users, LG continues to push for a more inclusive future.

Company Expands 6G Leadership With 3GPP Executive Role and Cutting-Edge R&D

SEOUL, March 14, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) continues to solidify its leadership in 6G communications, a transformative technology poised to shape the future of connectivity.
Kim Lae-young, Senior Research Engineer at LG’s CTO Office, has been appointed Vice Chair of the Service and System Aspects (SA) plenary at the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), the global authority on mobile communications standards. The SA plenary plays a pivotal role in defining 5G and 6G system architectures, service scenarios, requirements and security mechanisms. It also drives the evolution of 5G-Advanced and the standardization of next-generation 6G technologies.
This appointment underscores LG’s expertise in communications protocols and system architecture. The company has already demonstrated its leadership by serving consecutive terms as the chair company of the Applications Working Group in the Next G Alliance, a North American 6G technology initiative led by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions.
With this latest leadership role, LG aims to accelerate 6G research and development while actively contributing to global standardization efforts. 6G technology – enabling ultra-fast, low-latency and AI-integrated communication – will be crucial to LG’s future innovations in AI-powered smart homes, mobility and smart factories.
LG has been at the forefront of 6G research, driving innovation through strategic partnerships and pioneering initiatives. In 2019, it established Korea’s first dedicated 6G academic research center, the LG-KAIST 6G Research Center. To further accelerate advancements, LG has built a robust R&D network with leading institutions, including Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute and Korea’s Research Institute of Standards and Science, strengthening the development of core technologies. Since 2022, LG has also hosted the 6G Grand Summit, a global forum that brings together experts to shape the future of next-generation connectivity.
LG’s advancements in 6G technology have earned global recognition. In 2022, the company successfully carried out the world’s longest outdoor terahertz (THz) wireless data transmission, covering 500 meters in an urban setting. Additionally, LG is working closely with partners to validate Advanced Duplex wireless communication technology, a potential cornerstone of future 6G standards.
“We are committed to advancing next-generation technologies to reinforce our leadership in the 6G communications ecosystem and enhance our global competitiveness,” said Je Yeong-ho, head of LG’s C&M Standard Lab.
