Connecting USB blu-ray drive to TV

Hi all,

I'm new here as I just got my LG webos tv and a USB blu-ray drive also LG. Sorry if this is the wrong part of forum.

Since the USB blu-ray drive has a "tv mode" and both it and the TV are LG I had high hopes that they will work together and I will be able to see disks by connecting it directly to the TV.

If I connect them as such it seems I can only see the contents of the disks in smart-share as any other USB drive (regardless if I enter tv-mode) but UNLESS is an original (protected?) disk in which case the drive appears empty (video disks as one made for me by a contracted photographer work as such). I only tested it with DVDs as I don't have any blu-ray yet. If I enter "tv mode" on the usb unit the TV shows an usb connection error message yet it still works from smart-share as I sayed...not at home now to give you the exact message but it sayed to remove and try reconnect it.

Can you please tell me if there is any solution to see original disks in such setup. Anything to get over that connection error? Or maybe an webos media player app capable to see usb connected optical drives?...yet I can't find any myself.

      Brand new LG TV (WebOS 8x) WILL NOT stay off when turned off with the remote?  Out of the box, connected to internet, seems to have been updated, and working fine.  But when I hit the power off with the remote, the TV reports 'Life is Good' seems to turn off, i.e. go into standby, and then a few seconds later, turns back on.  If the device connected to the TV on the last active HDMI port is OFF, I get the No Signal warning.  So I know the active HDMI input is not generating any signal.  I want to believe that any other device on any other HDMI port might be an issue? But then the TV would switch to that HDMI port, no?  This is really an issue!  If I use the phone app I can turn off the TV and it seems to stay off, at least does not come back on in a few seconds like the remote?  If I send 'standby' via HDMI-CEC, that seems to work as well, the TV seems to stay in standby mode.  This a bug?

      It is impossible to install some apps for regional TV channels because the browser is incompatible. How do I update the browser or how do I install a different browser on my TV ? Downloading a file is not supported.  Automatic update is active. Thanks in advance.

      So LG has put webOS on TVs, projectors, and now cars with webos auto. Does anyone thing LG will ever produce a webos powered smartphone or tablet? I know samsung has tried with tizen and it was only with the palm pre 2 and touchpad from HP that we saw webos on these types of devices. Just curious on what everyone thingks. Here's what webos used to look like..

      Why can't my TV default to WebOS and stop picking the last connection

      New user on here. 
      I bought this new TV last week and it is honestly driving me bananas. 
      When I click "Home" after using an App, etc, it brings me to the WebOS interface but then automatically selects the last used device (e.g. Fire stick, LG Channels, etc) despite me not wanting it to. 
      Is it possible to disable this, i.e. "Home" brings me to WebOS and stays there? I'm sure its a setting etc which I'm missing. 
      Device is LG UQ91 43 inch 4K Smart UHD TV, pretty sure its all up to date.
