OLED55C6V videoplayer displays green shaded picture for some Dolby Vision videofiles

Николай Долбня

Question

When I try to play some Dolby Vision video on my OLED55C6V from USB-flash or from DLNA-server (without any conversion) by the internal application for photo and video playback I see the picture painted green. Some Dolby Vision video is played properly. So can I change something in my television settings or in the video-file (I would be able to re-encode or remuxe it if I knew what should I change) for fixing the problem? Thank you beforehand!

@Николай Долбня It is possible that one of the "expert mode settings" is not correct for some media types being decoded. I did see mention of a bug in some sort of "lookup table" for this stuff, in another forum. Try temporarily turning off the "dynamic tone-mapping" in settings -> Picture -> Picture Mode Settings. Then see if the affected test videos are improved or not.

If no difference, try testing with other modes off or on as needed, BUT- DO REMEMBER your initial settings, so you can get it back to your normal settings for regulat TV viewing. Take a photo of your settings on your phone or camera before starting changing anything.

NOTE: if you DO find that (e.g. dynamic tone-mapping) is the culprit, then report it to your country LG Support site, as this forum is ONLY a peer-to-peer enthusiasts forum, and is NOT OWNED OR RUN BY LG. If users do that, then there is more chance of a fix from LG.

I have a mediaplayer connected to my TV OLED55C6V through HDMI. For every video playback the player tries to select an output HDMI signal format automatically depending on both video framerate/resolution and framerate/resolution supported by the connected TV to show the video as close to original as possible with the TV without any scaling. And here I have a problem: the maximum resolution the player selects is 1080p despite of the videofile has resolution 4k and the TV supports playback of the input signal up to 4K60p. I can change the output signal resolution on the player manually after blayback starting and it works, but it's not convenient. As far as I know the only way of getting information about videosignal format supported by TV for the player is EDID on HDMI channel. So is it possible to fix the issue? Maybe some hidden setting in TV could change the version of EDID?

i just started using a new LG 43UR7550 (cheapest model from them).......1st time using a LG as well as a Smart TV too.......and so far having a hard time adjusting the picture and sound (never had such problems with previous TVs)😒

      1) sound is worse than i thought since the speakers are down-firing (my previous TV had front-firing speakers)...........it has the AI Sound Tuning - so after it had tuned the sound - do i set the Sound Mode to ''AI'' or should i use ''Custom Settings'' to use the equalizer ??😬

      2) the TV has many different settings like Noise Reduction, TruMotion, etc.......so how to calibrate for best picture since i read that people say it's best to turn them all off ?😬

      3) i can turn off the screen when watching free-to-air broadcast channels.........but can i turn off the screen if i'm using Youtube app on the TV..........?..........what if i use a HDMI cable from my PC to the TV - can i turn off the screen ?🤒

      many thanks in advance😃

I have a COMPOSITE signal from a VCR that passes through a DENON AVR to my LG OLED at the composite connector (red, white, yellow) on the TV.
I think it had displayed video in past use. But now it does not.  TV home shows AV1 connected.  Screen goes BLACK (hint?)  Then if yellow video plug disconnected, MSG from OS shows "NO SIGNAL CHECK INPUTS."
I think TV thinks a signal is applied when the video cable is plugged in but somehow doesn't display the program!!!
I have confirmed good video signal on cable direct from devices and from DENON with a portable TV!!
So, what might be setup up wrong or failed in my OLED TV setup???
      Any help will be appreciated.
         Neil
